Succinylation can improve the thermal stability of various proteins. In this study, succinylated egg white protein (SEWP) samples with different succinylation degrees were prepared by adding various succinic anhydride additives to egg white protein (EWP). The thermal stability of SEWP and the conformational structure under various succinylation degrees were investigated. With the increase in succinylation degree, the turbidity of heated SEWP solution (90 °C for 30 min) markedly declined. The heated SEWP solution with high succinylation degree (37.63%, 66.57%, and 72.37%) was transparent. Moreover, the result of differential scanning calorimetry confirmed that the thermal stability of succinylated EWP increased. The results of intrinsic fluorescence spectra and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy illustrate that succinylation changed the conformational structure of EWP. Succinylation increased the electrostatic repulsion and decreased the surface hydrophobicity, and it changed the aggregation morphology of EWP. Cross-linked spherical aggregates of low succinylation degree transformed to thready aggregates of a high succinylation degree. Thus, succinylation improved the thermal stability of EWP.

A siloxane-containing dianhydride, succinic anhydride terminated polydimethylsiloxane (DMS-Z21) was selected to cure diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A based epoxy resin (DGEBA). The cure kinetics and thermal properties were investigated by nonisothermal and isothermal differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), respectively. The activation energy (Ea) of the curing reaction was obtained based on the methods of Kissinger and isothermal measurements. The results of the thermogravimetric analyses of the DGEBA/DMS-Z21 system showed that the thermal stability of the DGEBA/DMS-Z21 system was slightly higher than the DGEBA/MeTHPA system.

Due to the poor thermal stability of egg white protein (EWP), important challenges remain regarding preparation of nanoparticles for EWP above the denaturation temperature at neutral conditions. In this study, nanoparticles were fabricated from conjugates of EWP and isomalto-oligosaccharide (IMO) after heating at 90 °C for 30 min. Meanwhile, the effects of protein concentration, temperature, pH, ionic strength and degree of glycation (DG) on the formation of nanoparticles from IMO-EWP were investigated. To further reveal the formation mechanism of the nanoparticles, structures, thermal denaturation properties and surface properties were compared between EWP and IMO-EWP conjugates. Furthermore, the emulsifying activity index (EAI) and the emulsifying stability index (ESI) of nanoparticles were determined. The results indicated that glycation enhanced thermal stability and net surface charge of EWP due to changes in the EWP structure. The thermal aggregation of EWP was inhibited significantly by glycation, and enhanced with a higher degree of glycation. Meanwhile, the nanoparticles (<200 nm in size) were obtained at pH 3.0, 7.0 and 9.0 in the presence of NaCl. The increased thermal stability and surface net negative charge after glycation contributed to the inhibition. The EAI and ESI of nanoparticles were increased nearly 3-fold and 2-fold respectively, as compared to unheated EWP.

<p>The thermal stability of pseudocyclic and cyclic <i>N</i>-heterocycle-stabilized (hydroxy)aryl- and mesityl(aryl)-l<sup>3</sup>-iodanes (NHIs) through thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is investigated. NHIs bearing <i>N</i>-heterocycles with a high N/C-ratio such as triazoles show among the lowest descomposition temperatures and the highest decomposition energies. A comparison of NHIs with known (pseudo)cyclic benziodoxolones is made and we further correlated their thermal stability with reactivity in a model oxygenation. </p>

The effect of several concentrations of carboxylated nitrile butadiene rubber (XNBR) functionalized halloysite nanotubes (XHNTs) on the vulcanization and degradation kinetics of XNBR/epoxy compounds were evaluated using experimental and theoretical methods. The isothermal vulcanization kinetics were studied at various temperatures by rheometry and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results obtained indicated that the nth order model could not accurately predict the curing performance. However, the autocatalytic approach can be used to estimate the vulcanization reaction mechanism of XNBR/epoxy/XHNTs nanocomposites. The kinetic parameters related to the degradation of XNBR/epoxy/XHNTs nanocomposites were also assessed using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). TGA measurements suggested that the grafted nanotubes strongly enhanced the thermal stability of the nanocomposite.

AbstractIn this study, the effect of grain size distribution on the thermal stability of electrodeposited nanocrystalline nickel was investigated by pre-annealing material such that a limited amount of abnormal grain growth was introduced. This work was done in an effort to understand the previously reported, unexpected effect, of increasing thermal stability with decreasing grain size seen in some nanocrystalline systems. Pre-annealing produced a range of grain size distributions in materials with relatively unchanged crystallographic texture and total solute content. Subsequent thermal analysis of the pre-annealed samples by differential scanning calorimetry showed that the activation energy of further grain growth was unchanged from the as-deposited nanocrystalline nickel.

Oligopeptide with a high Fischer ratio by protease hydrolysis from egg white was prepared. The optimal substrate concentration 5.5% and denatured time 15min were determined by nitrogen recovery ratio (NR) testing. Alcalase and enzymesⅡ were selected to hydrolyze egg white protein. The performance of ion exchange resin was chosen when flow rate of the hydrolysate was 8vol/hr. The NR of the hydrolysate was 84.01% and the desalinization ratio was 81.73% after passing ion exchange resin. Activated carbon adsorption chromatography was used to remove free AAA and the result of UV-scanning indicated that active carbon was efficient to absorb AAA. The composition analyzed results showed that the Fischer ratio of hydrolysate was 20.46 and the content of free amino acid was 8.04%. The G-25 gel filration chromatography was used to determine the molecular weight (MW) of hydrolysate and the results showed that the MW distribution of the hydrolysate with a high Fischer ratio was consecutive and it ranged from 300 to 600.

Abstract This paper is addressed to comparative study of changes in thermal stability of surface-modified hemp-hurds aggregates long-term incorporated in bio-aggregate-based composites with the original ones before their integration into alternative binder matrix. In this study, the effectiveness of alkaline treatment of hemp hurds compared to the raw bio-aggregates as well as in relation to their behaviour when they are long-term incorporated in the MgO-cement environment is investigated. The differences in the thermal behaviour of the samples are explained by the changed structure of hemp hurds constituents due to the pre-treatment and long-term action of the alternative binder components on the bio-aggregates. Alkaline treatment increases thermal stability of hemp hurds compared to raw sample. Also long-term incorporation of hemp hurds in MgO-cement matrix had a similar effect in case of alkaline modified bio-aggregates. The more alkali ions present in the structure of hemp hurdssamples, the more ash is formed during their thermal decomposition studied by thermal gravimetry (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

Several papers have been described on the thermal stability of the sweetener, C12H19Cl3O8 (Sucralose). Nevertheless no study using thermoanalytical techniques was found in the literature. Simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and infrared spectroscopy, have been used to study the thermal stability and thermal decomposition of sweetener.
