We use IT applications to solve various problems, such as buying various things, communication or professional matters. Everything seems to be solved faster when we shop on online platforms (virtual stores) because we can analyse several offers, see the best deals and then decide which one suits our purpose. Sometimes the items bought online are returned for the following reasons: they do not look as they were presented on the website; these items have functional problems or do not fit (this is the situation with clothing and footwear products). Usually, the fit problems occur because the customer did not choose the right size, the model does not have a size range that fits the customer, or the customer has a particular body shape. The return rate (fit problem) can decrease if the customer can virtually try on the selected model during the purchase process to check how it looks on their body. Assuming that customers also have the option to personalise the product according to their body shape or desires, their satisfaction increases. In this case, the number of returned or unsold products is reduced, and a dynamic and positive advertising campaign for the brand can be carried out (based on customer reviews). This paper proposes an integrated solution for online marketing of customised clothing products (website for medium or small companies), using a virtual test room that simulates the product on the virtual mannequin in different positions (360°).

AbstractThe right ventricle´s (RV) characteristics—thin walls and trabeculation—make it challenging to evaluate extracellular volume (ECV). We aimed to assess the feasibility of RV ECV measurements in congenital heart disease (CHD), and to introduce a novel ECV analysis tool. Patients (n = 39) and healthy controls (n = 17) underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance T1 mapping in midventricular short axis (SAX) and transverse orientation (TRANS). Regions of interest (ROIs) were evaluated with regard to image quality and maximum RV wall thickness per ROI in pixels. ECV from plane ROIs was compared with values obtained with a custom-made tool that derives the mean T1 values from a “line of interest” (LOI) centered in the RV wall. In CHD, average image quality was good (no artifacts in the RV, good contrast between blood/myocardium), and RV wall thickness was 1–2 pixels. RV ECV was not quantifiable in 4/39 patients due to insufficient contrast or wall thickness < 1 pixel. RV myocardium tended to be more clearly delineated in SAX than TRANS. ECV from ROIs and corresponding LOIs correlated strongly in both directions (SAX/TRANS: r = 0.97/0.87, p < 0.001, respectively). In conclusion, RV ECV can be assessed if image quality allows sufficient distinction between myocardium and blood, and RV wall thickness per ROI is ≥ 1 pixel. T1 maps in SAX are recommended for RV ECV analysis. LOI application simplifies RV ECV measurements.

The following results on the low-energy (> 0.6 GeV and > 1.0 GeV) muons in air showers of size 105 to 2 × 107 at Ootacamund (800 g cm−2) are obtained: (1) The average total number of muons [Formula: see text] varies as Ne0.32 ± 0.2 for 105 < Ne < 106, and as Ne0.8 ± 0.15for 106 < Ne < 2 × 107. (2) In showers showing flat electron lateral structure, the [Formula: see text] variation with Ne is similar to (1). However, in steep showers, [Formula: see text] varies as Ne0.75 ± 0.15 in the whole size range 105 to 2 × 107. (3) "Muon-rich" showers of size < 106 have less energy in the electron–photon component compared to "normal" showers. No such difference is found for showers of size > 106. (4) There is a slight indication of a deficiency of muon-rich showers having a flat lateral distribution of electrons in the right ascension interval 15–21 hours for showers of size 106–107. A similar deficit of showers was observed by the Tokyo group for muon-rich showers in the same RA interval.

Objective: To estimate the maximum voluntary molar biting force (MBF) and incisor biting force (IBF) and their relationship to morphological variables in subjects with different vertical skeletal patterns. Materials and Methods: Maximum voluntary MBF, IBF, and morphological variables were recorded in 120 subjects (60 males and 60 females) with skeletal class I pattern in the age range of 14 to 24 years. All subjects were divided into 3 groups: Normodivergent, hypodivergent, and hyperdivergent, according to the maxillomandibular plane angle and Jarabak ratio. Bite force measurements were undertaken using a custom-made portable digital gnathodynamometer on the left and the right sides of the jaw in the molar and incisor regions during maximal clenching. Statistical analysis was performed using independent t-test, chi-square test, and ANOVA test using SPSS version 22.0.0.0 software. Results: MBF and IBF are influenced by gender with higher values obtained for male subjects in all groups in the following order: hypodivergent > normodivergent > hyperdivergent. No significant changes were seen with morphological variables in different groups. Conclusion: Molar and incisor biting forces are highest in hypodivergent subjects and least in hyperdivergent subjects as a reflection of jaw morphology and muscular efficiency. In all groups, males exhibit higher force values than females, underlining a strong gender influence on biting force and facial pattern.

To date the genus Diploplastron comprised only one species of ophryoscolecid ciliate, Diploplastron affine, which is characterized by having two retractable ciliary zones in the anterior end of the body, two slender and juxtaposed skeletal plates on the right side, a rod shape macronucleus, and two contractile vacuoles. During study on the characterization of rumen ciliate community composition in Brazilian domestic sheep, we observed ciliates with atypical morphology but with diagnostic features of genus Diploplastron. This study describes Diploplastron dehorityi, a new species of ophryoscolecid ciliate, that differs from D. affine, primarily, in the morphology of skeletal plates, morphology of nuclear apparatus and body shape. In addition to the similarities between the new species and congener species, D. dehorityi has some morphological similarities to species of genus Eremoplastron.

Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome is a rare congenital malformation which may be associated with macrodactyly. The main problem is the need for custom-made shoes. We describe the case of a female newborn affected by Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, with a larger and longer right foot; the difference increased progressively and, at 5 years of age, the right foot was 50% larger and 38% longer than the left one. Due to the progression of the deformity, reduction surgery was advised to reduce the foot’s width. Resection of the second ray and 2nd cuneiform was performed. The result was excellent and there were no complications during a 10-year follow-up period with a decrease of width and length difference to 10% and 4%, respectively, in comparison to the contralateral foot. There were no gait anomalies. Abnormal foot width and length represented the main problems and guided the surgical strategy. Second ray resection was effective, without complications and with a good long-term functional outcome. Possibility of wearing fashionable conventional shoes without insoles was achieved to the patient’s satisfaction

OBJECTIVES: Clinical conditions such as focal dystonia often require the assessment of atrophy and weakness of the finger muscles. However, due to a lack of well-established protocols, the current investigation focused on assessing the reliability of thickness and strength assessments of the flexor digitorum (FD) muscle, including both the superficialis and profundus components. As a secondary assessment, the reliability of the strength measurement of the extensor digitorum muscle was examined as well. METHODS: Different thickness measurements of the FD were taken via ultrasonography and averaged to estimate the mean thickness of the FD. Likewise, individual finger strength measurements taken by a custom-made finger pressure device were averaged to compute the mean strength of the flexor and extensor digitorum muscles. Test-retest reliability of the above measurements performed at two different time points (about 6 months apart) were examined on the right and left hands of 10 participants. RESULTS: Findings indicated excellent test-retest reliability (ICC > 0.92) for the mean thickness assessment of the FD and mean strength of the flexor and extensor digitorum for both dominant and non-dominant hands. The standard error of measurement was ≤4.3% for all three mean assessments, indicating high sensitivity. Likewise, the smallest detectable change was also sufficiently small for the mean thickness and mean strength of the flexor digitorum (≤5.1%) and moderately small (≤12%) for the strength of the extensor digitorum. CONCLUSIONS: Results indicated an excellent relative and absolute reliability, for both hands, for the mean thickness and strength assessments of the flexor digitorum muscle and for the mean strength of the extensor digitorum (measured for both hands). These measurements can be used for future investigations and can contribute to the establishment of more precise methods for assessing the muscles in the forearms which serve the hand.

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the contribution of the palmar radiocarpal ligament and the palmar ulnocarpal ligament to canine antebrachiocarpal joint stability. Materials and Methods The right carpus of four dog cadavers, free of musculoskeletal pathology, was stripped of muscle. Each specimen was placed into a custom-made joint testing machine and tested at 15° extension, and 0° and 15° flexion. A single motion tracking sensor was fixed to the metacarpal bones. All specimens were tested with all ligaments intact and after transection of the palmar radiocarpal and ulnocarpal ligaments. A range of weights between 0.2 and 2.0 kg was used to test the carpi in three directions (axial, medial/lateral and cranial/caudal) and two moments (pronation/supination and valgus/varus). Results No differences were found between the translations and rotations of the manus relative to the radius and ulna with the ligaments intact and the ligaments transected at any of the carpal angles tested, except at 15° of flexion. Increasing the angle of flexion resulted in a significant increase in cranial and caudal translation of the manus relative to the radius and ulna both in the intact and transected specimens. Clinical relevance Antebrachiocarpal joint position plays a more important role in craniocaudal antebrachiocarpal joint stability than the palmar radiocarpal and ulnocarpal ligaments.

Abstract OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to establish an original transapical septal myectomy procedure that can be performed in the beating heart via a minimally invasive approach for the treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. METHODS We designed an original intracardiac septum resection device to conduct off-pump septal myectomy in swine. A subxiphoid minithoracotomy was performed to access the apex of the heart. This resection device was inserted into the left ventricular outflow tract of the heart via the apex. The basal anteroseptal myocardium beneath the right aortic cusp was identified using a combination of transoesophageal and transthoracic echocardiography and then resected and collected by the device. RESULTS Six consecutive operations were successfully and accurately performed using the custom-made device under echocardiographic guidance. All pigs survived and appeared to be normal until planned euthanasia 1 week after operation. A 300–700 mg portion of the septal myocardium was resected from the normal swine heart. Echocardiography and electrocardiogram revealed no abnormalities after resection. One exception was the fifth pig, in which mild annular regurgitation of the aortic valve occurred after repetitive resection. Postmortem necropsy demonstrated that all resections were correctly located at the basal anteroseptal septum beneath the right aortic cusp. CONCLUSIONS Our study provides the first proof-of-concept evidence for a novel beating heart transapical septal myectomy procedure, which showed promising translational potential for the treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. This procedure would probably reduce operative risks and improve outcomes and reduce the demanding expertise required to perform conventional surgical myectomy.

Experimental study on the evaluation of strength of fixation with metal constructions at the level of C1-C2 vertebrae was performed on the basis of test laboratory for orthopaedic and traumatologic products. Experiments were performed on the cadaver block preparation (4) and plastic models (8) of craniovertebral spine. Authors’ custom made plate, hook system, screw systems by Magerl and Harms were used as fixators. First step was the imitation of the turning of the head to the right (“twisting”), second step - imitation of head tilting forward (“three point pressure”). It was shown that by its strength and stability of craniovertebral segment the elaborated metal plate was not inferior to dorsal fixation systems.
