To improve the transmission performance and preparation of a transducer array, two planar array transducers based on connected 1–3 piezoelectric composites as a matrix were designed. Each transducer contained 25 array elements with a gap of 1 mm between them. The length, width and height of each array element were 1 mm, 26 mm and 5 mm, respectively. Two kinds of array transducers were tested through finite element simulation and experiments. The array transducer prototype was fabricated based on two kinds of composite materials, and the fabrication cycle was short. Our results show that the maximum transmission voltage response of the two-phase 1–3 full array driver is up to 179 dB at 200–400 kHz and the acoustic radiation intensity can be increased by up to 22% compared with the traditional splicing transducer array. It is suitable for short-range target positioning and measurement. Moreover, in the single element mode, the beam of the three-phase 1–3 transducer has no sidelobe and a single element −3 dB beam width of up to 91°. Furthermore, the beam width of the two-phase 1–3 type is 54°, and the acoustic radiation breadth is improved by 40.6%. The three-phase 1–3 type array transducer has the characteristics of concentrated acoustic transmission energy of the whole array, and its −3 dB beam width is 3.5°. The beam width decreased by 12.5%, indicating that the three-phase 1–3 type transducer is suitable for short-range target detection and perception. The two array transducers have their own advantages in transmitting the voltage response and beam width, which must be selected on the basis of the requirements of practical applications.

A stacked three-phase piezoelectric composites ring array underwater ultrasound transducer was developed in this paper. The circular structure of three-phase piezoelectric composite with a large open angle was improved based on the 1-3 piezoelectric composites. The structure size of the transducer’s sensitive component was designed by using ANSYS simulation software, and the single-ring samples of three-phase piezoelectric composites with different thicknesses were fabricated. Based on the bandwidth broadening theory of multimode coupled vibration, the piezoelectric composite ring-shaped sensitive component was fabricated by the piezoelectric composite curved-surface-forming process. According to the design structure of the transducer, the stacked three-phase piezoelectric composites ring array underwater ultrasound transducer was processed. The experimental results show that the maximum transmission voltage response is 154 dB, the open angle of the horizontal beam reaches 360°, and the bandwidth of −3 dB is 86 kHz. The developed transducers achieved a high frequency, broadband, and large open angle to radiate sound waves.

Cymbal transducers are frequently used as an array rather than a single element because of their high quality factor and low energy conversion efficiency. When used as an array, cymbal transducers are likely to have a big change in their frequency characteristics due to the interaction with neighboring elements. In this study, we designed an array pattern of cymbal transducers to achieve a wide frequency bandwidth using this property. First, cymbal transducers with specific center frequencies were designed. Next, a 2 × 2 planar array was constructed with the designed transducers, where dielectric polarity directions of the transducers were divided into two cases (i.e., same and different). For the array, the effect of the difference in the center frequencies and the spacing between the transducers on the acoustic characteristics of the entire array was analyzed. Based on the results, the structural pattern of the array was optimized to have the maximum fractional bandwidth while maintaining the transmitting voltage response over a given requirement. The design validity was verified by making cymbal array prototypes, followed by measuring their performances and comparing them with that of the design.

The generated power of multipole induction generator with secondary winding on the statorThis paper posses the construction of induction generator, which has the ability to operate at a low rotation speed. This generator can be applied for directly driven turbine without using the gearbox. The generator is multi pole with all of the windings placed on the stator. Rotor is tooth-like and has no windings on it. Primary winding is three phase, secondary winding is two phase.

In three-phase three-wire (3P3W) voltage-source converter (VSC) systems, utilization of filter inductors with deep saturation characteristics is often advantageous due to the improved size, cost, and efficiency. However, with the use of conventional synchronous frame current control (CSCC) methods, the inductor saturation results in significant dynamic performance loss and poor steady-state current waveform quality. This paper proposes an inverse dynamic model based compensation (IDMBC) method to overcome these performance issues. Accordingly, a review of inductor saturation and core materials is performed, and the motivation on the use of saturable inductors is clarified. Then, two-phase exact modelling of the 3P3W VSC control system is obtained and the drawbacks of CSCC have been demonstrated analytically. Based on the exact modelling, the inverse system dynamic model of the nonlinear system is obtained and employed such that the nonlinear plant is converted to a fictitious linear inductor system for linear current regulators to perform satisfactorily.

The objective of this study is to quantify the effects of humic acid solution infiltration on the transport of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in soil columns using a three-phase transport model. From experimental results, it is found that the dissolved organic carbon enhances the transport of OCPs in the soil columns. In the OCPs-only column, the concentration profiles of OCPs can be simulated well using a two-phase transport model with numerical method or analytical solution. In the OCPs-DOC column, the migrations of aldrin, DDT and its daughter compounds are faster than those in the OCPs-only column. The simulation with the three-phase model is more accurate than that with the two-phase model. In addition, significant decrease of the fluid pore velocities of the OCPs-DOC column was found. When DOC leachate is applied for remediation of soil or groundwater pollution, the decrease of mean pore velocities will be a crucial affecting factor.

Background: Traditional thyristor-based three-phase soft starters of induction motor often suffer from high starting current and heavy harmonics. Moreover, both the trigger pulse generation and driving circuit design are usually complicated. Methods: To address these issues, we propose a novel soft starter structure using fully controlled IGBTs in this paper. Compared to approaches of traditional design, this structure only uses twophase as the input, and each phase is controlled by a power module that is composed of one IGBT and four diodes. Results: Consequently, both driving circuit and control design are greatly simplified due to the requirement of fewer controlled power semiconductor switches, which leads to the reduction of the total cost. Conclusion: Both Matlab/Simulink simulation results and experimental results on a prototype demonstrate that the proposed soft starter can achieve better performances than traditional thyristorbased soft starters for Starting Current (RMS) and harmonics.

In this paper, the effect of the mix composition on rheological behavior of fresh cement-sand mixture is studied by considering a mixture as a two-phase model that is decomposed into a granular and a paste phase. The paste itself is subdivided into void paste and excess paste. Void paste fills the void space between the grains when they are in a fully compacted state while excess paste will use the remaining paste to form a paste layer around each individual grain particle, with equal thickness. By considering each grain particle covered with the excess paste layer as a single element, the rheological behavior of cement-sand mixtures can be related to their inter-element interactions for all sets of particle combinations.

The equilibrium alloys closed to Mg-Nd side in the Mg-rich corner of the Mg-Zn-Nd system at 400°C have been investigated by scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis and X-ray diffraction. The binary solid solutions Mg12Nd and Mg3Nd with the solubility of Zn have been identified. The maximum solubility of Zn in Mg12Nd is 4.8at%, and Mg12Nd phase can be in equilibrium with Mg solid solution. However, only when the solubility range of Zn in 26at%~32.2at%, Mg3Nd can be in two-phase equilibrium with Mg solid solution. As the results, two two-phase regions as Mg+Mg12Nd and Mg+Mg3Nd and a three-phase region as Mg+Mg12Nd+Mg3Nd in Mg-Nd-Zn ternary isothermal section at 400°C have been identified.
