Problem-solving is a process or thinking activity to solve a problem. Mathematical problem-solving skillis needed for students both in the process of understanding mathematics itself and in everyday life. The problem solving can beachieved by implementingthe learning using a problem-solving approachwhich trains students to deal with various problems including individuals and group problemsto be addressed individually or together. This learning is oriented towards the investigation and discovery which is solving the problems. It is the basis for students to solve problems critically, systematically, logically, and creatively as well as the ability to collaborateeffectively and to present fundamental knowledge which in turn can improvethe solving skill. This study aimed to examine whether the improvement of mathematical problem-solving skillof students learned with the problem-solving approach wasbetter than students taught using the conventional learning. The improvement was examined based on the students’ levels. This study applied a pre-test and post-test control group design. The population of the study was Year 7 students of one of the junior high schools in Pidie, Indonesia, consisting of seven classes in 2017/2018.Two classes, a control, and an experimental class were selected as the sample through purposive sampling technique. The instrument used to obtain the data is the mathematical problem-solving skill test.The data was then analyzed by employing a two-way ANOVA test using SPSS. The results of the study showed that the improvement of mathematical problem-solving skill of the students learning with the problem-solving approach is better than the students experiencing the conventional learning, reviewed based on student levels. There is no interaction between the learning models and student levels on mathematical problem-solving skills. The resultsare expected to be used as a reference for mathematics teachers to apply the problem-solving approach in the learning process to improve mathematical problem-solving skills.

AbstrakTujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui apakah peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Means End Analysis (MEA) lebih baik dari pada konvensional, untuk mengetahui sikap kemandirian belajar siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika menggunakan model pembelajaran Means End Analysis (MEA), dan untuk mengetahui hambatan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Metode penelitiannya adalah eksperimen kuasi dan desain penelitiannya Nonequivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA PASUNDAN CIKALONGKULON dengan sampel sebanyak dua kelas. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Kelas XI MIPA-3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI MIPA-1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, angket dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Means End Analysis (MEA) lebih baik dari konvensional. Hasil angket siswa kelas XI MIPA-3 memperoleh hasil hampir seluruhnya positif respon siswa terhadap model pembelajaran Means End Analysis (MEA).Kata Kunci: Kemandirian, MEA, Pemecahan Masalah Matematis. Increased Mathematical Problem Solving Ability and Student Learning Independence Using the Means-End Analysis Learning Model AbstractThe purpose of this research is to find out whether the improvement of students 'mathematical problem-solving abilities using the Means-End Analysis (MEA) learning model is better than conventional learning, to determine the attitudes of students' learning independence towards mathematics learning using the Means-End Analysis (MEA) learning model, and to find out the obstacles of students in solving problems mathematical problem solving abilities. The research method is a quasi-experiment and the research design is Nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students of class XI SMA PASUNDAN CIKALONGKULON with a sample of two classes. The sampling technique uses a purposive sampling technique. Class XI MIPA-3 as an experimental class and class XI MIPA-1 as a control class. The instruments were in the form of tests of mathematical problem-solving abilities, questionnaires, and interviews. Based on the results of data analysis, the improvement of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities using the Means-End Analysis (MEA) learning model is better than conventional. The results of the XI MIPA-3 class questionnaire obtained almost entirely positive student responses to the Means-End Analysis (MEA) learning model.Keywords: Independence, MEA, Mathematical Problem Solving.

The purposes of this research is to the differences in mathematical problem-solving skills enhancement and self-efficacy among students who had learned Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and students who received conventional instructions. Reseach use quasi-experimental was used pre-test research design posttest control group design. The experimental group was treated using RME  approach while the control group gain use conventional approach. To gather the instrument is the form of mathematical problem solving ability test, and a questionnaire to determine students' self-efficacy toward mathematics. This research was conducted at Secondary Islamic School . The population is  grade VIII students MTsN Model Banda Aceh inl year 2012/2013. The samples were  two classes, VIII-7, class as the experimental class and the control class VIII-6, by purposive sampling technique. The researc found that studens mathematical problem-solving ability which were taken by with RME approach better than conventional approaches. Based on the analysis of self-efficacy RME class increases more than the self-efficacy of students who received conventional learning. Furthermore there a relationship between the ability of solving mathematical problems with self-efficacy of students in the experimental class and control with very low qualifications.

The purpose of this study was to find out that Think Pair Share with mathematical comics is more effective than Think Pair Share learning without using comics. The research method used is an experiment with the design of Post-test-Only Control Design. The sample size was 64 students taken using cluster random sampling technique. The instrument used in this study is the Mathematical Problem Solving Test. Data analysis techniques were used using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test non-parametric statistical test. The results of the study showed that the learning of Think Pair Share models by using mathematical comics was no more effective than learning Think Pair Share without using comics. Although this study shows the opposite results from existing theoretical studies, in general, the use of learning media such as mathematical comics collaborated with any model can make mathematics learning more effective.

This research is motivated by the students 'mathematical problem solving ability is still low, because mathematics learning in the classroom is not built to hone problem solving skills and the student worksheets used do not help students in honing students' mathematical problem solving skills, so the writer applies Polya's learning strategy with the help of problem solving sheet on social arithmetic material. This study aims to describe the steps of implementing Polya's learning strategy with the help of problem solving sheets in solving mathematical problems in social arithmetic material and to test mathematical problem solving skills by applying Polya's learning strategies with the help of problem solving sheets is it better than not implementing learning strategies Polya. This research was conducted using a quasi experimental method, with a population of all students of class VII Junior High School 3 Cisauk, Indonesia. The sample was selected using purposive sampling technique, namely students of class VII-6 and grade VII-7. Collecting data on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities using the final test (posttest). The results showed that Polya's learning strategy with the help of problem solving sheets on social arithmetic material was implemented properly and in accordance with Polya's steps. Based on the statistical test, it shows that the mathematical problem solving ability of students whose learning applies Polya's learning strategy with the help of problem-solving sheets is better than students whose learning does not apply Polya's learning strategy on class VII social arithmetic material at SMP Negeri 3 Cisauk, Indonesia.

Mathematical problem solving and critical thinking is two skills that need to be improved through learning mathematics. Metacognitive approach is one approach to improve them. This study aims to examine differences in the improvement of problem solving skills and mathematical critical thinking between students who get learning with a metacognitive approach and students who get conventional learning. This research is an experimental study with a pre-test post-test control group design research design. The population was all students of class XI of SMAN 3 Banda Aceh by taking samples of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class through purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using problem solving ability tests and mathematical critical thinking tests. Data analysis used t-test and analysis of variance. The results show that overall the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving and critical thinking skills that are learning with a metacognitive approach are better than students who obtain conventional learning, and there is an interaction between learning approaches and student ratings on mathematical problem-solving abilities

The purpose of this study was to analyze the mathematical problem-solving ability and characters of students who were taught using problem-based learning and ordinary learning based on Islamic perspectives. The instrument used in this study was a test of problem-solving ability and a students’ character questionnaire. This research was a quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test control group design. The sample of this research was 84 students from Private Islamic School in Medan, North Sumatera, by using a purposive sampling technique. The data in this research was declared homogenous and normal after being tested using the Levene’s Test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test. The hypothesis analyzes used was the Two Way-ANOVA test assisted by SPSS 25. The result showed that there was an improvement in mathematical problem-solving ability and students' characters through problem-based learning based on Islamic perspectives. However, there was no interaction between students' gender and problem-solving ability and character improvement based on Islamic perspectives. The gender factor in problem-based learning was not related to students’ cognitive and affective aspects. Each student with any gender had difference characters, especially related to Islamic perspectives. This research-proven that problem-based learning model had an important role in teaching and learning, and it can be used to improve students' mathematical and character problem-solving ability.

<p class="Afiliasi" align="left"><strong>Abstrak:</strong></p><p>Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis perbedaam peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan keterampilan sosial siswa yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran  kooperatif tipe STADdengan siswa yang diberi pembelajaran langsung. Penelitian ini merupakan salah satu jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan model kuasi eksperimen dengan desain kelompok <em>pre test-post test control group design</em>. Populasi dalam penelitian ini meliputi seluruh siswa dari salah satu SMP swasta yang berada di Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan. Sampel dalam penelitian ini melibatkan siswa kelas VIII sebanyak 30 orang pada kelas eksperimen dan 30 orang pada kelas kontrol yang diambil secara acak menggunakan <em>cluster random sampling</em>. Jenis data dalam penelitian ini adalah data kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang berbentuk <em>essay test</em> dan angket keterampilan sosial siswa dalam skala likert pada mata pelajaran matematika. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik inferensial menggunakan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai sig   = 0.00001 &lt;  α = 0,05 sehingga H<sub>o</sub> ditolak dan H<sub>a</sub> diterima yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan sikap keterampilan sosial yang diperoleh siswa antara pembelajaran kooperatif tipeSTAD dengan pembelajaran langsung. This research is a type of quantitative research using a quasi-experimental model with a pre-test-post-test control group design. The population in this study included all students from one of private junior high school in Percut Sei Tuan. The sample in this study involved 30 class VIII students in the experimental class and 30 people in the control class who were taken randomly using cluster random sampling. The type of data in this research is quantitative data. The instruments used to obtain the data in this study were a test of mathematical problem-solving abilities in the form of an essay test and a questionnaire for students' social skills on a Likert scale in mathematics. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics using t-test. Based on the results of data analysis, the value of sig = 0.00001 &lt;α = 0.05 so that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant difference in the increase in mathematical problem-solving abilities and attitudes of social skills obtained by students between cooperative learning type STAD and direct learning. This research is motivated by the importance and still not optimal problem solving ability of student mathematical problem. This study examines the improvement of students 'mathematical problem-solving abilities that acquire Guided Inquiry learning with Concrete-Representational-Abstract approach (ITCRA) and students who have received conventional learning, in terms of overall and math skills categories KAM (high, middle, low). This research is a quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The population is grade VIII SMPN 1 Padang Panjang Lesson Year 2014/2015, and the samples are two classes from seven existing classes. Instruments used in the form of tests, observation sheets, and interview guidelines. The data obtained were analyzed using the difference test, ie t-test and mann-whitney. The results showed that: 1) The achievement and improvement of mathematical problem solving ability of students who received ITCRA learning overall better than those who received conventional learning, 2) the increased mathematical problem solving ability of moderate KAM and low KAM better than those with conventional learning, whereas in high KAM, students who received ITCRA learning was no better than that of conventional learning, and 3) there was a difference in the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities of high KAM categories with KAM moderate and low category students who received ITCRA learning. <p class="06IsiAbstrak"><span lang="EN-GB">This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the problem-posing type pre-solution posing model against students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This type of research is an experimental study with a pre-test post-test control group design. The population in this study was 256 students grade VII one of Junior High School in Salatiga in the academic year 2018/2019 divided into 8 classes. Through the cluster random sampling technique, the VIIE class students were selected as the experimental class and the VIIH class students as the control class. The technique of collecting data on mathematical problem-solving ability through pre-test and post-test. The data analysis technique used the independent sample t-test on the N-Gain score. The results showed that the application of the problem-posing type pre-solution posing more effective against students' mathematical problem-solving abilities compared to students who received conventional learning.</span></p><p class="06IsiAbstrak"><span lang="EN-GB"><br /></span></p><p class="06IsiAbstrak">Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model problem posing tipe pre-solution posing terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan pretest-postest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 256 siswa kelas VII salah satu SMP di Kota Salatiga Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019 yang terbagi dalam 8 kelas. Melalui teknik cluster random sampling, terpilih siswa kelas VIIE sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas VIIH sebagai kelas kontrol.  Teknik Pengambilan data kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik melalui pretest dan posttest. Teknik analisis data menggunakan independent sample t-test pada N-Gain score. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model problem posing tipe pre-solution posing lebih efektif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa dibandingkan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran secara konvensional.</p><p class="06IsiAbstrak"><span lang="EN-GB"><br /></span></p>

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 on Education in Indonesia affects school activities rapidly. Teachers are no longer educated in classrooms only, but they can also utilize technology to conduct distance learning. One interactive application that can be used as a form of question exercise is Quizizz. Therefore, this research aims to: first, examine the effectiveness of students' activities by using Quizizz on mathematical problem-solving skills; second, investigate the differences in the increase in students' ability to solve mathematical problems between the class with and without the Quizizz-aided learning method; third, describe the activities of students who used the Quizizz-aided drill learning method; and fourth, describe the students' responses in using Quizizz. The research was quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The participants in this study are 67 of Grade10 students divided into experimental and control classes. Data collection techniques used were tests for students' mathematical problem-solving skills and questionnaires. The instruments were validated using Pearson correlation, while the reliability was tested using Cronbach's Alpha. Then, the N-gain test was used to analyze the data. The results showed that there was an effect on students’ learning activities by using Quizizz on their problem-solving skills. Besides, there was a difference in the improvement of problem-solving skills between the class with and without Quizizz-aided. Furthermore, students’ activities in three meetings have increased. Moreover, students provided a positive response in learning using Quizizz. Thus, it can be concluded that Quizizz is effective in improving mathematical problem-solving skills.
