Knowledge and attitude are essential components of food security as malnutrition remains a critical public health concern among adolescents. The study evaluates the effectiveness of a Triple Benefit Health Education Intervention on knowledge, attitude and food security towards malnutrition among adolescent girls. This was a cluster randomized controlled trial among 417 randomly selected adolescent girls aged 10 to 19 years old in Maiduguri, Borno state, Nigeria from October 2019 to March 2020. About 208 respondents were assigned to experimental while 209 to control group, respectively, using an opaque sealed envelope. A structured questionnaire using KoBo Collect Toolbox was used for the collection of data at baseline, three and six-months post intervention while the data collected were analyzed using generalized estimating equation (GEE). The outcome of the baseline shows no statistically significant difference in sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, attitude and food security between experimental and control groups. The study reveals a statistically significant difference between experimental and control groups for knowledge (p < 0.001; p < 0.001), attitude (p < 0.001; p < 0.001) and food security (p = 0.026; p = 0.001) at three and six-months post intervention, respectively. The triple benefit health education intervention package employed in this study can serve as an intervention tool to combat malnutrition among adolescent girls in Nigeria at large.

Dental students are an interesting population because they are expected to have a higher level of knowledge of and to exhibit better oral hygiene habits, and thus have a greater impact on the environment, families, and society as a whole. The aim of this research was to determine the state of oral hygiene in dental students before and after the interventional health education program. The research sample consisted of 119 students of dentistry in their first and fourth years of study. The first research stage was conducted before health education intervention (for the evaluation of selected oral health parameters, the Decayed, Missing and Filled index, Greene–Vermillion index, Silness–Löe plaque index, Silness–Löe gingival index, and the Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs index were used). The second stage was conducted as a clinical measurement of oral health changes. The conducted health education intervention, to an extent, led to changes in the state of oral hygiene among the students, and thus healthier habits. There was a statistically significant difference in the examined population between the beginning of the study and after the health education intervention program. Although a significant improvement in oral hygiene and oral health was noticed after the health education intervention program, the state of oral hygiene was still not at a satisfactory level among the dental students, contrary to our expectations.

Abstract Background The suspected or actual effects on health of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDC) and their ubiquitous presence in everyday life justify the implementation of health promotion interventions. These interventions should ideally be applied during critical windows like pregnancy. Perinatal environmental health education interventions may help to reduce EDC exposure during pregnancy. Methods/design PREVED (Pregnancy, PreVention, Endocrine Disruptors) is an open-label randomized controlled trial assessing the impact of environmental health education intervention on EDC exposure during pregnancy. Inclusion, consent, and randomization take place during the first trimester. The participants are randomly allocated into three groups: (i) control group (information leaflet on EDCs), (ii) intervention group in neutral location (information leaflet and workshops in a meeting room), and (iii) intervention group in contextualized location (information leaflet and workshops in a real apartment). Workshops are organized between the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Main outcome is the percentage of participants who reported consuming manufactured/industrial food. Secondary outcomes are as follows: (i) psycho-social dimensions, (ii) EDC concentrations in urine, (iii) EDC concentration in colostrum, and (iv) percentage of participants who reported consuming paraben-free personal care products. Discussion PREVED is a ground-breaking intervention research project dedicated to perinatal environmental health education that aims to identify pollutant sources in daily life and to offer accessible and realistic alternative solutions, by promoting the sharing of know-how and experience in a positive and non-alarmist approach. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03233984 (current status: ongoing). Retrospectively registered on 31 July 2017 (https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03233984) because when the first participant was enrolled in this non-drug intervention, ClinicalTrials.gov was centered in therapeutic trials. The World Health Organization Trial Registration Data Set is in Additional file 1.

The study aims to provide knowledge of self-care for patients with COVID 19 and with heart failures. In the United States, between 2011 and 2014, an estimated 6.5 million Americans over the age of 20 had chronic heart failure The estimated prevalence of heart failure in Asia ranges from 1.26% to 6.7%, in Southeast Asian countries from 4.5% to 6.7%. This study used Health education intervention that was carried out for 90 patients with chronic heart failure inpatient treatment at Cardiology Department - Nam Dinh General Hospital. The rate of heart failure in Korea was estimated at 1.53% in 2013. The frequency of heart failure in Korea is expected to double, from 1.60% in 2015 to 3.35% in 2040. By 2040, more than 1.7 million Koreans are expected to have heart failure .In Japan, an estimated 1.0 million patients have heart failure and the number of outpatients with left ventricular dysfunction is expected to gradually increase to 1.3 million by 2030 In China, 4.2 million people suffer from heart failure and 500,000 new cases are diagnosed each year). We perform method of one-group intervention study with before-after comparison. Health education intervention was carried out in 90 patients with chronic heart failure inpatient treatment at Cardiology Department - Nam Dinh General Hospital.  Our results show that patients with cardiovascular disease need to be aware that they are a very high risk group for infection as well as serious complications that may occur if they are unfortunately infected with COVID-19. This research finding and recommended healthy foods to support for better health of patients with chronic heart failure in many developing countries. Last but not least, vital roles of nurses in Nam Dinh and Vietnam hospitals have been increasing in recent years in helping patients and help them to gain knowledge for self-care with COVID 19 and with heart failures and practice “Maintenance of care” of patients with chronic heart failure.

Abstract Background Tuberculosis remains a serious public health threat to people of all sexes and ages in Nigeria. Any intervention that could improve the knowledge of tuberculosis and treatment services is expected to improve case finding and ultimately the cure rates. The world health organization global Tuberculosis report, 2014 shows that Enugu recorded slight increase in all cases of Tuberculosis and reporting remains low. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of a health education intervention on knowledge and management of tuberculosis among patent medicine vendors in Enugu Methods This is an educational interventional study carried out among 400 patent medicine vendors in Enugu. The baseline data on knowledge and management practice was determined using an interviewer-administered semi-structured. Results we found out that level of education was significantly associated with TB-related knowledge and management. The baseline study shows that the patent medicine vendors (PMVs) have poor knowledge of Tuberculosis prior to this study. This agreed to the preliminary investigation which shows that they contribute 65.6% to increase in multi-drug resistant TB, poor case finding /reporting in Enugu. The post assessment results, shows increase in knowledge of tuberculosis and management of TB among the PMVs Conclusions The health education impacted significantly on the knowledge of the PMVs on Tuberculosis. Therefore, emphasis should be laid to more train and retrain the PMVs in toward improving TB case detection. Key messages Health education, Knowledge, tuberculosis, PMVs
