This research was conducted for four months of April-July 2020. The purpose of this study was to determine species density, species relative density, species frequency, species relative frequency, species cover, species relative cover, index of the importance of mangrove species in the area around PT. Conch Lolak District, Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province. This research was conducted for four months of April-July 2020. The method used was a quadratic plot of 6 stations. Data collection at each station was made with a plot size of 10 × 10 m2 to measure the diameter of a tree at breast height (DBH), which has a minimum trunk circumference of 16 cm. The results showed that there were five types of mangroves, namely R. apiculata, R. mucronata, B. gymnorhiza, S. alba, and X. granatum. The highest relative density of species at station 2, namely R. mucronate 62.96%, while the lowest value at station 3, namely R. mucronata 8.77%, the highest relative frequency value at station 4, namely R. mucronata 33.33%, whereas the lowest value was at station 5, namely B. gymnorhiza 25.00%, the highest relative closure value was at station 5, namely R. mucronata 30.91%, while the lowest was at station 2, namely R. apiculata 12.88%, and the important value index the highest was at station 3, namely R. apiculata 138.09% and the lowest value was at station 5, namely X. granatum 35.05%.Kata Kunci: Mangrove, Structure in areas around PT. Conch. Conch, Rhizopora Abstrak Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 4 bulan April-Juli 2020. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kerapatan jenis, kerapatan relatif jenis, frekuensi jenis, frekuensi relatif jenis, penutupan jenis, penutupan relatif jenis, indeks nilai penting jenis mangrove yang ada di kawasan sekitar PT. Conch Kecamatan Lolak, Kabupaten Bolaang Mongondow, Provinsi Sulawawesi Utara. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 4 bulan April-Juli 2020. Metode yang dipakai adalah plot kuadrat sebanyak 6 stasiun. Pengambilan data pada setiap stasiun dibuat plot dengan ukuran 10 × 10 m2 untuk mengukur diameter pohon setinggi dada (DBH) yang memiliki lingkar batang minimal 16 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 5 jenis mangrove yaitu R. apiculata, R. mucronata, B. gymnorhiza, S. alba dan X. granatum. Kerapatan relatif jenis tertinggi pada stasiun 2, yaitu R. mucronata 62,96%, sedangkan nilai terendah pada stasiun 3, yaitu R. mucronata 8,77%, nilai Frekuensi relatif jenis tertingi pada stasiun 4, yaitu R. mucronata 33.33%, sedangkan nilai terendah pada stasiun 5, yaitu B. gymnorhiza 25.00%, nilai Penutupan relatif jenis tertinggi pada stasiun 5, yaitu R. mucronata 30,91%, sedangkan terendah pada stasiun 2, yaitu R. apiculata 12,88%, dan Indeks nilai penting tertinggi pada stasiun 3, yaitu R. apiculata 138,09% dan nilai terendah pada stasiun 5, yaitu X. granatum 35,05%.Kata Kunci: Mangrove, kawasan sekitar PT. This study evaluated the effect of selective cutting on the dominance and the relative density of mangrove species in the Complex of the Guaxindiba River/Engenheiro Antonio Resende Channel, in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. Ten plots were demarcated along the estuary and within each plot measurements were taken of the diameter at breast height (DBH) for individuals > 2.5 cm. Measurements of selective cutting and regrowth were made for the different species. The cutting of vegetation was registered in 9 of the 10 plots analyzed and varied from 2 to 43%. 4. There was no relation between the percent of trunks cut and the proximity of residential areas. Selective cutting was found for Avicennia germinans and Laguncularia racemosa, but only L. racemosa presented regrowth. The results suggest that L. racemosa is more highly affected by selective cutting when compared to the other species, though this impact did not modify the species dominance and the relative density in the mangrove analyzed due to the high regrowth of L. racemosa. Abstract. Baderan DWK, Hamidun MS, Utina R, Rahim S, Dali R. 2019. The abundance and diversity of Mollusks in mangrove ecosystem at coastal area of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 20: 987-993. The study reported in this paper sought to analyze the abundance and diversity of Mollusks species in the coastal mangrove areas of Panango in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data collected in the study lent support to policy making in reducing the loss of marine biotic species in the coastal mangrove areas. Data collection used stratified-random sampling method (plot size was 10 m x 10 m) with three plots at each research station was used. Data analyzed by Odum formula for abundance, Shannon Wiener index for diversity and evenness index for evenness. The samples were collected from 2 research station covering 15 sampling sites. This research found 14 families of mollusks comprised of 11 gastropod families (21 species) and bivalve families (3 types). The highest of the relative density was found in Terebralia sp (24,24%), and the lowest relative density was obtained (1,52%) in the following species: Spondylus violaceus, Conus sp., Semiricinula turbinoides, and Faunus ater. The diversity index of mollusks species (Gastropoda and Bivalvia) at the observation station was classified as a high category, indicating by H’ >3,32 (Station I H’= 2,19 and Station II H’= 2,12). The evenness value in range 0,4<e<0,6. This indicates that the Mollusks species found in the research site had a medium amount. This study suggests a need to regulate mangrove areas of Panango for sustainable mangrove ecosystems management.

The present investigation has been carried out to enumerate the ethnomedicinal plant growing in the paddy field of Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. Ten selected sites in the Villupuram district was taken for investigation. Random quadrate method was adapted for studying the phytosociological attributes of the weeds. A total of 145 plant species belonging to 22 families were identified, out of which 39 plant species are medicinally important to cure different diseases in human beings directly. Amaranthaceae and Euphorbiaceae was the dominant family seen during observation. Frequency, Relative frequency, Density, Relative density, Abundance, Relative abundance and Important Value Index (IVI) of the species were calculated.

 This study aims to determine the species composition, frequency, density, dominance, important value index (INP) and the distribution of tree species. The method used in this research is the Line Transect Plot Method. The total area of the sample plots is 1 ha (10.000 m2) with a total of 25 sample plots, which are placed purposively at the study site. Observational data were analyzed according to the parameters and described qualitatively and quantitatively and presented in the form of tabulations and pictures. The composition of vegetation types in the Sorong Nature Tourism Park forest contains 50 plant species, namely 30 known families and 3 plant species not yet traded, scientific and family names. The number of tree levels is 36 species with the largest density value (K) for resak (Vatica papuana) and guava (Syzygium, sp ) which is 29.81/ha with a Relative Density (KR) of 15.897% with the smallest density value (K). 0.962/ha, and the value of relative density (KR) was 0.5128%, respectively. The largest frequency (F) value is found in guava with a value of 0.731, relative frequency (FR) of 13.19%, and the lowest value of frequency (F) is 0.038 %, the smallest relative frequency (FR) is 0.694%. With the largest dominance value (C) in resak plants of 2,561 and relative dominance of 15.95%, while the lowest dominance was 0.033 and relative dominance was 0.208%. Where the highest Importance Value Index (INP) is on the guava tree at 43.117 and the lowest Important Value Index (INP) is in the Trichadenia tree, sp 1.3964. The distribution pattern at the tree level is based on the morista index, which is spread in groups or in clusters.Keywords: Composition, Vegetation, Nature Park

Djamaluddin R. 2018. The mangrove flora and their physical habitat characteristics in Bunaken National Park, NorthSulawesi, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 19: 1303-1312. The mangrove forests of Bunaken National Park are among the most distinctive andunusual in Southeast Asia because of the species that the forests contain. This study investigated the identity and diversity of mangroveplants as well as physiographic factors and major physical processes of every type of sub-habitats. Seven surveys were conducted tocollect and identify mangrove species of the park. Sub-habitats where specimen was found, aspects related to tidal inundation, nature ofsoil, freshwater influence and topography were observed as well as major physical processes influencing the condition of each subhabitat.The results suggested that the park was floristically rich with at least 27 plant species and they were distributed over tenrecognized sub-habitat types in different composition and diversity. Ceriops zippeliana Blume, Lumnitzera racemosa Willd, Lumnitzeralittorea (Jack) Voigt., Sonneratia ovata Backer, and Camptostemon philippinense (Vidal) Becc. were found in Bunaken National Parkand their presence confirmed the broader distribution limit of these species within Indo-Malesia region. A special notice was for C.philippinense as the distribution limit of this is rarely reported.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the regeneration potential of mangroves found on the coast of Payum, Merauke Regency, Papua Province. This research was conducted in August-October 2018. The data collection technique was purposive sampling using Transect Line Plots. The sampling location was chosen based on the representation of the presence of mangroves in three locations, namely zones A, B and C. The results of this study explained that there were three tree-level mangrove species, namely Avicennia alba, Rhizophora apiculata and Sonneratia alba. Type A. alba dominates in zone A with an important value index (INP) of 205.76%, zone B does not have a certain type that dominates, while Rhizophora apiculata dominates in zone C with INP 185.35%. The potential of the three mangrove species in zones A, B and C is good. Aegialitis annulata species are only found in sapling and seedling levels. In zones A and B are classified as new while in zone C is classified as bad. This study concluded that Avicennia alba, Rhizophora apiculata and Sonneratia alba had the potential to regenerate in all three locations (Zones A, B and C) compared to Aegialitis annulata.

This research study contributes to the knowledge of the diversity and similarity of vegetation more than 5 cm diameter at breast height (DBH); the study was carried out in the montane forest located in Tungurahua, Pillaro, Baquerizo Moreno, Indiviso (01°18’S, 78°30’W), at an altitude of 30,400 m. A transect of 1000 m² was made, divided into 5 plots of 50×4 m. The species were identified by the ESPOCH Herbarium, and the values calculated were relative density (DR) and relative dominance (DMR) to obtain the Importance Index (IV). 18 families, 29 genera, and 33 species were found, corresponding to 249 individuals, in which the largest number of individuals were accounted for by Escallonia myrtilloides (8.03%), Macleania rupestris (7.63%), Vaccinium floribundum (6.02%), Gynoxis buxifolia and Miconia bracteolata with 5.62%, Bacharis teindalensis and Blechnum loxensis with 4.82%, and Maytenus vertillata, Hypericum laricifolium, Tibouchina lepidota, Brachyotum ledifolium, Sympoccos with 4.02%; the remaining species had lower values. The reason for finding both species of shrub paramo and high montane forest is not so clear, since physiognomically the area under study was a high montane forest. Furthermore, no studies have been conducted in other transition zones, but for this reason, a high number of species of two types of vegetation is found. Resumen El presente trabajo contribuye al conocimiento de la diversidad y similitud de la vegetación mayor de 5 cm de diámetro a la altura del pecho (DAP); el estudio se realizó en el bosque montano localizados en provincia de Tungurahua, cantón Pillaro, parroquia Baquerizo Moreno, sector Indiviso, en las ccordenadas 01°18’S; 78°30’W, altitud 30.400 m.s.n.m. Se realizó un transecto de 1000 m², divididos en 5 subtransectos de 50×4 m. Las especies se identificaron el Herbario ESPOCH, los datos calculados fueron Densidad relativa (DR), dominancia relativa (DMR) para obtener Indice de Importancia (IV). se encontraron 18 familias, 29 géneros, 33 especies que corresponden a 249 individuos, en las cuales el mayor número de individuos cuenta Escallonia myrtilloides (8,03%), Macleania rupestris (7,63%), Vaccinium floribundum (6,02%), Gynoxis buxifolia y Miconia bracteolata con 5,62%, Bacharis teindalensis y Blechnum loxensis con 4,82%, Maytenus vertillata, Hypericum laricifolium, Tibouchina lepidota, Brachyotum ledifolium, Sympoccos quítense con 4,02%; el resto con valores inferiores. La explicación de tanto especies de páramo arbustivo y bosque montano alto no están tan claros, ya que fisionomicamente fue un bosque montano alto esta zona en estudio. Además no se han encontrado estudios en otras zonas de transición, pero por ello se encuentra un número alto de especies de dos tipos de vegetación. The circumferential variation in the wood relative density of lodgepole pine (Pinuscontorta var. latifolia Engelm.) was examined in eight discs taken at breast height. The purpose was to determine if the present method of analyzing two opposite radial strips from pith to bark was sufficient for estimating the mean density of the disc. Results showed that two samples taken opposite each other would give comparable or better approximation of the mean density of the disc than would three or four samples taken at random.

Sawlogs are in short supply in northern Ontario, and thinning has been suggested as one way to improve the situation. The only rotation-age jack pine (Pinusbanksiana Lamb.) thinning trial in the region was examined to assess how commercial thinning influenced wood quality. This report covers an unreplicated trial of a 65-year chronology of pith to bark relative densities and growth rates based on X-ray densitometry of breast-height increment cores taken from trees on two thinned plots (average spacing 2.6 and 3.4 m) and an unthinned control (average spacing 1.7 m). The trees on the treatment plots responded to thinning by producing wood with significantly lower relative density than those on the control plot. This trend continued much longer than reported for other pines and could negatively affect pulp yield or mechanical properties of lumber. Enhanced earlywood growth caused a drop in the proportion of latewood that resulted in the decline in density. Thinning may have improved moisture availability during the early and middle season and encouraged earlywood growth. Density and growth rate differences became apparent soon after treatment. Early, rapid, and inexpensive estimates of the product potential of younger thinning trials are possible using the techniques demonstrated here.

Diversity is a variety of species that are similarly formed and the abundance of a species. The purpose of this study is to determine the diversity and characteristics of herbaceous plants in Sumber Agung Resort Bandar Lampung Wan Abdul Rachman (WAR) forest park. The method used is a purposive sampling method at several points, done by direct observation using the Belt Transect method with plot size 1x1 m² with a distance between plot 100 m² then the picture of herbaceous plants taken as documentation material. The species is then taken for identification regarding some literature. Data analysis by measuring the parameters of vegetation using the analysis of density and frequency variables which then determine the Importance Value Index (INP). Observation of herbaceous plants was done by identifying and making herbarium. The results of the study are, there are 45 species of herbaceous plants that have been identified, consisting of 22 families. The highest density of herbaceous species that are found belongs to Asteraceae, Solanaceae, Araceae, Poaceae, Zingiberaceae, and Euphorbiaceae. Characteristics of herbaceous growth are influenced by air temperature, soil moisture, and soil pH. The highest Important Value Index (INP) in herbaceous plants belongs to Family Poaceae; Lophatherium gracile with an important value index (INP) 31.43%.
