Spiritual experience is often realized as a personal reality that is different from the doctrine of religious beliefs, but whether spiritual experience and religious beliefs are two constructs that are not related to each other is still a subject of debate on this secular oriented world. This study aims to explain the relationship between daily spiritual experience and religious beliefs. The subjects in this study were 69 early adults. The method of data collection in this study was carried out using the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale-Short Form and Religious Belief and Values Scale-Short Form. The results of the research data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation technique. The result shows a positive relationship between daily spiritual experiences and religious beliefs. Religious beliefs and values can encourage someone to find feelings of love, peace, and happiness in their daily spiritual experiences.

This exploratory descriptive study of spiritual experiences, well-being, and practices was conducted among 126 nursing students. Participants reported a higher level of spiritual well-being and life scheme than self-efficacy for well-being and life-scheme. Thus, students appeared to view the world and their role in it slightly more positively than their ability to affect their lives and make decisions. The students reported the most frequent spiritual experiences as being thankful for blessings; the next most frequent spiritual experiences having a desire to be close to God, feeling a selfless caring for others, and finding comfort in one’s religion and spirituality. Students used both conventional and unconventional spiritual practices. Further study is necessary to study the relationship among spiritual practices, daily spiritual experiences, and spiritual well-being among nursing students and to evaluate these before and after implementation of specific educational offerings focused on spirituality and spiritual care in nursing.

Spirituality is a key element of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) recovery. However, little is known about the potential religious and secular sources of spiritual experiences in AA fellowship. The aim of the study was to verify if in a sample of AA participants, meaning in life mediates the relationship between their religiousness and spiritual experiences, as well as between their involvement in AA and spiritual experiences. The study sample consisted of 70 Polish AA participants, and the following tools were used: the Alcoholics Anonymous Involvement Scale (AAIS); Santa Clara Strength of Religious Faith Questionnaire (SCSORFQ); Purpose in Life Test (PIL); two one-item measures regarding frequency of prayer and Mass attendance; and the Daily Spiritual Experiences Scale (DSES) duration of AA participation, which was positively related to involvement in addiction self-help groups and religiousness. Involvement in AA and religiousness were positively related to meaning in life, which in turn positively correlated with spiritual experiences. This research indicated that in a sample of AA participants, finding meaning in life partially mediates the relationship between religiousness and spiritual experiences, as well as fully mediating the relationship between involvement in AA and spiritual experiences. The theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

This study aims to test empirically the relationship between academic self concept and student’s academic achievement of SMK “A” Banyuputih. The hypothesis proposed that there is a positive relationship between academic self concept and student’s academic achievement. Participants of the study comprised 150 of SMK students. The research data obtained from academic self concept scale and students report. Data analyzed use product moment correlation technique. The results showed that the data obtained correlation values rxy = 0,325 with p = 0,001. This is indicate that there was a positive relationship between academic self concept and student’s academic achievement significantly.

Over the last three decades, research has established a strong link between attachment and well-being as well as social support and well-being. Past research found that attachment to church congregation predicted well-being over and above that predicted by attachment to God. However, it is unknown if attachment to church congregation predicts well-being over and above that predicted by social support. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine if attachment to church congregation could explain a portion of the variance in negative affect, positive affect, satisfaction with life, and daily spiritual experiences, beyond that explained by religious social support and perceived social support. The data from 201 participants indicated that religious social support, perceived social support, and attachment to church congregation each predicted different aspects of well-being. Only negative affect was predicted by attachment to church congregation beyond that predicted by social support. More research is needed to better understand the relationship between attachment to church congregation, social support, and well-being.

One of the factors that contribute to the athlete’s perfomance is his emotional state. Athletes who are emotionally unstable tend to be more easily expressed aggression in front of opponents. This research aims to investigate the relationship between emotional intellegence and aggressiveness among futsal athlete. It was hypothesized that there a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and aggressiveness. There were 111 futsal athletes of University X from many faculties in this research. Data analysis using Product Moment correlation technique from Pearson showed rxy=-0.488 with p<0,01 pointing out that there is significant negative correlation between emotional intelligence and aggressiveness among futsal athlete. That result proved that hypothesis was accepted.

In this paper, I examine the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) for measurement invariance across men and women. Data for this analysis is from the General Social Survey, a nationally representative dataset of participants from the United States. Using lavaan and semPlot packages in R, I created nested models to test for levels of invariance. Results indicated that a brief 5-item DSES construct achieved scalar invariance across groups, suggesting that the construct holds true for both men and women. These findings add support for testing gender differences for DSES using the brief 5-item DSES construct.

Spirituality and religiosity are complex cognitive phenomena; however, the relationship between spiritual experiences and epilepsy continues to be debated. Methods. Data from the daily spiritual experience scale (DSES) were related to EEG data and clinical variables of 100 adult people with epilepsy (PWEs). DSES scores were compared to 51 normal individuals (control group [CG]), with a significance level of P < .05. Results. The total score in the DSES was 36.1 ± 14 and 37.6 ± 13.2, respectively, in the PWEs and in the CG. In the PWEs, there was a correlation between DSES and age (Pearson's correlation; −0.22; P = .027) and educational level (0.207; P = .039). PWEs with ≥one seizure/month have a lower frequency of daily spiritual experiences than those with better controlled seizures ( T-test; 39.2 ± 16.2 vs 31.7 ± 7.6; P = .038). EEG epileptiform activity (EA) in the right hemisphere was associated with a higher frequency of spiritual experiences than those with left-hemisphere EA (29.8 ± 9.0 vs 38.5 ± 17.5; P = .010). Conclusion. Demographic aspects, EA in the right hemisphere, and lower seizure frequency are associated with daily spiritual experiences in epilepsy, suggesting an association between aspects of spirituality, epilepsy, and neurobiological correlates.
