After China’s financial industry having entered into rapid development with China’s accession to the WTO, joint-stock commercial banks have also risen in various places, and the number of branches established by foreign banks in China has gradually increased, showing that they were once monopolized as China’s financial industry continues to reform and develop. The status of the four state-owned joint-stock commercial banks has been shaken. This paper focuses on the definition and characteristics of the new generation of employees, using Bank X as an example, the current development of Bank X and the current development of the new generation of Bank X employees, and the negative impact of the new generation of Bank X employees after their departure. A comprehensive analysis of the reasons for their resignation was conducted, and on this basis, the countermeasures were put forward to reduce the turnover rate of the new generation of employees in state-owned commercial banks, hoping to provide a proper resignation management plan, so that Bank X can proceed from its own reality and strengthen the state-owned company. The commercial bank management and construction adopt corresponding strategies to reduce the turnover rate of the new generation of employees and stabilize the countermeasures of talent team building.

After the market-oriented reform of China’s financial industry, there have been some problems in financial risk assessment. In recent years, commercial bank finance has made rapid development, but on the whole, the financial risk assessment of commercial banks is still the weakest link in the Chinese financial system. This experiment selects data from state-owned commercial banks and foreign-funded commercial banks. Through the analysis and deconstruction of the macroenvironment, participants, and business models, this paper systematically combines the factors influencing the financial risk of commercial banks, which can identify the main sources of financial risk in this complex way of financing and clarify the effects of the transfer of financial risk between different participants. Based on this, the paper studies the differences between the assets and liabilities between banks on the risk-taking of banks and the reform of the organizational evolution of fuzzy system. According to the application scenarios and actual needs of commercial banks’ financial risks, the entropy weight analysis method is used to reflect the weight of indicators by the difference degree of observed index values. The information quantity of indicators is measured to ensure that the established indicators can reflect most of the initial information. The experimental results show that, compared with state-owned banks, the proportion of foreign banks’ assets in 2018 is very small. The highest value of public debt assets is 9.2 billion yuan, followed by financial institutions with 2.58 billion yuan, and deposit institutions with 280 million yuan. The central bank has no debt amount.

Due to the three functions of cost reduction, disintermediation, and information asymmetry, internet finance continues to impact the traditional banking business in the financial industry, posing a new competitive risk for commercial banks. In developing countries such as China, given the imperfect development of the financial market, the government needs to introduce a series of policies, but new policies will bring the risk of market uncertainty. Due to the double uncertainty of the market and the system in developing countries, commercial banks are caught between competitive and new policy risks. Therefore, exploring the impact of these two risks on the performance of commercial banks is very important to allow commercial banks to discern, resist, and respond to risks. This research uses the data of A-share listed banks for the past 10 years. Empirical research shows that internet finance and interest rate liberalization have a negative impact on bank performance. The liberalization of interest rates further increases the negative impact of internet finance on bank performance.

Aim:The objective of this paper is to make comparative analysis on operational efficiency between Chinese and Indian commercial banks (CBs). Design / Research methods: Following the previous scholars’ study, two models with different sets of input and output variables have been used to show how efficiency scores vary with change in inputs and outputs. The efficiency scores are measured by using data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach. Conclusions / findings: The mean technical efficiency score of Chinese CBs is always relatively higher than the corresponding score of Indian CBs in 2012-2013, respectively. In terms of technical efficiency and pure technical efficiency, the performance of foreign banks in China is always relatively lower than that of foreign banks in India. Originality / value of the article: While many similar studies have evaluated the performance of banking industries in different countries, very few studies have evaluated the performance of banking sectors between Chinese and Indian economies. The paper would be of interest for OR scholars and practitioners in financial industry. Implications of the research (if applicable): The next step of this study could collect more samples and use Malmquist index method to conduct further study on efficiency, efficiency changing and productivity, in order to conduct further competitive power analysis on both of banking industries of China and India.

The development of the sharia financial industry in Indonesia can be seen from the increase in the number of Sharia Commercial Banks. The rapid development of the sharia financial industry is also followed by the rapid development of sharia financial instruments such as sukuk. Indonesia, through the ministry of finance, has issued 13 Retail State Sukuk types SR001 to SR013, starting in 2012, which has continued to increase in demand from year to year even though it had decreased in SR010 and SR012. Factors influencing the increase in the purchase of State Retail Sukuk are the minimum purchase, interest rates, and ORI coupons obtained by testing the data using statistical tests.

In recent years, Chinese economic development has slowed down and competition in the financial industry has become increasingly fierce. The purpose of this paper is to study the efficiency characteristics of China’s banking industry in the new environment and provide suggestions for banks to improve efficiency. This paper uses a data envelopment analysis (DEA) SBM-undesirable model and window analysis to measure the technical efficiency of 13 nationwide commercial banks in China during the period from 2008 to 2017. Furthermore, the convergence characteristics of bank technical efficiency are examined. The empirical results show that state-owned banks were more efficient than joint stock banks before 2012. After 2012, state-owned banks were less efficient than joint stock banks. Finally, this paper explores the influential factors of technical efficiency. Noninterest income ratio, net interest margin, growth rate of total investment in fixed assets, and consumer price index have a significant positive impact on bank efficiency. The cost-to-income ratio has a significant negative impact on bank efficiency. Further research using the threshold model shows that noninterest income ratio has a threshold effect on bank efficiency.

The banking sector is going through a phase of consolidation and restructuring in India. 'Survival of the Fittest' has become a reality in the case of public sector commercial banks, with the opening up of new branches in all districts by new generation banks such as ICICI and HDFC and the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) practices implemented by private and foreign banks.

Non-performing loans of commercial banks have long hampered the development of the banking sector, and directly reflect the credit risk and asset quality. With the continuous development of the financial industry, the introduction of financial inclusion has greatly eased the shortage of funds, and narrowed the gap between poor and rich. However, whether the promotion of financial inclusion in the financial industry could affect the non-performing loans of commercial banks has not been verified. Therefore, this paper discusses the possible associations between financial inclusion and non-performing loans of commercial banks on the regional level, constructs a panel data model by selecting the data of 31 provinces (including 4 municipalities) in China from 2005 to 2016, and uses the fixed effect model for empirical test. The empirical results (from an overall national sample) reveal a negative impact of the financial inclusion on non-performing loans. Moreover, the development of the banking sector and the regional consumption could enhance the impact of financial inclusion, while government intervention and unemployment could reduce the impact of financial inclusion. From the analysis of the regional sample, when the development of financial inclusion reaches a high level, the lagged financial inclusion promote the non-performing loans of commercial banks; however, when the financial inclusion is underdeveloped, the development of commercial banks act as a disincentive to non-performing loans. Therefore, the local governments should pay more attention to the influences of financial inclusion on the financial industry, in order to maintain the stability of banking asset quality. In addition, the negative impact of financial inclusion on non-performing loans of commercial banks is significant in China central region, while its impacts in China eastern and western regions are not significant. This indicates that the development of the financial industry and economy can hamper the effects of financial inclusion. It is necessary to adjust the financial resource allocation according to the characteristics of different regions in China, so that the financial inclusion can effectively promote the regional financial industry upgrade, improve regional capital flow efficiency, and fundamentally reduce the non-performing loans of commercial banks. According to the sample analysis by time, there is a significant negative impact relationship between inclusive finance and commercial banks’ non-performing loans after the financial crisis, while the impacts before and during the financial crisis are not significant. This demonstrates that the impact of the global financial crisis on China’s regional economy has further enhanced the inefficiency of the inclusive financial system on credit risk, which in turn, helps commercial banks better maintain asset quality stability.

Abstract After being in force for several years, sanctions against Iran were partly lifted on 16 January 2016, reopening business options for the financial industry. This paper investigates whether a breach of internationally imposed economic sanctions had a negative impact on the value of a bank that decided to implicitly or explicitly violate those sanctions. Using event study methodology, our analysis provides evidence that a breach of Iran-related sanctions by foreign banks caused considerable wealth reductions for their shareholders who finally bear the corresponding fining-costs. The results also show that bank shareholders do not perceive the lifting of sanctions as being good news, implying that they lost faith in their bank’s ability to establish a sufficient compliance and due diligence system for Iran-related transactions. Finally, the study shows that the announced fining for a breach of sanctions does not induce spillover effects to non-fined banks. Thus, the study provides important insights on reasons of the current shortage of foreign lending toward Iran.

The authors conduct a comparative analysis of the genealogical structure of the breeding stock of the Yaroslavl breed in the Vologda region on the basis of the data for 2005 and 2018. It is established that in 2005 the structure of the breed included 8 domestic genealogical lines. As a result of the crossing with the Holstein breed, significant changes occurred. The share of animals of the Yaroslavl breed lines decreased from 100% in 2005 to 35.3% in 2018. The genealogical structure of the modern population got 3 added lines of the Holstein selection which as of 1.01.2019 include most of the breeding stock: Reflection Sovering line 198998 - 42.9%, Vis Back Ideal line 1013415 - 13%, and Montwick Chieftain line 95679 - 8.8%. The crossing with the Holstein breed had a positive effect on the increase in the milk productivity of the Yaroslavl breed animals. The average milk yield per 1 cow increased by 1670 kg of milk and the share of cows with the productivity of more than 6000 kg of milk increased by 35%. The results of the calculations of the correlation between the Holstein thoroughbredness and the fat and protein content in the milk showed that the crossing did not impair the quality indicators of the milk the Yaroslavl breed cows (thoroughbredness degree with the fat content r=-0.01; with the protein content r=0.09 P<0.01), but at the same time had a negative impact on the duration of the economic use of the animals in the herd (r=-0.27; P<0.001). For further improvement of the breed, there is a need to determine the optimal degree of crossing with the Holstein breed. Also, in order to preserve the gene pool, there is a need to obtain a new generation of purebred bulls of the Yaroslavl breed with a higher productivity potential.

The brand equity of banks plays a crucial role in determining customer behavior of using their services. The study aims to examine the impact of brand equity on conversion behavior in the use of personal banking services at commercial banks in Vietnam. The paper uses quantitative research methods, through linear SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) analysis, with survey data including 554 samples of individual customers of commercial banks. The study’s findings show that the bank’s brand equity has a negative impact on the behavior of individual customers. In the relationship between these two factors, competitive advertising effectiveness and loyalty of customers act as intermediary factors. On that basis, the study makes a number of recommendations to preclude customers leaving and minimize business losses caused by the conversion of customers’ banks. The findings of this study have shown the importance and impact of brand equity on conversion behavior in the use of personal customer services. These are meaningful contributions both theoretically and practically to help banks get a deeper insight into brand equity and the need to pay attention to building and developing sustainable brand equity for the bank, as well as an important basis for further research.
