Psychological Readiness for Mobile Learning among Maldivian Students at Higher Education Institutions

Mobile technology, associated with mobility has led to the fluidity of knowledge transfer from any part of the globe. The rise in technology-enabled mobile devices tend to impact teaching and learning one or the other way. The fast-growing mobile learning (mLearning) and its instructional strategies are reaching learners anytime anywhere. Thereby, mLearning and its learning activities engage students passively, behaviorally, intellectually and emotionally in learning (Yao & Wang, 2018). Especially, in a country like Maldives where the people live in small islands separated by sea, mLearning could be an advantageous mode that can be adopted in the higher education of Maldives. The dispersed institutional students were were reached using mobile technology creating a psychological acceptance towards mLearning. Therefore, the study was developed to explore psychological readiness of institutional distance learning students to adopt mobile learning in Maldives. Objective - Mobile learning had widely impacted higher education, providing technology enabled educational opportunities to the mobile-first learners of the millennium, anytime, anywhere. The adoption of mobile technology rapidly increased among higher education institutions of Maldives, changing the psychological perception of distance learners who were located in different atolls of the country. Methodology/Technique - This paper was developed to explore psychological readiness of institutional distance learning students to adopt mobile learning in Maldives. Using quantitative approach, the research was conducted among the distance learners from three key higher education institutions of Maldives. Contributing to the e- questionnaire, three hundred and forty-three (n=340) students expressed their psychological readiness to adopt mobile learning in Maldives. Data collected using mobile technology was analysed using the analysis summary retrieved from Google forms and SPSS. Finding - The analysis revealed that majority of the students of Maldives higher education institutions were acquainted and psychologically ready to adopt mobile learning as a convenient mode of delivery. Novelty - Thereby, it can be said that students were willing to welcome mobile learning enhanced by mobile technology and were psychologically ready to adopt the emerging shift in the paradigm. Mobile learning is presently taking part in associate degree more and more important role within the instructional method, additionally as within the development of teaching and learning ways for higher education. The power to find out ‘on the go– anytime, anywhere, is changing into more and more fashionable. The advantages offered by mobile learning are important. On the opposite hand, the implementation of mobile learning in educational activity relies on users’ acceptance of technology. Acceptance and intention to use mobile learning may be a topic of growing interest within the field of education. The model of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) is planned and developed by researchers via a mixture of eight major theories in activity prediction. UTAUT is among the foremost fashionable and up to date model in information technology acceptance. This is review paper aiming to review UTAUT’s previous studies of intention to use mobile learning. In conclusion, this research provides insight regarding the necessary factors for planning and designing an intention to use mobile learning model in higher education institutions.

Web-based teaching has become one of the main stream teaching and learning methods in most of the higher education institutions. To support teaching and learning activities over the Internet, Web-based teaching has been implemented with various technologies. Among the various solutions, using the open source technology to construct a platform for supporting online teaching and learning has attracted a great deal of attention. To better understand the open source technology and how it can be used to support online teaching and learning, we will first take an overview of the open source technology in this chapter. We will investigate the roles played by the open source technology. We will also examine the strengths and weaknesses of the open source technology in general. At the end of this chapter, a framework of the book will be presented to give an overall picture of the discussion in the book.

Higher Education as one of the educational institutions has a role in producing qualified graduates. Lecturers are an important component in higher education, regardless of the quality improvement policy designed, the lecturers are the people who are in charge and responsible in the learning process. The quality of the learning process depends on the competence and commitment of the lecturers themselves which reflect their professionalism and professionalism requires the perfect result, therefore passion for quality improvement is always needed to build it. It requires seriousness and thoroughness of work that can only be obtained through experience and habits. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the competence of lecturers to improve teaching and learning activities to compete in the world of work, especially in the ASEAN economic era. The population of this study is all the students of the Faculty of Economics of University of Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. Sampling technique is used in this research as it is purposive sampling. The collecting data procedure is using questionnaires. Analytical techniques using factor analysis is used in this study to prove the competence of lecturers affect the teaching and learning process. The results showed that personality factor ranked the first in the factors influencing on the learning process, followed by social, professionalism and pedagogic factors.

The accuracy and reliability is the quality of the information. The more accurate and reliable, the more information it’s good quality. Similarly, a survey, the better the survey, the more accurate the information provided. Implementation of student satisfaction measurement to the process of teaching and learning activities on the quality of the implementation of important lectures in order to get feedback on the assessed variables and for future repair. Likewise in Higher Education Prog has undertaken the process of measuring student satisfaction through a distributed questioner finally disemester each class lecture. However, the deployment process questioner is identified there are 7 (seven) problems. However, the problem can be resolved by the 3 (three) ways of solving problems one of which is a system of iLearning Survey (Isur), that is by providing an online survey to students that can be accessed anywhere and anytime. In the implementation shown a prototype of Isur itself. It can be concluded that the contribution Isur system can maximize the decision taken by the Higher Education Prog. By using this Isur system with questions and evaluation forms are submitted and given to the students and the other colleges. To assess the extent to which the campus has grown and how faculty performance in teaching students class, and can be used as a media Isur valid information for an assessment of activities throughout college.

History has proven the development of Jawi calligraphy is in line with the development of Islam in the archipelago. It is the root of the nation’s identity that must be defended and maintained. As with other subjects, the challenge to learning Jawi calligraphy at this time is that the whole world including Malaysia is affected by the COVID 19 pandemic. Therefore, all learning activities are now geared towards teaching and learning from home (PdPR) as methods to ensure the continuity of education. Therefore, it is very important that Jawi calligraphy is given a new breath in teaching and learning. This research article will discuss the mobile learning approach (M-Learning) for Jawi calligraphy. Important elements discussed include the application development process according to the needs of teaching and learning activities. The features of the application that contribute to the improvement of students’ learning experience as well as the results of tests performed on students are also stated. The success of this M-Learning application for learning Jawi calligraphy will certainly be able to be further expanded to the learning of other subjects in various fields.

<p class="apa">Much attention is now given on producing quality graduates. Therefore, outcome-based education (OBE) in teaching and learning is now being implemented in Malaysia at all levels of education especially at higher education institutions. For implementing OBE, the design of curriculum and courses should be based on specified outcomes. Thus, the challenge for the assessment is that it should be capable of measuring whether intended outcomes have been achieved or not. Likely, by assisting lecturer in preparing examination paper that aligns with the specified outcomes is something that can help to ensure the implementation of OBE. Hence, this paper describes the development of a tool for generating question examination paper based on learning outcomes, called Learning Outcome-based Question Examination paper Tool (LoQET). LoQET is proposed for assisting lecturer in Universiti Putra Malaysia for preparing examination paper based on programme outcomes and learning outcomes set in the teaching plan and assessment entries.</p>
