Animal telemetry is a subject of great potential and scientific interest, but it shows design-dependent problems related to price, flexibility and customization, autonomy, integration of elements, and structural design. The objective of this paper is to provide solutions, from the application of design, to cover the niches that we discovered by reviewing the scientific literature and studying the market. The design process followed to achieve the objective involved a development based on methodologies and basic design approaches focused on the human experience and also that of the animal. We present a modular collar that distributes electronic components in several compartments, connected, and powered by batteries that are wirelessly recharged. Its manufacture is based on 3D printing, something that facilitates immediacy in adaptation and economic affordability. The modularity presented by the proposal allows for adapting the size of the modules to the components they house as well as selecting which specific modules are needed in a project. The homogeneous weight distribution is transferred to the comfort of the animal and allows for a better integration of the elements of the collar. This device substantially improves the current offer of telemetry devices for farming animals, thanks to an animal-centered design process.

The brand is a powerful representational and identification-led asset that can be used to engage staff in creative, sustainable and developmental activities. Being a brand the result of, foremost, a design exercise, it is fair to suppose that it can be a relevant resource for the advancement of design literacy within organisational contexts. The main objective of this paper was to test and validate an interaction structure for an informed co-design process on visual brand artefacts. To carry on the empirical study, a university was chosen as case study as these contexts are generally rich in employee diversity. A non-functional prototype was designed, and walkthroughs were performed in five focus groups held with staff. The latter evidenced a need/wish to engage with basic design principles and high willingness to participate in the creation of brand design artefacts, mostly with the purposeof increasing its consistent use and innovate in its representation possibilities, whilst augmenting the brand’s socially responsible values.

Abstract The present work describes an integrated, two-phase computer-based method for fabricating marine propulsors using stereolithography. This new methodology seamlessly integrates stereolithography rapid prototyping techniques with the hydrodynamic design, structural design, and prototype testing of advanced marine propulsors in order to greatly increase the design process efficiency and reduce development time. Its use as applied to the design, fabrication, and testing of advanced propulsor prototypes for small weapon’s-scale undersea vehicles (e.g., Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), lightweight and heavyweight torpedoes, etc.) is described in order to demonstrate specific strengths of the new method.

The paper is concerned with topology optimization in the mechanical design process. The disadvantage of current process of mechanical design is discussed and a new design process based on structural topology optimization is presented. The design process with structural topology optimization in mechanical design is discussed by the example of the frame of a bender. Static analysis is made to the original model first according to the whole structure and working characteristic of the machine, the stress and deformation distribution are obtained and then topology optimization is carried out. On the basis of topology optimization, the layout of the initial design proposal is obtained and the weight of the frame is substantially reduced while the performance enhanced. The application of the method demonstrates that through innovative utilization of the topology optimization techniques, the conceptual proposals can be obtained and the overall mechanical design process can be improved substantially in a cost effective manner.

The paper focuses on introducing the basic condition of the TEAMS and the basic design process of multi-signal modeling and diagnostic strategy. Moreover, it introduces the applications of TEAMS in fault diagnosis from three aspects: model establishment, performance analysis and diagnostic strategy. The superiority and effectiveness of above-mentioned method is verified by an instance and the results are useful to the fault diagnosis of complex electronic equipment.

<p>A basic procedure for designing a power inductor is presented. Many papers and textbook chapters offer more sophisticated methods, but it is harder to find a clear outline of a basic design process. Studying and practicing a basic design process is useful for beginners to understand the fundamental tradeoffs in design and to build intuition. For more advanced work, the basic design process is useful as it avoids relying on assumptions that might not be valid with, for example, high-frequency loss effects that are ignored in the development of some more sophisticated methods, or that constrain other methods to narrow, specific cases.</p> <p>Two options are outlined: starting with a saturation constraint, and then checking the core/winding loss balance; or, starting by optimizing the core/winding loss balance, and then checking the saturation constraint.</p>

Introduction. Despite the notable and rapid progress in the development of medical 3D printing in recent years, not much is known about the use of this technology in obstetrics and gynecology.The purpose of our review of scientific literature was to determine the current level of 3D printing development, discuss the closest and long term prospects for using this technology in obstetrics and gynecology, and analyze its potential advantages and disadvantages.Materials and methods. We searched for scientific literature. 378 papers passed a three-step screening, as a result of which 42 sources were selected for the final scientific review.Results and discussion. The main areas in which dimensional printing can be used in this area of medicine is the creation of simulation models and training for students, the creation of anatomical models for preoperative preparation, the surgical instruments, the creation of new dosage drug forms (including transvaginal ones), and bioprinting of organs and tissues.Conclusion. The presented literary review allows us to conclude that 3D printing the obstetrics and gynecology is a current rapidly developing direction. The organization of 3D modeling and printing laboratories can significantly increase the efficiency of teaching students and residents. In addition, obstetricians-gynecologists and surgeons should be informed about the possibility of 3D printing surgical instruments according to an individual design. It can inspire them to implement their own ideas and develop domestic innovative developments. Three-dimensional printing of dosage forms and bioprostheses requires more complex technological solutions, and is not yet used in clinical practice. However, given the enormous prospects for these areas, various grants should be envisaged for their development in Russia
