It is demonstrated for the first time that the registration of the optode signal under non-equilibrium conditions reduces analysis time and shifts the sensor working range. The fabrication of optode-like color standards for digital color analysis (DCA) is described, and a multi-parameter color scale for calibration-free sensor arrays is proposed. Advantages and limitations of monochrome and color camera for DCA with colorimetric optodes are discussed.

In this study, we developed a radial artery pulse acquisition system based on finger-worn dense pressure sensor arrays to enable three-dimensional pulse signals acquisition. The finger-worn dense pressure-sensor arrays were fabricated by packaging 18 ultra-small MEMS pressure sensors (0.4 mm × 0.4 mm × 0.2 mm each) with a pitch of 0.65 mm on flexible printed circuit boards. Pulse signals are measured and recorded simultaneously when traditional Chinese medicine practitioners wear the arrays on the fingers while palpating the radial pulse. Given that the pitches are much smaller than the diameter of the human radial artery, three-dimensional pulse envelope images can be measured with the system, as can the width and the dynamic width of the pulse signals. Furthermore, the array has an effective span of 11.6 mm—3–5 times the diameter of the radial artery—which enables easy and accurate positioning of the sensor array on the radial artery. This study also outlines proposed methods for measuring the pulse width and dynamic pulse width. The dynamic pulse widths of three volunteers were measured, and the dynamic pulse width measurements were consistent with those obtained by color Doppler ultrasound. The pulse wave velocity can also be measured with the system by measuring the pulse transit time between the pulse signals at the brachial and radial arteries using the finger-worn sensor arrays.

In einem Aluminium (Al)-Schmelzofen sind der Füllstand des Schmelzbades und die Oxidschichtmenge mit Kontaktsensoren nicht überwachbar, da das Schmelzbad aufgrund der hohen Haltebereich-Temperaturen von über 600 °C nicht zugänglich ist. Deshalb wird ein Online-Überwachungssystem des Aluminium-Schmelzbades mithilfe optischer Sensoren erforscht. Dafür wird das Schmelzbad mit geeigneten optischen Messsystemen identifiziert. Schließlich werden durch Bildanalyse-Algorithmen die Höhenänderung der Schmelze herausgearbeitet. Zudem werden Oxidschichten im Ofen auf der Badoberfläche mithilfe der Algorithmen detektiert.   The melt level and oxide layer quantity in an aluminum melting furnace cannot be monitored by contact sensors, since the melting bath is not accessible due to the high holding temperature (above 600 °C). Therefore, the method of monitoring the melting bath by means of optical sensors is investigated for the first time. For this purpose, suitable optical measuring systems can be applied which will be able to record the melting bath. The height change of the melt is to be elaborated by means of image analysis and any oxide layer on the bath surface is to be detected.

Image retrieval has been popular for several years. There are different system designs for content based image retrieval (CBIR) system. This paper propose a novel system architecture for CBIR system which combines techniques include content-based image and color analysis, as well as data mining techniques. To our best knowledge, this is the first time to propose segmentation and grid module, feature extraction module, K-means and k-nearest neighbor clustering algorithms and bring in the neighborhood module to build the CBIR system. Concept of neighborhood color analysis module which also recognizes the side of every grids of image is first contributed in this paper. The results show the CBIR systems performs well in the training and it also indicates there contains many interested issue to be optimized in the query stage of image retrieval.

The kinetics and morphology of the grain boundary grooving of Zn bicrystals with 16° <1010> tilt GB by Sn(Zn) melt has been studied at 325°C in equilibrium conditions in vacuum. It is shown that grooving process is interface controlled at least on the first stage. Groove walls mobility is evaluated. Changing of GB grove shape from “faceted walls” corner for annealing time < 78 h to concave “Mullins type” groove for annealing time > 78 h at the same experimental temperature was observed for the first time.

ABSTRACT Stark effect is observed in many natural and artificial plasmas and is of great importance for diagnostic purposes. Since this effect alters profiles of spectral lines, it should be taken into account when assessing chemical composition of radiation sources, including stars. Copper is one of the elements which studies of stellar atmospheres deal with. To this end, UV and visible Cu lines are used. However, there is a lack of agreement between existing data on their Stark parameters. It is therefore of interest to obtain new experimental data on these lines and to compare them to previous results. In this work, we have estimated Stark widths and shifts for three blue-green lines at 5105.54, 5153.24, and 5218.20 Å (corresponding transitions are [3d104p] 2P° → [3d94s2] 2D and [3d104d] 2D → [3d104p] 2P°) observed in a ‘long-spark’ laser-induced plasma. For the first time, we have accurately estimated an impact of hyperfine splitting on the profile shapes of the studied lines taking also into account the isotope shifts. We have shown that both effects considerably influence shift and width of Cu i line at 5105.54 Å, and shifts of Cu i lines at 5153.24 and 5218.20 Å.

Due to the complex application of the historical-cultural, comparative, descriptive methods, the methods of linguistic-stylistic and figurative analysis, the authentic change of the traditional angle of interpretation has been identified: it eliminates the motif of the ancestral curse based on the Theban cycle of myths and shifts the emphasis on personal guilt. It is established that Staiger departs from the traditional explanation of category ??????? as �error� and interprets it as a deep cause of offense, which lies within ourselves, but is devoid of malice, which weighs all the consequences and pursues a specific goal. A �plastic Greek� perceives his guilt as destiny, and destiny differs from conscious activity. It is noted that the researcher distinguishes the work of Sophocles from a number of �tragedies of fate�, recognizing the oracle as a core element of dramatic tension creation. Moreover, the oracle is not interpreted as a symbol of blind reign of eternal fate, but only as a sign of infinite divine knowledge. Thus, the central conflict of the tragedy is the antagonism between Apollo and Oedipus, the god and the mortal: it is not a matter of showing that everything on earth is predetermined, but of distinguishing between infallible knowledge of god and limited knowledge of man and illustrating the gap between man and god. �Know thyself!� � know that you are a human, not a god � this famous aphorism can be considered the idea of tragedy, and Oedipus is the embodiment of the finiteness of human knowledge. It is stated that due to the motive of the court the whole tragedy is perceived as a model of Staiger�s dramatic style (observability of the action, brief description of the characters, conciseness of language). It is notable that the role of judge takes the protagonist himself and he finds the criminal in himself. So the movement returns to its starting point: the circle composition in �Oedipus the King� becomes a loop that is tightened around the neck of the hero. The interpreter names it �tragic irony�, which permeates the semantic outline of the work (especially the double meaning of the words of the characters) and it is manifested in each plot (the man himself fulfils the prophecy, trying hard to divert it). Staiger`s distinctive interpretation of the problem of freedom is emphasized: no matter how deceived Oedipus goes, he comes to admit his guilt and realize the need for punishment, and in the choice of punishment lies his freedom. Ultimately, Oedipus must be defeated in order to preserve the truth of the divine word. However, wilful acceptance of punishment is not a reconciliation of freedom (the hero fought against his fate) and necessity (he lost the fight against fate) in the classical sense, but rather it is related to the tragic emotions, which cause admiration.

This chapter shows how some young people become sexual by highlighting how gender non-conforming behavior and characteristics are used to explain how people know that they are gay. Heteronormativity acts as a straightening device, meaning that it’s not enough to be heterosexually oriented; one must also be appropriately masculine or feminine to be straight. Further, heteronormativity is so entrenched in society that young people may interpret their violations of heterosexual scripts as necessary evidence that they are not straight. Beyond genderqueerness and homoerotic desires—consistent with a queer of color analysis—Spectrum youth have formed their queer identities based on their experiences with class, race, ability, nationality, and more, exposing the ways that heteronormative culture is not just straight but white and middle class. Therefore, finding a place like Spectrum, which serves as a release valve from the pressures of heteronormativity, is often the first time these young people start to have a sense of belonging in society. Spectrum then is a place of socialization where young people experiencing a queer subjectivity learn the language and the culture of queer.

In the preceding paper we fitted the experimental profiles using a single Lorentzian line shape and assumed that the width and shift were proportional to the density. Here we discuss nonlinear contributions to widths and shifts and present a different spectral profile and analysis that allows us (i) to determine unbiased, binary collision, impact limit, broadening and shifting coefficients; (ii) to disentangle several effects nonlinear in the density; and, subsequently, (iii) to observe broadening and shifting arising purely from the correlation between perturbers and three-body interactions. This is a new avenue of research in molecular dynamics. In addition, measurements of the broadening of the depolarized part of the Q branch in D2 are reported for the first time.
