Specialized anti-corruption institutions are not product of the new age. First specialized departments in fighting against corruption went into effect in the middle of last century, but the beginning of creation of these departments has been connected with founding of the most significant specialized institutions. Although its effects on democratic institutions and economic and social development have long been apparent, the fight against corruption has only recently been placed high on the international policy agenda. The UN Convention Against Corruption, which came into force in 2005, is the most universal in its approach; it covers a very broad range of issues including the formation of specialised bodies responsible for preventing corruption and for combating corruption through law enforcement. It is the author’s intention to present to the public the organizational solutions of the anticorruption bodies predicted in the UN Convention against Corruption and folloving standards to act effectively. On the one hand, this text represents models of specialized anti-corruption bodies in the world, and on the other hand, it contains display of institutional anti-corruption model in Republic of Serbia as well, with the focus on the Department for Corruption Suppression (OBPK) in the Ministry of Interior and special departmens of Public prosecutor's offices. In order to compare efficiency of police and prosecutorial work, a data analysis was performed for the period before and the period after the Law on organization and competence of state bodies in supression of organized crime, terrorism and corruption, entry into force.

Zambian communities are rich with voices of the value of adult education, albeit unsystematically documented. It is these insightful voices that this article unveils. Phenomenological research design was employed. Three research sites were targeted comprising two chiefdoms and covering four villages, two villages from each chief dom. Data was collected using interviews and focus group discussions. After coding the data, narrative and thematic methods of data analysis were used. Findings reveal that the value of adult education is measured informally by the number of the adult population able to access social amenities equitably and equally on one hand, and on the other, by their ability to read the ‘word and the world’ as purported by Freire and Macedo (1987).

This chapter examines the dual role of arbitrators as service providers and adjudicators. The public conceptualization of international arbitrators has often leaned towards seeing them as either contract providers of sorts or adjudicators, but never both. The arbitrator's status is thus often a conflict between ‘service provider’ and ‘justice provider’. Yet arbitrators are, as discussed in previous chapters, professionals whose ethics are grounded in real-world perspectives. This chapter analyses several ideas and philosophies that corroborate a dual conception of the ideal arbitrator as both service provider and justice provider, and that neither aspect is independent from the other. Several institutions across the world are beginning to recognize this duality, fortunately, as the greatest strength of an international arbitrator is his ability to straddle these dual roles, rather than subject themselves to mere one-dimensional representations.

The Two-Eyed Seeing framework advocates viewing the world with one eye grounded in Indigenous knowledges while the other eye is grounded in Westernized knowledges. Research funding bodies have recently advocated for its use in research with Indigenous peoples, yet its interpretation and application in the literature has been inconsistent. To contribute to its maturation as a framework, this article describes the application of Two-Eyed Seeing to a community-engaged study aimed at understanding how Indigenous mothers experience using health care to meet the health needs of their infants in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Two-Eyed Seeing was applied to the research while applying the four R’s as suggested by Kirkness and Barnhardt’s: relevance, respect, responsibility, and reciprocity. While providing practical applications of this framework to research with Indigenous mothers and infants in an urban off-reserve setting, this article also contributes an approach to data analysis that incorporates Indigenous and Western knowledges within interpretive description methodology.

Abstract Discussions about tax evasion often assume that tax evasion is not desirable. Thus, this paper analyses people’s value regarding tax evasion using the World Value Surveys. Our data analysis shows that tax morality did not fall significantly in the OECD and developing countries. On the other hand, there is a decline in tax morality for the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe countries. Furthermore, we find a significant correlation between tax morality and the size of shadow economy. Finally, we focus on constitutions, showing the importance of a legitimate political process.

The existence of the Kereta Rel Listrik Commuter Line as the backbone of transportation in the Jakarta - Bogor - Depok - Tangerang - Bekasi - Banten area has a very important role for commuter mobility around Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta. With an average number of 1.1 million passengers per day, Kereta Rel Listrik is one of the factors supporting Indonesia's economy and growth in various sectors. On the other hand, the Covid-19 pandemic that hit the world caused restrictions on human movement which resulted in a decline in all economic sectors. The purpose of this research is to obtain optimal train schedule recommendations for the operation of the Kereta Rel Listrik Commuter Line in the Rangkasbitung - Tanah Abang service to carry passengers optimally while adhering to the physical distancing protocol set by the Minister of Transportation to prevent the wider spread of Covid-19. With such a large amount of data that must be processed, Exploratory Data Analysis is one of the choices we take to process the above data to get satisfactory results.

The article presents Lithuanian linguistic cultural image of Truth (Tiesa) reconstructed from lexicographic data. The analysis of the lexicographic definitions of this lexeme in Lithuanian dictionaries (The Dictionary of Lithuanian Language, The Dictionary of Contemporary Lithuanian,  the dictionaries of synonyms and antonyms and Lithuanian etymological sources) distinguishes two main aspects of its meaning: (1) archaic, associated with jurisdiction, when Truth also meant law, justice and court, and (2) contemporary, used in modern Lithuanian, when Truth is explained though its classical correspondence definition: truth is what corresponds to the reality. Therefore, two semantic levels are distinguished: synchronic and diachronic. The diachronic level analysis shows the semantic development of the word, the specification of its meaning (the loss of the primary judicial meaning), and the synchronic analysis shows that truth in Lithuanian language is a very complex and contradictory concept, containing numerous connotative meanings and semantic shades. The analysis of lexicographic data presents the following linguistic cultural image of Lithuanian Truth: it is a value which is honourable and sacred, unconcealable; on the one hand it possesses many positive aspects, such as courage and the ability to save the world, on the other hand, it is hardly distinguished from lie, very obscure and unfair, may not be integral and is often unpleasant. It is social and religious honesty, directness, avoiding intentional and unintentional deviation. Truth cannot be contrived or human-created.
