Contrails are one of the driving contributors to global warming, induced by aviation. The quantification of the impact of contrails on global warming is nontrivial and requires further in-depth investigation. In detail, condensation trails might even change the algebraic sign between a cooling and a warming effect in an order of magnitude, which is comparable to the impact of aviation-emitted carbon dioxides and nitrogen oxides. This implies the necessity to granularly consider the environmental impact of condensation trails in single-trajectory optimization tools. The intent of this study is the elaboration of all significant factors influencing on the net effect of single condensation trails. Possible simplifications will be proposed for a consideration in single-trajectory optimization tools. Finally, the effects of the most important impact factors, such as latitude, time of the year, and time of the day, wind shear, and atmospheric turbulence as well as their consideration in a multi-criteria trajectory optimization tool are exemplified. The results can be used for an arbitrary trajectory optimization tool with environmental optimization intents.

Abstract Background. Recently several retrospective studies showed that relative dose intensity (RDI) in combination chemotherapy including CHOP significantly influences survival in aggressive lymphoma. Based on these data, maintaining high RDI in chemotherapy by, for example, prophylactic granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) administration has been attempted to obtain better outcome. Moreover, rituximab, a chimeric monoclonal anti CD20 antibody combined with CHOP chemotherapy (R-CHOP) has significantly ameliorated the outcome in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBL). However, it is unclear if higher RDI even in combination with rituximab will improve outcome in B cell type aggressive lymphoma. Hence, in the current study, we retrospectively analyzed the impact of RDI in R-CHOP as an initial treatment on survival of patients with DLBL. Furthermore, we determined the factors influencing RDI. Patients and Methods. We studied 100 previously untreated DLBL patients who underwent more than 3 courses of R-CHOP chemotherapies at 5 institutions from December 2003 to February 2008. The median age of the patients was 60 years old (range 19–79). The median number of R-CHOP course was 6 (range, 3–8). In the current study, the RDI was calculated by averaging the delivered RDIs of cyclophosphamide (CY) and adriamycin (ADR) for all chemotherapy courses. Results. The median average RDI of CY and ADR (CY/ADR-RDI) in all patients was 87.9%. Twenty three of 100 patients were treated with RDI less than 75 %. With a median follow-up of 21.2 months, the probability of 4-year overall survival (OS) was significantly higher in patients with higher RDI (>=75%) than that in patients with lower RDI (<75%) (78.6 % vs. 60%; P = 0.01). In univariate Cox regression model to identify prognostic factors for OS, RDI [hazard ratio (HR) = 0.7 per 0.1 of RDI; 95% CI 0.6– 0.9; P = 0.02] and high/high-intermediate International Prognostic Index (IPI) (HR = 4.7; 95% CI 1.3–17; P = 0.04) were significant factors influencing OS. In multivariate model, RDI was only a significant factor influencing OS (HR = 0.8 per 0.1 of RDI; 95% CI 0.6–1.0; P = 0.04). In multivariate logistic analysis to determine factors influencing RDI, elderly patients (>=51 ) [odds ratio (OR) = 0.2; 95% CI 0.1–0.7; P = 0.01] and high/high-intermediate IPI (OR = 0.3; 95% CI 0.1–1.0; P = 0.04) were significant factors for reduced RDI, whereas prophylactic G-CSF (OR = 3.2; 95% CI 1.1–9.3; P = 0.04) was found to be a significant factor for increased RDI. Conclusion. In newly diagnosed DLBL patients, the current results demonstrated that high RDI in CHOP even when combined with rituximab was significantly associated with better survival and higher RDI could be effectively maintained by G-CSF.

The main aim of our research was to determine whether the teacher is one of the factors influencing students’ perception of biology as a school subject. The study also aimed to identify the influence of certain other factors in this regard, specifically: students’ gender and place of residence, the number of biology teachers who have taught the students, and theteachers’ gender. The sample consisted of 261 lower secondary school students (ISCED 2) in Slovakia, aged 14 and 15 years. A questionnaire with Likert-type items was used as a research instrument. The findings confirm the impact of the biology teacher on students’ perception of the subject. After removing the influence of the teacher, the students’ gender and placeof residence did not have any significant influence on their perception of the subject. Two additional significant variables were the number of biology teachers who had taught the students and the teachers’ gender. The research confirmed that the teacher’s personality is one of the significant factors that can influence students’ perception of school subjects.

The Pareto diagram is a powerful tool for identifying the significant factors influencing objects, processes, services, etc. In the production sphere, it is very suitable for analysis of defects and their impact. In this work are summarized the types of defects that occur in the production of headrest covers for car seats. Analysis was made of both the frequency of occurrence of defects and the financial losses from them. The research is done on the whole production range (all projects) proceeded in a given month, on product families and on specific products. The three defects with the highest frequency of occurrence were identified. For them, additional study was conducted to determine the impact of the type of used material on internal scrap calculated as an expense in euros.Based on the obtained results, recommendations are made for improving the work and its results.

The influence of parents on childs development is extremely important. The impact a parent and family has on an individual is the foremost indicator of the holistic personality of that individual. Several researches are evident to the aspect that parental styles are very crucial factor that influences an adolescents behaviour, also the academic success besides other factors. Literature accords that based on Baumrinds model of Parenting Styles, authoritative parenting style is the most efficient in enhancing the academic achievement. Also that Permissive and neglectful parenting styles are the indicator styles for the abuse of alcohol among the adolescents and young adults. Thus the scope of this literature review is to filter out the significant factors influencing an individuals personality by assessing the aspects of academic achievement and alcohol use in accordance to parenting styles.

The article presents factors influencing on the Ukrainian labor`s migration within conditions of European integration. We denoted the impact factors on migration processes in Ukraine within conditions of European integration. This analysis allows to work out measures for improving migration policy, and as a result economical growth of the country. We defined the causes and effects. We traced the Ukrainian migration flows into the international economy. The impact factors of Ukrainian labor migration abroad within conditions of European integration in the current political and economic situation are the demographic situation, the unemployment rate, the rate of wages, migration policy, the political situation in Ukraine and in the world as well. We established the impact direction of each factor on the dynamics for the number of working migrators. So, in particular, the reduction and ageing of the population in the EU countries; the presence of hidden unemployment in Ukraine; the problems of youth employment after graduation; the excess of the EU countries wages in 3-5 times over Ukraine`s wages; the absence of specific activity in Ukraine aimed at repatriation of Ukrainians, and, on the contrary, the presence of such activity in foreign countries; political instability in Ukraine are all factors that contribute increasing of Ukrainian migrants number to the EU.

Abstract. Climate models project a much more substantial warming than the 2 °C target making higher end scenarios increasingly plausible. Freshwater availability under such conditions is a key issue of concern. In this study, an ensemble of Euro-CORDEX projections under RCP8.5 is used to assess the mean and low hydrological states under +4 °C of global warming for the European region. Five major European catchments were analyzed in terms of future drought climatology and the impact of +2 vs. +4 °C global warming was investigated. The effect of bias correction of the climate model outputs and the observations used for this adjustment was also quantified. Projections indicate an intensification of the water cycle at higher levels of warming. Even for areas where the average state may not considerably be affected, low flows are expected to reduce leading to changes in the number of dry days and thus drought climatology. The identified increasing or decreasing runoff trends are substantially intensified when moving from the +2 to the +4 °C of global warming. Bias correction resulted in an improved representation of the historical hydrology. It is also found that the selection of the observational dataset for the application of the bias correction has an impact on the projected signal that could be of the same order of magnitude to the selection of the RCM.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a model for complex interconnected structure of various factors interacting with delay in order to identify the most important factors influencing and influenced by delay based on their interrelations. Design/methodology/approach Reviewing literature and interviewing with local experts selected from the Iranian construction industry, top 58 delay factors were identified and categorized into six major groups. The interrelations among these factors were, then, modeled using the system dynamics (SD) approach. The resulting causal loop diagrams obtained from SD were used subsequently for identifying the most significant factors influencing and influenced by delay through the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method. The impact of factors on each other was finally determined based on the opinions of 63 experts selected from the Iranian community of consultants, contractors, and clients. Findings According to the analysis, eight out of the 58 factors were identified as the most influencing factors on delay, and nine factors were found to be the most influenced factors by delay in the field of delay analysis. The study also concluded that factors related to labors are the most important and influential factors. In addition, factors related to client were the most influencing factors and external-related factors were the least important ones. At the end, some recommendations to reduce variation of delay in the construction projects are presented as well. Originality/value Considering the interconnected structure of the factors, the paper identifies the most important factors interacting with time delay in construction projects.

Abstract The GFDL hurricane modeling system, initiated in the 1970s, has progressed from a research tool to an operational system over four decades. This system is still in use today in research and operations, and its evolution will be briefly described. This study used an idealized version of the 2014 GFDL model to test its sensitivity across a wide range of three environmental factors that are often identified as key factors in tropical cyclone (TC) evolution: SST, atmospheric stability (upper-air thermal anomalies), and vertical wind shear (westerly through easterly). A wide range of minimum central pressure intensities resulted (905–980 hPa). The results confirm that a scenario (e.g., global warming) in which the upper troposphere warms relative to the surface will have less TC intensification than one with a uniform warming with height. The TC rainfall is also investigated for the SST–stability parameter space. Rainfall increases for combinations of SST increase and increasing stability similar to global warming scenarios, consistent with climate change TC downscaling studies with the GFDL model. The forecast system’s sensitivity to vertical shear was also investigated. The idealized model simulations showed weak disturbances dissipating under strong easterly and westerly shear of 10 m s−1. A small bias for greater intensity under easterly sheared versus westerly sheared environments was found at lower values of SST. The impact of vertical shear on intensity was different when a strong vortex was used in the simulations. In this case, none of the initial disturbances weakened, and most intensified to some extent.

The paper offers an overall analysis of the level and dynamics of accounts receivable at Ukrainian enterprises by types of economic activity. A critical role in accounts receivable management is assigned to identification of factors affecting its occurrence. Hence, the factors of internal and external environment that may influence the size of receivables and provide the information basis for managerial decisions to reduce its net volume and simultaneously its share within the current assets have been explored. During the study, modern system theories in the area of finance and financial management as well as statistical analysis methods, in particular, comparative analysis and statistical comparisons methods were employed. The factors affecting their increase in the current assets have been revealed. Management solutions to resolve the above issues based on the factors facilitating prompt collection of receivables have been proposed. It is argued that accounts receivable makes a specific form of lending without interest, expiry date, and penalties. For its maintenance it is recommended to apply an interest rate and set payment term, and in the case of breaching the contract – to charge a fine. Regardless of the choice of the method of accounts receivable management, it is important to consider the impact factors (both external and internal). Receivables management will be effective only when the company will pay due attention to the specific characteristics of the above asset, its classification features, and identify the most significant factors that may affect its size in future.
