Objective: To estimate the maximum voluntary molar biting force (MBF) and incisor biting force (IBF) and their relationship to morphological variables in subjects with different vertical skeletal patterns. Materials and Methods: Maximum voluntary MBF, IBF, and morphological variables were recorded in 120 subjects (60 males and 60 females) with skeletal class I pattern in the age range of 14 to 24 years. All subjects were divided into 3 groups: Normodivergent, hypodivergent, and hyperdivergent, according to the maxillomandibular plane angle and Jarabak ratio. Bite force measurements were undertaken using a custom-made portable digital gnathodynamometer on the left and the right sides of the jaw in the molar and incisor regions during maximal clenching. Statistical analysis was performed using independent t-test, chi-square test, and ANOVA test using SPSS version 22.0.0.0 software. Results: MBF and IBF are influenced by gender with higher values obtained for male subjects in all groups in the following order: hypodivergent > normodivergent > hyperdivergent. No significant changes were seen with morphological variables in different groups. Conclusion: Molar and incisor biting forces are highest in hypodivergent subjects and least in hyperdivergent subjects as a reflection of jaw morphology and muscular efficiency. In all groups, males exhibit higher force values than females, underlining a strong gender influence on biting force and facial pattern.

Abstract Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out the correlation between the right and left hamstring length in both genders to determine the prevalence of hamstring tightness among college students. Methods: N=100 subjects were recruited and screened on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria. 80 healthy college students were recruited between the age group of 18 to 25 years, sit and reach test was done among the students. Result: The results stated that there is no statistically significant difference between the right and the left hamstring length in both genders and showed high correlation between the hamstring length of right and left of both groups. Chi square test was done and found that there is statistically significant difference between both the hamstring length of both the genders. The left hamstring of male had severe tightness of 27.50% and the right hamstring of female subjects had severe tightness of 45%. Conclusion: The study results concludes that there is significant correlation between the right and the left hamstring length in both groups but there is no correlation of hamstring length when compared with right hamstring length between groups and left hamstring length between groups. Male subjects had comparatively greater tightness in left hamstring and female subjects had right Hamstring tightness. Linear prevalence of Hamstring tightness is greater in female subjects when compared to male subjects.

The objective of this study was to examine whether factors such as insertion site, patient's facial pattern, microscrew features, type of tooth movement desired, level of experience handling orthodontic microscrews and operator expertise were associated with failure of microscrews. After the approval of an ethics committee, 166 patients of one practice signed an informed consent and received 293 microscrews randomly distributed by 3 operators with different levels of practical experience and expertise in handling microscrews. The microscrews were observed in a period of 365 days or as long as orthodontic forces had to be applied and independent variables were recorded. Analysis by the chi-square test did not produce enough evidence as to allow the assertion that there was an association between the variable "failure" and the variables "maxilla" (p=0.4775), "face" (p=0.1081), "facial pattern" (p=0.7522), "microscrew length" (p=0.9113), "desired movement" (p=0.0584), and "operator" (p=0.5785). The variable "insertion side" was significantly associated with "failure" (p=0.0022). In a 365-day survival analysis, the Log Rank test yielded a p-value of 0.00178 for the curve of variable "insertion side," and showed no significant differences for other variables. With a total success rate of 87.38%, the only variable found to be significant was "insertion side" (p=0.0022), with 3.088 more likelihood of a microscrew failing if placed on the left side than on the right side. The procedure of inserting microscrews involved a rapid learning curve for an inexperienced operator, which justifies their placement by orthodontists.

Abstract Background Bacterial microleakage is an important cause of apical periodontitis and endodontic treatment failure. This study aimed to assess the bacterial microleakage of nano-mineral trioxide aggregate (nano-MTA) as a sealer, Endoseal MTA, and GuttaFlow Bioseal sealers in atmospheric pressure, and simulated underwater diving and aviation conditions. Methods In this in vitro, experimental study, 180 extracted single-rooted teeth were cleaned and shaped, and were then randomly divided into three groups for single-cone obturation using Endoseal MTA, GuttaFlow Bioseal, or nano-MTA as a sealer. Each group was then randomly divided into three subgroups, and subjected to ambient atmospheric pressure, 2 atm pressure (to simulate underwater diving), and 0.5 atm pressure (to simulate aviation) using a custom-made pressure chamber. The teeth then underwent microbial leakage test using Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans), and the percentage of samples showing microleakage was recorded for up to 1 month, and analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results The three sealer groups were significantly different regarding bacterial microleakage (P < 0.05). The nano-MTA group showed significantly higher microleakage after 15 days than the other two groups (P = 0.006). The effect of pressure on bacterial microleakage was not significant in any sealer group (P > 0.05). Conclusion Within the limitations of this in vitro study, it may be concluded that single-cone obturation technique using nano-MTA as a sealer results in lower resistance to bacterial microleakage compared with the use of GuttaFlow Bioseal, and Endoseal MTA. Pressure changes in simulated underwater diving and aviation conditions had no significant effect on bacterial microleakage. Trial Registration Number This is not a human subject research.

Purpose. To identify stroke survivors with symptoms of poststroke depression and the extent of psychiatry needs and care they have received while on physiotherapy rehabilitation.Participants. Fifty stroke survivors (22 females and 28 males) at the outpatient unit of Physiotherapy Department, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, who gave their informed consent, were randomly selected. Their age range and mean age were 26–66 years and54.76±8.79years, respectively.Method. A multiple case study of 50 stroke survivors for symptoms of poststroke depression was done with Beck’s Depression Inventory, mini mental status examination tool, and Modified Motor Assessment Scale. The tests were performed independently by the participants except otherwise stated and scored on a scale of 0–6. Data were analyzed usingZ-test for proportional significance and chi-square test for determining relationship between variables, atp<0.05.Results. Twenty-one (42.0%) stroke survivors had symptoms of PSD, which was significantly dependent on duration of stroke (χ2= 21.680, df = 6, andp=0.001), yet none of the participants had a psychiatry review.Conclusions. Symptoms of PSD may be common in cold compared to new cases of stroke and may need psychiatry care while on physiotherapy rehabilitation.

Abstract Introduction The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has also hit Indonesia. Until September 2020, cases continued to increase with the highest number in Jakarta. The right behavior needs to be followed to prevent COVID-19; this aspect has a strong relationship with knowledge and attitude. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of hospitalized patients' families in Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta, in an effort to prevent COVID-19. Materials and Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on 300 respondents using a self-administered questionnaire to assess their knowledge, attitude, and behavior about COVID-19. The relationship between knowledge, attitude, and behavior was analyzed using the chi-square test with p < 0.05. Results Most of the participants responded to the questionnaire showing a good knowledge, attitude, and behavior related to the efforts to prevent COVID-19. No relationship was present between knowledge, attitude, and behavior in an effort to prevent COVID-19 (p = 0.414 and p = 0.165). Conclusion The hospitalized patients' families exhibited an adequate level of knowledge, attitude, and preventive behaviors toward COVID-19.

Objective: The objective of this study is to find out association between scar thickness, assessed sonographically, and intraoperative findings (IOF). Study Design: Descriptive study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, Muzaffarpur, Bihar from June 2019 to May 2020. Methodology: A total of 70 pregnant patients were included in this study. Transabdominal ultrasound was done for scarred uteri. Sonographic findings were co-related with introperative findings. All the given data were entered on SPSS version 23. Age was expressed as mean ± SD. Parity, gestational age, and interval between cesarean sections were expressed as frequencies with percentages. Statistical analysis was done by using Chi-square test for categorical data for association between sonographic scar thickness and intraoperative findings. The statistical significance was set at p-value <0.05. Results: The age range of the patients was 20- 36 years with a mean of 27.91 ±3.690 years. Gestational age at the time of cesarean section was between 27-40 weeks of gestation with a mean of 37 ±2.126 weeks. The interval from previous cesarean was 10 months at the minimum, and 6 years at the maximum with a mean of 2.29 ±1.0 months. Mean scar thickness was 2.5 mm. Association between scar thickness (<1-3 mm) and intaoperative findings of dehiscence and rupture showed a p-value of <0.001. Conclusion: Sonographic assessment of a uterine scar has a practical application to determine the thickness of previous scar, and assess its integrity.

Objective: Triticeous cartilage is a small ovoid structure belonging to the laryngeal skeleton. When calcified, it becomes visible on panoramic radiographs and be mistaken for a carotid artery calcification (CAC) associated with cerebrovascular accidents. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of calcified triticeous cartilage (CTC) detected by means of digital panoramic radiographs in a sample of Lebanese population. Materials and Methods: Digital panoramic radiographs of 500 Lebanese adult patients (281 females and 219 males) with a mean age of 47.9 years were included in this study and examined for CTC. The IBM® SPSS® for Windows version 20.0 (SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA) was used to carry out statistical analysis of the data collected. Results: Nearly 10.6% (53 out of 500) of the radiographs examined presented CTC. Of all the calcifications, 11 were on the right side, 5 on the left side, and 37 were bilateral. The cases detected belonged to 31 females and 22 males with an average age of 55.6 years (ranging from 24 to 85 years). Chi-square test did not show any statistical connection between gender and CTC, while Spearman's correlation analysis showed low positive correlation with age (r = 0.146). Conclusion: CTC can be detected on panoramic radiographs taken in daily dental practice; its identification is essential to avoid misdiagnosis with other calcifications in the neck region closely related to life-threatening risks such as CAC.

In fingerprint analysis, the determination of hand (right or left) is one of the keys to resolving questions regarding the identity of the donor of the print. It is rare to encounter a complete set of 10-digit fingerprints from the scene of a crime. Although vital and imperative, except for a few studies on whorl patterns, the use of single-digit prints and patterns to ascertain the hand of the donor is scarcely reported in the literature. This research describes a novel approach whereby an analysis of twinned loops was carried out to identify the various parameters that may be helpful in ascertaining the hand of the donor. Bilateral rolled fingerprints from 180 healthy consenting adults belonging to a heterogeneous population of central India were collected. Out of the total of 1800 prints taken, 100 twinned loops (50 on the right hand and 50 on the left hand) were analysed. The following six parameters were considered: the slope of the flow of the apex ridges, the distance between the left delta and the ascending core, the distance between the right delta and the ascending core, mid-core position, the position of the loop and ridge tracing. On applying the chi-square test, the results were found to be statistically significant. Therefore, these parameters were found suitable for the determination of the hand from a single twinned-loop print.

The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of assisted hatching (AH) by partial zona pellucida (ZP) dissection on the survival and the development of bovine IVP embryos after ultra-rapid vitrification and slow freezing. COC obtained from abattoir bovine ovaries were matured and fertilized in vitro, and then cultured in IVD101 (Research Institute for the Functional Peptides, Yamagata, Japan) at 38.5�C in 5% CO2, 5% O2, 90% N2. The treatment of AH was done on compacted morulae by partially dissecting ZP with a micromanipulator. As a control, non-treated embryos with intact ZP were used. For vitrification, the blastocysts at days 7 and 8 were placed into a vitrification solution (Dulbecco's PBS (D-PBS) supplemented with 20% glycerol, 20% ethylene glycol (EG), 0.3 m sucrose (SUC), 0.3 m xylose, and 3% polyethylene glycol) for 30 s after two-step equilibration. Then, they were immediately placed on a custom-made vitrification tool made of nylon fishing line with a small piece of iron attached to one end (V-tool), and immersed into liquid nitrogen (LN2). After cooling, the embryos on the V-tool were placed into frozen 0.25 mL straws filled with a diluting solution (D-PBS supplemented with 0.5 m SUC and 20% new born calf serum) using a magnet, and then they were preserved in LN2. For warming, the straws were immersed into 25�C water. The V-tool was then introduced into the column of diluting solution using a magnet. For freezing, the blastocysts at days 7 and 8 were frozen by the conventional procedure with 10% EG. For thawing, the straws were immersed into 30�C water. In this study, 120 embryos were vitrified and 128 embryos were frozen. Warmed and thawed embryos were washed more than two times, and cultured in TCM199 supplemented with 20% fetal bovine serum and 0.1 mm β-mercaptoethanol for 72 h for assessment of survivability and developmental capacity of post-thaw embryos. Data were analyzed with the chi-square test. The survival rates of vitrified embryos were the same with or without AH (81.1 and 82.0%, P > 0.05). The survival rates of frozen embryos were also the same with or without AH (76.3 and 66.7%, P > 0.05). The survival rates of vitrified embryos without AH was significantly higher than that of frozen embryos without AH (82.0 v. 66.7%, P < 0.05). The hatched rates of frozen embryos without AH were significantly lower than that of frozen embryos with AH and those of vitrified embryos with and without AH (43.5 v. 64.4%, 67.9 and 68.9%, P < 0.05). These results indicated that AH enhanced the development of frozen bovine IVP embryos and that our vitrification method using a V-tool did not require AH for development of embryos.

Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), a rare autosomal dominant disease mostly caused by mutations in three known genes (ENG, ACVRL1, and SMAD4), is characterized by the development of vascular malformations (VMs). Patients with HHT may present with mucocutaneous telangiectasia, as well as organ arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the central nervous system, lungs, and liver. Genotype–phenotype correlations have been well described in adults with HHT. We aimed to investigate genotype–phenotype correlations among pediatric HHT patients. Demographic, clinical, and genetic data were collected and analyzed in 205 children enrolled in the multicenter Brain Vascular Malformation Consortium HHT Project. A chi-square test was used to determine the association between phenotypic presentations and genotype. Among 205 patients (age range: 0–18 years; mean: 11 years), ENG mutation was associated with the presence of pulmonary AVMs (p < 0.001) and brain VM (p < 0.001). The presence of a combined phenotype—defined as both pulmonary AVMs and brain VMs—was also associated with ENG mutation. Gastrointestinal bleeding was rare (4.4%), but was associated with SMAD4 genotype (p < 0.001). We conclude that genotype–phenotype correlations among pediatric HHT patients are similar to those described among adults. Specifically, pediatric patients with ENG mutation have a greater prevalence of pulmonary AVMs, brain VMs, and a combined phenotype.
