The skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) resource in Bone bay has long been exploited, but information about the sustainable potential of this fish resource in Bone bay waters is still very limited. The aim of this research is to estimate potential of fish resources that include catch per unit effort (CPUE ), the maximum sustainable yield (MSY), optimum effort, exploitation rate and total allowable catch (TAC) of skipjack tuna in the waters of Bone bay. This study uses time series data, namely annual data from the fisheries statistics report at Marine and Fisheries Service, South Sulawesi Province from 2006-2015. The method used to estimate the potential of fish resources in this study is the surplus production method with the Schaefer model. The results showed that the average production and standard efforts in the 10-year period were 14689.7 tons and 914 standard units respectively. The estimation results obtained MSY and optimum effort per year are 22561.4 tons and 1730 standard units, and allowed catches (TAC) of 18049.2 tons per year. The level of exploitation of skipjack tuna resources in the waters of Bone Bay does not over exploited every year except in 2017.Keywords: potential of fish resources, skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), MSY, TAC, Bone bay

This study aims to estimate the potential of fish resources which include catch per unit effort (CPUE), Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY), optimum efforts, exploitation rates and total allowable catch (TAC) of Rabbitfish in Makassar waters. This study uses time-series data, namely annual data from the fisheries statistics report at the Office of Marine and Fisheries Service, South Sulawesi Province from 2007 until. 2016. The method used to predict fish resource potential in the study is the Surplus Production method referring to the Schaefer model. The results of the study showed that the average production and standard efforts in the 10-year period were 78.8 tons per year and 1304 standard units per year respectively. The estimation results obtained by MSY and the optimum efforts of rabbitfish per year were 104 tons and 1142 standard units, respectively and total allowable catches (TAC) are 82.979 tons per year. The level of utilization of rabbitfish resources in Makassar waters in the last three years has been overexploitation.

Abstract This study aims to determine the catch per unit effort (CPUE) or abundance, maximum sustainable yield (Cmsy), optimum effort (Emsy), catch quota, utilization level, and effort of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacarez) for small scale fisheries in Bulukumba Regency, using a surplus production method, as well as time-series data for 11 years. According to the results, the CPUE or abundance average, Cmsw, Emsw, and catch quota, were about 4.4284 tons/unit, 720 tons, 184 units of hand line, and 576 tons, respectively. Meanwhile, the sustainable production with actual production showed overfishing, except for 2010 and 2015, while the production data for 2016 – 2020 were unavailable. In addition, the average MSY utilization, catch quota, and average effort levels were 61.9512 %, 77.4397 %, and 86.8352%, respectively. Theoretically, the MSY utilization levels for all years were about 100%, except for 2010 (1.4449 %) and 2015 (23.7581%), as well as 2012, where the value exceeded 100% (364.7357%), while the catch quota for all years was above 100 %, except for 2010 (1.8062 %) and 2015 (29.6976 %). However, the two production data values were unavailable for 2016 – 2020. Also, the effort levels fluctuated while almost all the half values were below 100 %.

Skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), should be managed properly because even though it is renewable, natural resources can be depleted. One approach in managing fish resources is by modeling. The purpose of this study is to determine the maximum sustainable yield, the level of utilization and effort of skipjack tuna. Data on catches as well as catch efforts of skipjack tuna were collected from 9 fisheries year books of Luwu Kabupaten (District). The surplus production model used is the Schaefer, Fox, Walter & Hilborn model. Schaefer model obtained by MSY = 1541.08 tons and Fopt = 243 trips; Fox model obtained maximum sustainable yield value (YMSY) of 1602,244 tons, maximum sustainable fishing effort (fMSY) of 303 units and maximum sustainable CpUE value (UMSY) of 5.29 tons trip-1; the Walter & Hilborn model found potential stocks of sustainable reserves (Be) skipjack in Luwu district amounted to 935.72 tons year-1. Utilization rates of the skpjack tuina indicate the fish is still under exploitation.

Abstract In recent years, production of skipjack tuna in Aceh was fluctuative in decreased trend due to relatively smaller fish size production. This study was aimed to analyse the skipjack tuna utilization sustainability on actual, maximum sustainable yield (MSY), maximum economic yield (MEY), and open-access (OA) conditions in North Aceh Waters. This study used time series data in 2009-2018. The analysis method used was a Gordon-Schaefer bioeconomical model. The results that the utilization of skipjack tuna in North Aceh Waters were at economical and biological overfishing. In long-term condition, this will potentially cause a decreased fish stock that will finally disrupt the sustainability level. In actual condition, the average of skipjack tuna utilization level per year was 163.77% more than the allowed total catching product, namely 2,712.64 ton per year. To achieve sustainable point, the fishermen should decrease their effort at 19.32% of the actual condition effort. The highest biomass level was occurred in MEY regime, followed by MSY and OA regimes. This means that the management of skipjack tuna in MEY regime is more conservative than in other regimes due to not spending skipjack tuna resource maximumly, but proposing to an optimum production level, which results in a maximum profit.

The very purpose of this paper is to analyse the relationship between gold price and Rupee – Dollar exchange rate in India. The study utilises the annual data of exchange Rate (ER) and Gold Price (GP) from 1970 to 2015 to determine the relationship. Different econometric tools like Unit root test, Johansen co integration test, Vector error correction model, Granger causality test are used for detecting the long run relation, if any between the mentioned variables. The result shows that there exists a long run cointegrating relation between the variables. That is we can stabilise the Gold Price movement by controlling the exchange rate fluctuations. Likewise it also shows that Exchange rate doesn’t Granger cause to Gold price and vice versa. It means that the time series data of one vasriable cannot be used to predict another.

We explored the effects of larval dispersal distance on the impact of no-take marine reserves (NTMRs) implemented in fisheries with catch regulations. NTMRs exist in many fisheries with harvest regulated by annual catch limits. In these fisheries, catch is taken from outside NTMRs, potentially resulting in reduced abundance outside NTMRs and an overall reduction in catch. We used a spatial model with two life stages (larvae and adults) to evaluate the effects of larval dispersal distance for fisheries managed by a total allowable catch (TAC) and an NTMR. We examined effects of the timing of density-dependent mortality in relation to larval movement. Abundance reached similar values for populations with long and short larval dispersal distances. Catch declined substantially for stocks with short larval dispersal distances. When larval dispersal distances were long, catch declined to values below maximum sustainable yield (MSY), but stabilized. Catch per unit effort (CPUE) declined to 9% of CPUE at MSY for stocks with short distance larval dispersal after the implementation of an NTMR; with long distance larval dispersal, CPUE declined to approximately 50% or less of the CPUE at MSY. The CPUE did not reflect trends in abundance after the implementation of an NTMR.

There are several principal driving forces behind the damaging coastal water resources depletion in many countries, including: high population growth, degrading water resources due to overexploitation and contamination, lack of awareness among local beneficiaries regarding sustainable management, and deficient government support and enforcement of conservation programs. To ensure a water resource system is productive in coastal areas, holistic and comprehensive management approaches are required. To address the aforementioned issues, a combined methodology which considers anthropogenic activities, together with environmental problems defined as the Overall Susceptibility Socio-Ecological System Environmental Management (OSSEM) has been investigated. The OSSEM model has been applied successfully in Spain based upon daily time series data. This research is ground breaking in that it integrates the OSSEM model in a geographic information system (GIS) environment to assess the groundwater contamination based on annual time series data and the assessment of system management by means of an overall susceptibility index (OSI). Centered on OSI indicators, the renewal, salinization and water deficit potentials in the Talar aquifer were estimated to be 4.89%, 4.61%, and 3.99%, respectively. This data demonstrates a high susceptibility in terms of environmental pollution, salinization, and water deficit.

Abstract Generalized linear models were applied to identify factors affecting the capture rates (catch per unit effort, cpue) of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri and to estimate time-series data with standardized abundance indices. The adjusted models revealed that the most powerful vessels (with greater HP) were up to 3.5 times more efficient than vessels with less powerful engines. The seasonal variation of the resource changed from year to year, most likely due to variations in the recruitment season and the timing of temporary fishing bans. The variation of cpue was similar between the northern and southern sectors of the study area. In these, X. kroyeri abundances increased in the years 1996, 1997, 2001 and 2002, while in the central sector, the cpue fluctuated with a period duration of approximately two years. During the period, the relative abundance of the species displayed neither a decreasing nor an increasing trend, indicating that this has been harvested at stable levels. However, X. kroyeri stock was reduced by overfishing during the 1980s and exhibits variations in abundance that may occur in response to environmental fluctuations; thus, the harvesting of this species should be managed with extreme caution.

Recent studies indicate that strategic nonviolent campaigns have been more successful over time in achieving their political objectives than violent insurgencies. But additional research has been limited by a lack of time-series data on nonviolent and violent campaigns, as well as a lack of more nuanced and detailed data on the attributes of the campaigns. In this article, we introduce the Nonviolent and Violent Campaigns and Outcomes (NAVCO) 2.0 dataset, which compiles annual data on 250 nonviolent and violent mass movements for regime change, anti-occupation, and secession from 1945 to 2006. NAVCO 2.0 also includes features of each campaign, such as participation size and diversity, the behavior of regime elites, repression and its effects on the campaign, support (or lack thereof) from external actors, and progress toward the campaign outcomes. After describing the data generation process and the dataset itself, we demonstrate why studying nonviolent resistance may yield novel insights for conflict scholars by replicating an influential study of civil war onset. This preliminary study reveals strikingly divergent findings regarding the systematic drivers of nonviolent campaign onset. Nonviolent campaign onset may be driven by separate – and in some cases, opposing – processes relative to violent campaigns. This finding underscores the value-added of the dataset, as well as the importance of evaluating methods of conflict within a unified research design.

This research aims to know the capabilities of the fishing gear and skipjack tuna CPUE levels in the Flores Sea. The research method used direct observation in the field by following the arrest operations and conduct interviews to the fisherman of purse seine semi-active, purse seine active and drift gill net. The analysis used in this research is measuring the fishing gear ability and levels of CPUE skipjack tuna in the Flores Sea. Based on the percentage of capture ability of skipjack tuna obtained that the highest capture capability is on purse sein semi-active fishing gear where to catch the skipjack tuna by 0.36 kg in one minute. Based on the analysis of the CPUE of skipjack tuna in the Flores sea from 2007-2012, skipjack tuna production has an increase the calculation of MSY (Maximum Sustainable Yield) of 2464.8 tons. Meanwhile, in 2012 skipjack tuna production have overfishing from the MSY. The population of skipjack tuna in the Flores sea is likely to have pressured by technical factors of fishing.
