In this chapter, we discuss how terrorists can use the Internet as a source of information to plan for terrorist attacks. Online anonymity services such as virtual private network (VPN) are discussed, along with advantages and disadvantages of using these services. We also discuss online bomb-making instructions and highlight ways in which these can be used to the advantage of law enforcement. Finally, the use of the Internet as a reconnaissance tool for target selection is discussed, with descriptions of current and past research in this field to identify key information that is available to terrorists, and how this information can be manipulated to reduce the likelihood or severity of a terrorist attack.

In the recent years, people are becoming more dependent on the Internet as their main source of information about healthcare. A number of research projects in the past few decades examined and utilized the internet data for information extraction in healthcare including disease surveillance and monitoring. In this paper, we investigate and study the potential of internet data like internet search keywords and search query patterns in the healthcare domain for disease monitoring and detection. Specifically, we investigate search keyword patterns for disease outbreak detection. Accurate prediction and detection of disease outbreaks in a timely manner can have a big positive impact on the entire health care system. Our method utilizes machine learning in identifying interesting patterns related to target disease outbreak from search keyword logs. We conducted experiments on the flu disease, which is the most searched disease in the interest of this problem. We showed examples of keywords that can be good predictors of outbreaks of the flu. Our method proved that the correlation between search queries and keyword trends are truly reliable in the sense that it can be used to predict the outbreak of the disease.

The article examines the role and peculiarities of the internet in Thailand as well as its influence on the development of democracy in the country. At present, information technology is becoming an essential communication tool and the internet plays an important role in political communication. The author uses comparative political method to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using the internet as a communication instrument in democratic society. Also, the article focuses on the function of the internet as an information transmission channel. The analysis results show that the main advantage of using the internet as a political communication tool is low cost of information distribution as well as allround access to various information sources. This encourages citizens to participate in political activities of the state. On the other hand, the mass distribution of the internet as the main source of information has its disadvantages: unreliability of data, wide access to false information and discordance of opinions. In Thailand, citizens do not have free access to the Internet, so it is doubtful that it will have a great impact on the development of democracy in the country.

Introduction: Nowadays the number of people suffering from different non-communicable diseases is continuously rising. However, the risk of the incidence of these diseases can be reduced with the help of conscious and healthy lifestyle. Aim: The main aim of the study was to explore Hungarian consumers’ attitude related to healthy diet. Method: A questionnaire survey was conducted with 473 respondents. Results: According to the participants it is difficult to make head or tail of information about healthy nutrition, and the “Internet” is the most frequently used source of information. With cluster analysis 3 significantly different consumer groups were identified: participants of the “ambitious” group show positive attitude towards healthy diet; the “health conscious” cluster cares about and actively supports health and diet; and members of the “indifferent” cluster are less interested and do not make a remarkable effort for their healthy diet. Conclusions: Results of the questionnaire survey pointed out the importance of targeted information to relevant consumer groups, as well as the importance of popularization of accurate and reliable information sources. Furthermore, presentation and popularization of cost-effective healthy nutrition are of outstanding importance, especially for consumers in need (e.g. elderly, low-income people). Orv. This article seeks to interrogate the advantages and disadvantages of beneficiation law for Botswana’s mining industry and its implications for foreign investment protection. Furthermore, it argues that the enactment of beneficiation law could stimulate economic growth and development in Botswana. On a proper analysis of the potential of beneficiation law it seems plain that it may facilitate the integration, of among others, the cutting and polishing segments through the backward and forward linkages in the entire diamond value chain to move Botswana diamond industry a step further as a new and emerging jewellery manufacturing and retail center in order to derive maximum returns from the rough diamond production. Quite clearly, cutting and polishing of diamonds in Botswana is bound to promote employment which in turn will promote demand for goods and services that would have a positive impact on economic growth in Botswana.  The paper concludes that on a balance, the opportunities accruable from the enactment of this law far outweigh the downsides and will not in any way scare investors away as some have perceived it.
