Introduction: Basic first aid knowledge helps children to deal with emergency situations. Everyone needs to teach children about being mentally prepared for emergencies. Children should be taught about different first aid measures, both at home and at school, which helps emphasize the importance of child safety. This enables them overcome difficult situations like injuries, burns and outdoor emergencies. First aid is all about using common sense in the hour of need. Objectives of the study: To evaluate the effectiveness of self Instructional module by comparing the pretest and post test knowledge of school children. Method and Material: quantitative pre experimental one group pre test post test research design was used. by using Simple random sampling technique. This study was also done on 120 samples; data was collected by semi structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding First aid and safety measure among Early Adolescent age (10-14 year). Results: The pre test means score was 10.58, standard deviation was 1.71 and the mean % was 52.9. The post test means score was 14.94, standard deviation was 1.39 and the mean % was 74.7. The difference in mean% was 21.8. The calculated ‘t’ value of 22.31 which showed high statistical significance at p<0.001 level. There was no significant association of post test level of knowledge with any of the demographic variables. Regarding First aid and safety measure. Conclusion: The present study assessed the knowledge of school children regarding first aid and safety measures, the school children had inadequate knowledge regarding first aid safety measures. After reading Self Instructional Module, there was a significant improvement in school children knowledge regarding first aid and safety measures.

Background: Preventable medical emergencies and accidents accounts for a major share of mortality worldwide. First-aid is the provision of initial, on spot management for an illness or injury, meted out by a trained person, who is not an expert, till professional medical assistance is available. School children have often been projected as a potentially promising agent for radically revolutionizing the health scenario of our society, if properly mentored. The aim of study was to assess the changes in knowledge and attitude of adolescent school children towards first-aid management, after appropriate educational intervention. Methods: It was a school based quasi-experimental study conducted among 201 adolescent children. Baseline knowledge and attitude about first-aid management of selected medical emergencies were assessed using pre-designed, pre-tested questionnaire. Then, educational intervention was administered in the form of lectures and demonstrations. Post-interventional evaluation was done using the same questionnaire, after two weeks of intervention. Data was analyzed by SPSS version 16.0.Results: Health professionals (29.2%) and teachers (26.1%) were the primary source of knowledge. Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks test was carried out to determine effect of intervention on knowledge and attitude scores of the students. There was a statistically significant increase in knowledge (Z=-10.982, p<0.001) with large effect size (r=0.54) and an increase in attitude, though not statistically significant (Z=-1.949, p=0.05) with small effect size (r=0.09).Conclusions: There is a need for a uniform, interactive module including hands on activities and periodic mock drills to be incorporated as a separate entity to encourage participation.

Recent research has identified excessive device focus as a serious problem in collaborative mobile learning as it undermines key ideas of learners engaging with their co-learners in context-rich authentic settings. Various recommendations have been formulated to address device focus in the design of mobile learning technology and pedagogy and foster students’ engagement with both their peers and their environment. This paper describes how some of these recommendations have been implemented and extended in the design of Invisible Buildings, a mobile collaborative game-based activity for schoolchildren. It reports the results of an empirical evaluation of the learning experience with primary school children, focusing on students’ engagement with their social and physical context during learning activities, and providing insights into their behaviour and strategies with respect to device sharing. Findings broadly confirm the effectiveness of the implemented measures and show good student acceptance of the tools employed and the overall learning experience.

Kata kunci: anak sekolah dasar, anti bullying, board game AbstractThe case of bullying in Indonesia is a serious social problem to be pursued, specifically among elementary school children due to badly impacting children's morals and can hurt others. On the other hand, teachers and parents thought that bullying behavior is a process of child development so that there has been no action to overcome the problem of bullying. Anti-bullying educational messages conveyed through board games befit to persuade children to have a positive attitude to "stop bullying" when they see bullying in the school environment. This research uses a qualitative method with primary data collection through in-depth interviews and secondary data through literature study. The concept compiled is the result of fishbone and 5W+1H analysis in the form of creative board game solutions, creative concepts for anti-bullying messages, and the keyword "Fun Positive Learning" is applied to the design of the board game components. Anti-bullying educational board game with the title Dare to Be Good! designed with attractive visuals and fun gameplay in the form of questions as case studies of bullying in the school environment and answer choices as anti-bullying messages to elementary school children. Keywords: anti bullying, board game, elementary school children

IntroductionFirst aid training for lay people is recognised as an important capacity building component of pre-hospital care in communities. In countries such as Australia, this training is increasingly targeted to school children, but relatively little attention is directed to knowledge retention or optimal training methods for this population. This literature review aimed to determine whether the published literature demonstrates that first aid knowledge is retained by school children who have learnt first aid from professional first aid providers.MethodsA systematic search of the peer-reviewed and grey literature was conducted for narrative review. Journal articles were retrieved from three databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, ERIC) using the search terms ‘first aid’; ‘resuscitation’; ‘training’; ‘child*’; and ‘school’. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied and review findings organised thematically. Results The search yielded four primary studies of European school children aged between 4 and 12 years trained by professional first aid providers. Subsequent review identified emergent themes of Resuscitative first aid and Non-resuscitative first aid. Heterogeneity was apparent in training and evaluation methods, and study quality varied. Reported first aid knowledge retention was mixed.ConclusionThere is a lack of quality evidence to guide optimal training methods and maximise first aid knowledge retention in school children. To date, research in this area has been limited to Europe. Further research is therefore recommended. Formal evaluation of professional first aid training can help guide training methods and enhance first aid knowledge retention in school children, thereby building more robust first aid capacity in the community.
