Global Citizenship (GC) has recently claimed its position as desired graduates’ attribute in many Higher Education (HE) institutions in different non-Western contexts. However, ambiguity and complexity still linger over what GC means contextually and how this understanding may shape educational outcomes. Taking cognizance of this, a study was carried out to investigate the understanding of GC among Vietnamese HE teachers as major agents in Global Citizenship Education (GCE), in order to discuss their implications for graduate attributes. This study adopted purposeful sampling strategy to conduct in-depth interviews among 14 teachers from 4 different faculties of a private university in Southern Vietnam. Emergent themes were then compared with GC conceptions theorized in the literature. Data analysis revealed a three-fold dimensions in teachers’ perception: (1) GC understanding was ambiguous and divergent and uniquely nuanced by personal and contextual factors, (2) triple helix of GC conceptions were intricately entwined in GCE rationales, and (3) GC notion was framed with juxtapositions of conceptions. The findings highlighted an implementation gap in GCE which might subvert the intended educational aim, especially in the context of unavailable official documents to guide GCE. In this way, the paper contributes to the ongoing discussion regarding GCE implementation, and indicates a need to have clearer instructional GCE-related policies and more comprehensive teacher trainings.

By using literature data analysis, taking the views of educational scholars during the Republic of China as an entry point, selecting representative educational scholars from that period, studying the educational goals of those educational scholars, as well as summarizing and refining their educational concepts, it has been found that the focus was on the cultivation of a sound personality, the development of spiritual values, the cultivation of social responsibility, as well as the cultivation of national consciousness. These four aspects are consistent with the comprehensive development demands by the educational purposes of modern countries in terms of moral, intellectual, physical, artistic, and labor; they provide new supplements and impetus for the current educational purposes to cultivate effective people and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Introduction. Silver nanoparticles have unique physicochemical properties and can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of various kinds of infections, oncological diseases, as well as drug delivery. The review presents an analysis of scientific literature on the use of silver nanoparticles for biomedical purposes.Text. The review discusses the perspectives of the silver nanoparticles use in the treatment of oncological diseases as a carrier of drugs, as well as the direct manifestation of their cytotoxic effect on cancer cells. Also, there is considered the use of silver nanoparticles for imparting or enhancing the antibacterial effects of dressings and dental materials. The mechanism of action of silver nanoparticles against viruses is considered. This research presents the use of composite materials containing silver nanoparticles for biomedical purposes.Conclusion. On the basis of the literature data analysis, carried out by the authors, there are shown possibilities of the nanotechnology achievements for the application in medicine.

BACKGROUND: Every year 1.5 million women in the world are diagnosed with breast cancer (BC). In 2018, more than 260,000 new cases of cancer and more than 40,000 deaths due to this disease were detected. At the same time, in Kazakhstan, an intensive indicator of the incidences of BC in 2018 amounted to 25.3% per population of 100 thousand people (2017–24.5%) with a growth rate of 3.1%, which in absolute numbers are 4,648 new cases per year. In terms of mortality, BC ranks third after lung and stomach cancer (6.8%). AIM: This necessitates a detailed study of the molecular mechanisms that underlie the development and progression of BC. One of the mechanisms of carcinogenesis is oxidative stress (OS). An increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) levels was detected in the early stages of cancer. It was suggested that MDA, due to its high cytotoxicity, acts as a promoter of the tumor and cocarcinogen agent. METHODS: Therefore, violation of the parameters of OS in BC is in no doubt. However, according to the literature data analysis, these results are ambiguous and contradictory. There are no studies on a comprehensive assessment of the oxidative destruction of lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids in BC. CONCLUSION: The nature and direction of changes in various components of OS in patients with BC have not been adequately studied, which is necessary for a correct assessment of the involvement of OS in the mechanism of the pathological process and determination of a sensitive marker of the risk of BC or its progression.

Abstract. Hernowo JB, Haquesta S. 2021. Evaluation on Bali Mynah (Leucopsar rothschildi Stresemann, 1912) population, result of release process 1998-2015 in Bali Barat National Park, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 2699-2710. The release of Bali Mynah (Leucopsar rothschildi Stresemann, 1912) is an attempt to return the bird population to its natural habitat to increase the number of Bali Mynah populations in nature. Bali Mynah population release results that can grow, but slow rate, so that indicates to review technical and management evaluation of Bali Mynah release. The study aims to evaluate the development of the population, the factors that affect population numbers and habitat for the results of releasing Bali Mynah, as well as the security factor. The research was conducted and focused on the Breeding Centre of Bali Mynah (BCBM) in Tegal Bunder, Teluk Brumbun, Teluk Kotal, Tanjung Gelap, and Pos Lampu Merah of Bali Barat National Park (BBNP), Indonesia from May to June 2015. The method of data collection is direct observation, measurement (population with concentration method), interview in relation to management of the bird, and literature. Data analysis was done by calculating the score of the assessment and the animal welfare. The result shows that the Bali Mynah population in Breeding Centre of Bali Mynah in Tegal Bunder has been categorized as good (analyzed from the animal welfare and assessment of the Bali Mynah with a score of 76.53 and 4.32 respectively). Bali Mynah population in the release area is well developed. The BM population has shown survival supported by an abundance of food and water availability, but the movement is still limited (500 m-1000 m) from the release areas.
