LC–NMR combines the advantage of the outstanding separation power of liquid chromatography (LC) and the superior structural elucidating capability of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). NMR has proved that it is a standout detector for LC by providing maximum structural information about plant originated extracts particularly in its isolating ability of isomeric (same molecular formula) and/or isobaric (same molecular weight) compounds as compared to other detectors. The present review provides an overview of the LC–NMR developmental trends and its application in natural products analysis. The different LC–NMR operational modes are described, as well as how technical improvements assist in establishing this powerful technique as an important analytical tool in the analysis of complex plant-derived compounds. On-flow, stop-flow and loop-storage modes, as well as the new offline mode LC–SPE–NMR and capLC-NMR configurations that avoid the ingestion of expensive deuterated solvents throughout the experiment are mentioned. Utilization of cryogenic probe and microprobe technologies which are the other important promising approaches for guaranteeing the sensitivity issues are also described. Concluding remarks and future outlooks are also discussed.

Perkembangan dunia perbankan syariah tidak lepas dari peran para nasabah yang memberikan kepercayaan terhadap pihak perbankan untuk penyimpanan asset keuangannya. Faktanya banyak kelompok nasabah yang memutuskan untuk menjadi nasabah di perbankan syariah karena faktor religiusitasnya. Faktor lain yang dapat ikut mempengaruhi keputusan nasabah adalah kualitas produk. Di mana kualitas produk merupakan karakteristik yang melekat dari suatu produk. Kemungkinan yang terjadi bahwa kebanyakan nasabah pada perbankan syariah juga masih merupakan nasabah perbankan konvensional.Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kualitas produk dan tingkat religiusitas nasabah terhadap keputusan nasabah untuk menyimpan dananya atau tidak di BSM Cabang Purwokerto. Alat analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda, dengan jumlah sampel 100 nasabah. Diperoleh hasil Y = 5,046 + 0,101X1 + 0,218X2. Berdasarkan uji F yang sudah dilakukan maka dapat diketahui bahwa variabel kualitas produk dan religiusitas secara bersama – sama berpengaruh terhadap keputusan nasabah untuk menyimpan dananya di BSM Cabang Purwokerto. Berdasarkan uji t yang sudah dilakukan dapat diketahui bahwa secara partial baik variabel kualitas produk maupun variabel religiusitas berpengaruh terhadap keputusan nasabah untuk menyimpan dananya di BSM Cabang Purwokerto. The progress of the Islamic bank cannot be separated from the role of its customers who give trust to the bank to deposit their financial assets. It is a fact many groups of customers decide to be the customers of the Islamic bank because of their religiosity. The other influences factor of a customer’s decision is the quality of the product. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of product quality and level of customers’ religiosity towards customers’ decision whether to keep their funds in Syariah Mandiri Bank, Branch of Purwokerto, or not. The analytical tool used was multiple linear regression analysis, with a sample of 100 customers. The results indicate Y = 5,046 + 0,101X1 + 0,218X2. Based on F, it can be seen that both variables of product quality and religiosity simultanously affect the customers’ decision to keep theirfunds in BSM Branch of Purwokerto. Based on t test, it can be seen that independently, either variable of product quality or variables of religiosityinfluences the customers’ decision to keep their funds in BSM Branch of Purwokerto.

Activated sludges were acclimated to p-nitrophenol (PNP) in two operational modes, a batch and a continuous. The operational mode of the PNP acclimation of activated sludges strongly affected the physiological characteristics of predominant microorganisms responsible for PNP degradation. Predominant PNP degraders in the sludge in batch mode (Sludge B) had lower PNP affinity and were relatively insensitive to PNP concentration. Those of the sludge in continuous mode (Sludge C), on the other hand, had very high PNP affinity and were sensitive to PNP. MPN enumeration of PNP degraders in sludge B and C using media with different PNP concentrations (0.05, 0.2,0.5 and 2.0 mM) supported the above results. Medium with 0.2 mM of PNP did not recover PNP degraders in sludge C well, while it recovered PNP degraders in sludge B as well as the medium with 0.05 mM did. When switching from one operational mode to the other, the predominant population in sludge B shifted to the sensitive group, but that of sludge C did not shift at the given loading of PNP, showing relative resistance to inhibitive concentration.

This chapter spans Freedman’s earliest focus on nuclear weapons and his development of strategic scripts as an analytical tool over three decades later. It discusses the way in which opposing logics of disarmament and armament co-existed in relation to nuclear weapons. It deploys the notion of strategic scripts to explain the contradictions inherent in approaches to nuclear disarmament, developing the concept of strategic scripts as it does so. The notion of scripts can be used to explore and even to promote nuclear disarmament. Two scripts, one of ‘stable reduction’, the other of ‘disarmament’, each serve to frame thinking. These scripts and the interactions they generate facilitate understanding of the way in which opposite instinctive reactions and, stemming from these, scripts about nuclear weapons co-exist, but are fragile as either an analytical or a strategic tool.

<p>A phaseless Gauss-Newton inversion (GNI) algorithm is developed for microwave imaging applications. In contrast to full-data microwave imaging inversion that uses complex (magnitude and phase) scattered field data, the proposed phaseless GNI algorithm inverts phaseless (magnitude-only) total field data. This phaseless Gauss-Newton inversion (PGNI) algorithm is augmented with three different forms of regularization, originally developed for complex GNI. First, we use the standard weighted L2 norm total variation multiplicative regularizer which is appropriate when there is no prior information about the object being imaged. We then use two other forms of regularization operators to incorporate prior information about the object being imaged into the PGNI algorithm. The first one, herein referred to as SL-PGNI, incorporates prior information about the expected relative complex permittivity values of the object of interest. The other, referred to as SP-PGNI, incorporates spatial priors (structural information) about the objects being imaged. The use of prior information aims to compensate for the lack of total field phase data. The PGNI, SL-PGNI, and SP-PGNI inversion algorithms are then tested against synthetic and experimental phaseless total field data.</p>

This paper adopts a systemic functional linguistics as a paradigm to analyse postings on social media. This paradigmatic relationship is based on a combination of form and meaning. It adopts a Bakhtinian dialogic view of language and discourse. His viewpoint is built on the idea that every’s speaker voice is imbued with traces of previous voices and is in anticipation of other voices. This research shows how bloggers engage readers, how they negotiate and position themselves vis-à-vis the other voices. The current study adopts the Engagement framework as an analytical tool to evaluate the language used in Nawaat to cover the political assassinations in Tunisia. The current research focuses on the writer’s comments, description of the political assassinations. It also focuses on the writer’s comments, description and claims of external voices. Building solidarity and entente with readers who share and hold the same vision is also a matter of concern.

Polyphagous molluscs such as Helix pomatia and Arion rufus generally do not feed on plants containing alkaloids. Of 19 species tested 10 species were totally avoided, the other 9 species were less attacked than Lactuca sativa, which was readily taken. Plants containing quinolizidine alkaloids were studied in detail. Those species with the α-pyridone alkaloids cytisine and N-methylcytisine were avoided to a higher extent than plants with lupanine as the major alkaloid. Since the repellency observed could be due to other natural products present in the plants besides the alkaloids, the feeding response of Helix pomatia was tested on artificial diets containing quinolizidine alkaloids in various concentrations as the only variable. If the snails had the choice they clearly preferred alkaloid-free food or a diet with only low alkaloid concen­trations. Half-maximal repellency of cytisine is less than 2 mᴍ, of sparteine 1-5 mᴍ, and of lupanine 1-8mᴍ. Since the in vivo concentrations of sparteine, cytisine, and lupanine are equal to or higher than the inhibitory concentrations required it is concluded that quinolizidine alkaloids constitute a potential antimolluscan principle of legumes.

The stop-flow analysis has been applied to the study of the excretion of hemoglobin, in order to compare the physiological data with the morphological views. The study of the ratio U/P hemoglobin/U/P creatinine suggests that this protein penetrates the tubular lumen by diffusion during the ureteral occlusion and progressed slowly under influence of water reabsorption. During this migration, hemoglobin undergoes the effects of a double reabsorption: one in the middle part of the proximal convoluted tubule, the other more distally situated in a zone not distinguishable from the site of sodium reabsorption.

The isolation and spectroscopic characterization of halogenated fullerene-60 compounds has not advanced greatly during the 2 years of effort in this area. While the fully fluorinated C60F60 has been studied in some detail, other halogen addition processes have indicated chlorination up to C60Cl24 and bromination up to C60Br24. However, definitive structural information has to date only been provided for three compounds, namely C60Br6, C60Br6 and C60Br24. Iodine does not appear to form genuine addition compounds. In the work reported here semiempirical calculations using the AM1 approximation with the MOPAC molecular orbital program have been directed to comparing the possible stable isomers of the 1:1 addition compounds C60X2 for X = F, Cl and Br. The favoured isomers can be described as 1,2-additions (to a double bond at a hexagon-hexagon fusion) and 1,4-additions (to the terminal carbons of a butadiene moiety) with higher-energy isomers resulting from 1,6- and 1,8-additions. The other isomers represented by 1,3- 1,5- and 1,7-additions are only stable relative to dissociation in the case of the fluorine addition compounds. By contrast for Br2 addition only the 1,2- and 1,4-isomers are stable toward dissociation. The calculations show that, at and near the addition site carbons, X2 addition is adequately described in terms of local distortion of the C60 sphere. The elementary model of C60 as comprising formal single and double bonds is relevant since C60 behaves as a 'poly- alkene ', with sp3 carbons replacing sp2 carbons at the addition sites. This model offers an explanation for the unique structures observed for C60Br6 and C60Br24 which the AM1calculations show to be very stable toward dissociation. However, the experimental C60Br8 structure is found to be relatively less stable than another isomer. Also high-stability isomers of C60Br4, C60Br10, C60Br12 and C60Br18 are predicted.

In rabbits, after rapid intravenous injection of Mg28, the plasma and urinary specific activities, corrected for transit time, are at all times in equilibrium. Injection of Mg28 during stop flow does not reveal any tubular zone permeable to magnesium. On the other hand, the magnesium behavior is in many ways comparable to that of a glomerular substance. These three arguments lead to the view that urinary magnesium is of essentially glomerular origin, and rule out any mechanism of tubular exchange or secretion.
