The importance of adopting digital transformation for manufacturing companies is increasing day by day. In order to implement digital transformation process effectively, companies need tools based on Maturity Models (MM). This paper aims to present existing MMs in the literature in terms of their maturity levels and dimensions. According to the literature, it can be said that the maturity levels which are given in this study are similar to other categorical papers. On the other hand, the dimensions discussed herein represent more different perspectives than the maturity levels.

AbstractManufacturing companies nowadays face growing numbers of heterogeneous customer requirements. Due to that, internal and external complexity lead to an increase in the associated costs. Especially companies with a high Engineer-to-Order business are strongly affected. To reduce external and internal complexity, Starting Solutions are a suitable way to do that. Starting Solutions require on the one hand the evaluation of product flexibility, on the other hand the evaluation of customer requirements. These two requirements are compared to each other and Starting Solutions are thereby derived.

In today's world where the importance of digitalization is increasing day by day, companies to increase their competitiveness have focused on digital supply chain instead of traditional supply chain. In a world where resources are constantly decreasing, the concept of sustainability has become very crucial in every part of life. Digital technologies, on the other hand, have a direct relationship with sustainability. Sustainability has three main dimensions: economic, environmental, and social. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate digital supply chain on 3 basic dimensions of sustainability. For this purpose, Fuzzy Best Worst Method (F-BWM) was used to define the importance level of criteria. Findings reveal that the concept of sustainability in textile firms in Turkey is generally perceived within an economic and environmental area, rather than within a social dimension. This study is very important in putting forward digital technologies which utilizing in supply chain and the impact of the digital supply chain on sustainability.

On the other hand, tuberculosis (TB) is the leading causes of death from infectious origin. Historically, coronaviral illness were reported with co-infection with TB; Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) is not an exception. As both diseases have overlapping clinical features, sometimes it maybe very difficult to diagnose and long standing features of TB can easily be mistaken for post-acute COVID-19. This report emphasizes the importance of suspecting TB-COVID co-infection and its grave consequences. Birdem Med J 2020; 10, COVID Supplement: 111-114

Purpose One of the hottest topics in today’s professional and academic debates is digital transformation; some even prefer to use the term “digital business transformation” that is more in line with the business aspects of transformation. On the other hand, in today’s workplaces, human resource (HR) approaches have come into a new era named employee experience (EX). The digital employee experience (DEX), one of the outcomes of entrancing digital transformation in workplaces, has revolutionized the business world by shifting the priorities of organizations from focusing solely on the needs of managers to focusing on all the employees and their experiences in the workplace. Despite the importance of this concept, there is not a unified and complete definition for it. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to conceptualize the DEX. Design/methodology/approach In this study, a systematic literature review was conducted in academic and professional databases, and then to complete and confirm the definition, 11 academic and professional experts in the field of HR and digital transformation in the country were interviewed. Findings A definition of the DEX was provided that covers previous gaps about defining this concept. Research limitations/implications It should be noted that research on conceptualizing EX rather than DEX has been conducted on academic grounds, and in the professional world, there have been some initial attempts on conceptualizing the DEX. Therefore, this study was defined as the need to provide a definition of the DEX. Originality/value The importance of implementing the positive DEX, on the one hand, and failing to conduct comprehensive studies to understand this concept and provide a precise definition of it, on the other hand, have become critical issues in organizations.

This study revisits the effectiveness of the audit committee independence and expertise in preventing earnings management practices.  Studies in other countries that have relatively stricter regulations showed the audit committee independence was effective to prevent earnings management.  Arguably, the practice may be different in Indonesia whose regulation is considerably more lenient.  On the other hand, studies related to audit committee expertise is rarely done in Indonesia.  This study utilized two of the earnings management models namely the Modified Jones Model and the Performance-Adjusted Modified Jones Model.  This study was limited to Indonesian listed manufacturing companies from 2009 to 2011.  Consistent for both earnings management models, the results show that audit committee independence is effective to prevent earnings management.  However, the results showed that audit committee expertise did not affect earnings management practices.  Although only approximately 39 percent of the audit committee members in Indonesian listed manufacturing companies were independent, the existence of those independence members enabled the audit committee to effectively conduct its monitoring role, especially in preventing earnings management.  Nevertheless, accounting and/or financial expertise might not determine the effectiveness of the audit committee’s monitoring role.

It is common knowledge that Modern English (especially its American version) has become a language of international significance and is expanding its area of impact day by day. Naturally, Armenia could not remain unaffected. Bilingualism (Armenian and English), even trilingualism (including Russian) have doubled in our country in the last decade owing to the development of tourism, mixed marriages, growth in the number of international organizations and other factors.Bilingualism is closely related to a linguistic phenomenon in which the Armenian speech is complemented with English words, word combinations and even sentences. The reasons contributing to such phenomena are not only linguistic but also social-psychological. It is applied in most diverse social spheres – in the field of education in order to enhance one’s knowledge, in everyday speech to fill the vocabulary gaps and make some impression on the interlocuter, etc. Research suggests that code switching can contribute to borrowings from one language into another thereby enriching the Armenian vocabulary. On the other hand, if this process lasts long and encompasses larger masses it can distort the language and threaten the purity of the national language.

The advertising industry is undergoing a transformation process driven, on the one hand, by the growing use of information technologies in interpersonal and consumer relations, and on the other hand, by the breakdown of rigid boundaries between communication disciplines, resulting from the emergence of hybrid formats of branding actions, both in objectives and language. The Devassa Bem Loura case, chosen as an example of the ongoing transformations, illustrates the current phase of advertising in tension between past creative schemes and innovative trends of diffusion and persuasion.

The impact of new digital technologies creates challenges for the digital transformation process in company sustainability areas. The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of contribution of digital-transformation-enabling technologies to company sustainability areas of three pulp and paper manufacturing companies in Brazil and relate it to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through a systematic literature review based on the PRISMA method, we sought to assess the key concepts of sustainability and the implementation of digital transformation (DT) through its enabling digital technologies. A field study was conducted in three Brazilian pulp and paper companies to assess the degree of contribution. They are leading companies in the paper and cellulose industry in Brazil. The results obtained indicate that the companies in this sample are still in a growth process regarding the use of digital technologies in their sustainability areas. Only one digital technology, cloud computing, appears relevant in one of the companies studied, which differs from the theoretical framework presented by the literature. To achieve the SDGs goals, countries, especially emerging ones, need to develop their technologies and their business and improve the results that relate to sustainability. The research method applied in this study can be replicated to other companies where the impact of digital transformation technologies on company sustainability is critical.
