When an individual dies, the role of the family member(s) is clearly prescribed by society: support, presence, caring, and remembrance. Traditionally, the definition of “family” has broadened to create the “extended family” or “expanded family” with members defined by deep bonds, relationships, and friendships. Currently, close friends who become the extended/expanded family, can be as central as kin to family structure and stability. Therefore, when one member of an extended family dies, the death resonates throughout the entire system affecting not only the lives of the immediate family members, but also those in the expanded circle of family relationships. This article describes the relationships in one extended family and discusses the struggles and counseling interventions used when one member of an extended family suddenly dies.

Abstract.Metaphors are a useful resource not only to influence family relationships but to achieve positive changes in parenting behavior. Family intervention is essential in all forms of intervention, to the point that if there are no changes in family systems, it will be very difficult for a counselor or an educational psychologist to have positive effect on children and adolescents. The family often contributes not only in maintaining the problems alive, but also in generating them. Adults immersed in a negatively balanced family system generally also show defensive behaviors induced by emotional distress or unconscious personal insecurity. The use of the metaphor involves the transmission of symbols or anchors, which can serve as an effective tool to control this type of behavior, and is crucial to successful intervention. In this paper, practical examples of different metaphors for parents and their objective in therapy will be presented. Keywords: family intervention, psychology intervention , family relationships, metaphorResumen.

This study focuses on the pattern of gender communication within the family. The purpose of this study is to analyze the gender communication pattern that is considered still inequality in the family. Four patterns of family communication consist of; Equality Pattern, Balance Split Pattern, Unbalance Split Pattern and Monopoly Pattern. The four patterns illustrate the division of roles and position of each member in the family. The findings in this study are the pattern of communication equation is the most supportive pattern in instilling gender values in the family because this pattern emphasizes equality among family members. Indeed, family relationships can be implemented depending on a number of factors, including: First, the number of interaction systems in the family should be considered. Second, family structure affects relationships. Third, family relationships are influenced by the nature of parents. Fourth, the distance between one and the other affects the relationship within the family. Although it is concurrently recognized that socio-cultural constructions continue to have a significant effect on the division of roles played by men (husband) and women (wife) in family institutions.

Family members bear primary responsibility for the care of dependent and vulnerable individuals in our society, and therefore family relationships are infused with fiduciary obligation. Most importantly, the legal relationship between parents and their minor children is best understood as one that is regulated by fiduciary principles. Husbands and wives relate to one another as equals under contemporary law, but this relationship as well is subject to duties of care and loyalty when either spouse is in a condition of dependency. Finally, if an adult is severely intellectually disabled or becomes incapacitated and in need of a guardian, a family member is often preferred to serve in this role. This chapter examines the application of fiduciary principles and doctrine to close family relationships. The chapter explains that while the parent-child and spousal relationships are governed by fiduciary principles and duties, enforcement of these duties (at least when family relationships are intact) is largely accomplished through informal bonding and monitoring mechanisms. In contrast, when family members become guardians of adult relatives, including elderly parents and disabled adult children, obligations are formally enforced under fiduciary law with minimal recognition of the family bond. The chapter examines the rationales for these contrasting approaches and questions whether adjustments are indicated. It concludes that modest relaxation of formal fiduciary obligations in the context of close family relationships might sometimes serve the interests of the incapacitated adult by supporting her relationship with the family guardian.

Intensified anxiety responses and even symptoms of post-traumatic stress are commonly observed under quarantine conditions. In this study, the effects on fear, anxiety and wellbeing of the recent pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 were investigated in a sample of otherwise healthy Hungarians. Taking the family as a microsystem, differences in gender, age, family relationships and time spent in isolation were the main focus of this investigation. 346 parent-child dyads were examined; the children were 11-17 years of age. Standard psychological questionnaires (Perceived Stress Scale, WHO Wellbeing Index), and an open question test (the Metamorphosis test) were used, and the results analysed with the aid of basic statistical methods. Stress levels and wellbeing displayed a significant negative correlation with each other in both parents and children. Parental stress and levels of wellbeing had a weak but significant impact on the wellbeing of their children. Among the demographic variables examined, none of them was found to explain the wellbeing or stress level of parents. Natural catastrophes, such as pandemics, create a stressful social environment for parents, and therefore directly impact the psychological wellbeing of all family members.

The research shows that one of the legal relations in civil matters is the family relationship, having an extensive content. It includes Family Law and the actual family relationships. While there are factual elements in the family relationships, only marriage registration gives rise to the property and personal rights between spouses since marriage is a legal fact of law. However, it has been stated correctly in the legal literature that the actual co-existence of partners is such a family relationship, in which couples enter into marriage without registration. The inner world of unmarried couples is significantly free from legal regulation. Family relationships, by their characteristics, are inconceivable without the personal and intimate aspects contained in certain factual foundations and found in family relationships.
