Recent booming advances in luminescent gold nanoclusters (AuNCs), have prompted the development of novel fluorescent sensors. The luminescent AuNCs possess unique and intriguing physical and chemical properties including responsive photoluminescence and peroxide-like activity, providing abundant potentials for sensing strategy design. As of now, a wide variety of chem-/bio-sensors based on AuNCs have been developed and reviewed according to varied analytes. In this review, from a different point of view, we follow the route of how those sensors realize their functions and focus on the actual roles AuNCs play, in order to hierarchically and logically display the recent progress in the sensing applications of AuNCs. This review not only opens new windows to understand the development of sensors based on AuNCs but can also inspire broader and deeper utilization of luminescent nanomaterials.

The emergence of nanoparticles (NPs) has opened new opportunities in analytical chemistry [. These NPs exhibit different properties and functionalities when compared to monometallic particles. In particular, they show enhanced selectivity and reactivity when used as catalysts and sensors [2-. The NPs have large surface area, high surface free energy, good biocompatibility and suitability, and it has been used in constructing electrochemical biosensors [7, . The fascinating physical and chemical properties of NPs offer excellent prospects for a wide range of bio sensing applications [ . Uric acid (UA) is the principal final product of purine metabolism in the human body [1. It has been shown that extreme abnormalities of UA levels are symptoms of several diseases (e.g. gout, hyper uricaemia and LeschNyhan syndrome)[11,1.In general, electro active UA can be irreversibly oxidized in aqueous solution and the major product is allantoin [1. In continuation of our interest with the bimetal nanoparticle (BNP) sensing here in this study, we employed Ag/Pt BNPs for detecting of UA.

Vertebroplasty was performed in 8 women in the age of from 43 till 80 years. The indication to intervention in one case was metastatic involvement, in four cases - osteoporotic vertebral fractures; to three patients vertebroplasty was performed in occasion of vertebral body gemangioma. The results of this study revealed, that for increase of safety the authors recommend to carry out the vertebroplasty under local anesthesia at presence of an anesthesiologist for possible additional intravenous anesthesia. The safest from the point of view of extravertebral distributions of cement is transpedicular access; flebospondylography does not allow predicting reliably distribution of cement in view of significant distinction of physical and chemical properties of entered substances however can be used for a tentative estimation of venous outflow at tumor process in vertebral bodies.

Today, western society is facing challenges to create new medical technologies to service an aging population as well as the ever-increasing e-waste of electronic devices and sensors. A key solution to these challenges will be the use of biomaterials and biomimetic systems. One material that has been receiving serious attention for its biomedical and device applications is eumelanin. Eumelanin, or commonly known as melanin, is nature’s brown-black pigment and is a poly-indolequinone biopolymer, which possess unique physical and chemical properties for material applications. Presented here is a review, aimed at polymer and other materials scientists, to introduce eumelanin as a potential material for research. Covered here are the chemical and physical structures of melanin, an overview of its unique physical and chemical properties, as well as a wide array of applications, but with an emphasis on device and sensing applications. The review is then finished by introducing interested readers to novel synthetic protocols and post synthesis fabrication techniques to enable a starting point for polymer research in this intriguing and complex material.

In connection with the spectrophotometric study of population-type characteristics of various kinds of stars, a statistical analysis of kinematical and distribution parameters of the same stars is performed at the Toruń Observatory. This has a twofold purpose: first, to provide a practical guide in selecting stars for observing programmes, second, to contribute to the understanding of relations existing between the physical and chemical properties of stars and their kinematics and distribution in the Galaxy.

Organic farming is one of the management strategies that improve productivity of marginal uplands. The study aimed to: (1) evaluate effects of various organic-based fertilizers on the growth and yield of corn; (2) determine the appropriate combination for optimum yield; and (3) assess changes on the soil physical and chemical properties. Experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design, with 3 replications and 7 treatments, namely; T0=(0-0-0); T1=1t ha-1 Evans + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T2=t ha-1 Wellgrow + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T3=15t ha-1 chicken dung; T4=10t ha-1 chicken dung + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T5=15t ha-1 Vermicast; and T6=10t ha-1 Vermicast + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1. Application of organic-based fertilizers with or without inorganic fertilizers promoted growth of corn than the control. But due to high infestation of corn silk beetle(Monolepta bifasciata Horns), its grain yield was greatly affected. In the second cropping, except for Evans, any of these fertilizers applied alone or combined with 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1 appeared appropriate in increasing corn earyield. Soil physical and chemical properties changed with addition of organic fertilizers. While bulk density decreased irrespective of treatments, pH, total N, available P and exchangeable K generally increased more with chicken dung application.
