Culture-led regeneration projects (CRPs) have been identified as an effective means for enhancing the sustainable development of cities. Related topics have been investigated; however, relatively little information is known about what factors are critical for achieving success in these kinds of regeneration projects. Based on a literature review and five case studies, this study contributes to the body of knowledge by identifying 25 critical success factors (CSFs) for managing CRPs in China. A questionnaire survey was designed to evaluate the relative importance of these factors from practitioners’ and researchers’ perspectives. In addition, a factor analysis was carried out to group these CSFs into five categories, namely government policies and culture-led regeneration strategies, stakeholder management and financing support, technical solutions for CRPs, social security, and industry development. The results demonstrated that cultural value management, integrating cultural development with urban planning, adopting sustainable development principles, reconstructing the city image and brand, and the availability of culture-led planning methods played the most important roles in the success of CRPs. The findings of this study can help practitioners enhance their regeneration project performance.

This work uses tools recently designed to conduct analyses and proposals around the cultural development of medium-sized cities. The Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor model, or CCCM, is first applied to the 81 cities in Spain with between 50,000 and 100,000 inhabitants. We also refer to the UNESCO Culture/2030 Indicators, specifically indicator 8 (Cultural companies), to investigate whether cultural dynamism is related to business vitality in those cities. Our observation of the 29 CCCM indicators and the C3 index, which synthesizes cultural performance, is explained, and these data are complemented with cultural business data (on assets, benefits, and jobs) from a sample of 13,204 firms. The C3 index values reveal significant differences in the cultural and creative performance of the selected cities according to their location (metropolitan or non-metropolitan) and their administrative rank. Moreover, when comparing the C3 index with the indicators on business activity, evidence indicates a clear positive relationship between cultural dynamism and firm vitality. These results support the contribution of culture to the sustainable development of medium-sized Spanish cities and further establish the suitability of the tools used to assist cities in designing appropriate cultural policies.

The purpose of this study was to understand the impact of tourism development on the sustainable development of Tingxi Reservoir. Based on tourism impact theory, 804 questionnaires were statistically validated and analyzed, followed by a semi-structured interview with five respondents, and finally examined by a multivariate verification method. The study found that not only did development fail to raise land and housing prices, develop leisure activities, improve medical facilities, and supplement police manpower, but it also increased consumer costs and environmental damage. There were also problems such as insufficient interpreters, parking and rest facilities, and ineffective management of communication channels, bicycle facilities, and tourist waste, which did not help youths to return to their hometowns. Furthermore, due to the disparities in the performance of leisure opportunities, medical and health care, spatial planning, and cultural development, there were different opinions among the stakeholders. Suggestions: (1) Satisfy the needs of different stakeholders; (2) Improve the environmental literacy of tourists and provide more garbage cans; (3) Develop additional scenic spots to divert tourists; (4) Stabilize prices and attract investment from enterprises; and (5) Increase the participation of residents in community development to supplement industrial manpower.

This study sought to investigate the prominent barriers to effective communication and stakeholder management in project teams. Specifically, this study examined the role of management frameworks currently utilized by organizations and their efficiency in supporting team collaboration, conflict management, and stakeholder management in project environments. The study utilized a two-prong research methodology to identify and to analyze current literature related to the scope and objective of this study. The study first deployed an exploratory and unstructured literature review and then a structured literature review to identify the pool of relevant articles and content. A systematic review was then performed to reduce the body of literature down to the critical few that could serve as the basis for the study's analysis. The results revealed the inadequacies of management frameworks in promoting healthy relationships between project managers and stakeholders. Furthermore, the study exposes a gap between formal communications planning, the actual execution, the implementation of the plan, and the poor implementation of organizational processes. The results also show the common types of conflict, the positive and negative effects that these have on project environments, project success, and the critical success factors in stakeholder management. In addition to identifying barrier and shortcomings, this article sheds light on improvement areas that will have the most significant effect on project success. The literature synthesis reveals the importance of soft skill in communication management. The results suggest that much work remains to be done by the organization to train and prepare managers in building relationships and developing soft skills. The literature has demonstrated that perception, values, team cohesion, the willingness to share, trust, and healthy relationships are most influential in project success, but in practice, the latter is not applied. In conclusion, this area needs improvement and further investigation.

AbstractProficiency in design thinking (DT) can contribute to the success of many companies. Successful implementation of DT can be achieved by identifying its Critical Success Factors (CSFs). Critical success factors are items or actions that should be present in a particular project or situation in order to be successful. However, to date, there has not been any formal study on synthesizing the critical success factors for a successful DT implementation based on existing research. In light of this, the aim of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework that proposes factors that may play a role in influencing the success of the DT implementation. Based on best practices and protocols from thematic analysis, we analyzed and synthesized extant literature in order to recognize research topics from the selected papers and categorize them into specific themes to build a framework. This study significantly contributes to the body of knowledge related to DT by offering the first attempt to identify CSFs for DT implementation, which can allow companies to take required precautions to elude failures or problematic areas and be able to increase the success rate of implementing DT

Owed to their enormous impact on the sustainable development of energy security, climate change, and the economy, multiple renewable-energy projects are carried out around the world, both in developed and in developing countries. Since the construction of renewable energy project is an entrepreneurial activity, there is a big concern about the success of such projects. Although pertinent literature suggests several methodologies to enhance the success of various projects, renewable-energy projects are still overlooked. This study identifies multiple critical success factors (CSFs), required for renewable-energy projects. Using a sample of 272 firms working on renewable energy projects in Pakistan, a quantitative and causal study was undertaken to identify the critical success factors (CSFs). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to test and verify hypothesis. The results show that there is a strong direct dependency of project success over the proposed factors, however environmental factors are found to be the only predominant CSFs which show the significant indirect effect over project success. The study expected to contribute towards and widen up the existing knowledge base for the project performance of renewable energy projects by adding on the findings regarding critical success factors.

This chapter examines the role that law plays in the enablement and empowerment of the world’s energy poor, with a particular focus on Africa, and in doing so, provides the rationale for the research. Against the background of contemporary measures to promote universal access to modern energy services, it critically analyses key concepts such as energy poverty, sustainable development and access to energy. The role of the law as a critical component for achieving this goal and the need for its centrality to be recognized as a necessary ingredient for success is ultimately reinforced. Further, the chapter discusses key concepts such as energy poverty, sustainable development, and access to energy, which underpin most of the contributions, and then highlights the indispensability of modern energy as an essential component of sustainable development. It highlights the need for complementary pro-energy-poor policies and critical success factors of energy planning and finance.

More and more companies are significantly introducing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to secure enterprise resources for effective distribution and provide accurate data for sustainable development in enterprise. Recently, Type B laboratory has promoted the utilization of the corporation’s own sustainable developments of the business model philosophy to affect the society and to solve social and environmental issues. The form of organizations arising from this certification process is referred to as the B Corporation, and this represents the implementation and commitment to sustainable development. Thus, decision-makers of B Corporation who can utilize ERP system tools well can coordinate sustainable activities better. There is not enough literature at this stage to provide the key success factors of implementing the ERP system for the B Corporation in Taiwan. This study extensively reviews the literature and conducts a modified Delphi expert questionnaire survey to elucidate the critical success factors of B Corporations’ implementation of ERP systems. The research results can assist the sustainable value of B Corporation and contribute to the current literature of improving critical success factors. The limitation of this study is that it only represents the perspective of B Corporation in Taiwan. Second, this study is unable to encompass all key success factors (CSFs) pertaining to ERP systems.
