scholarly journals A Transparent Blockchain for Tracking Police Complaints

Blockchain technology is one the emerging technology today. Using blockchain the primary goal that is achieved is security. Along with security many other aspects can be achieved using blockchain. Blockchain is nothing but a chain of blocks which are connected by hashing. We can see that every new technology has become a part of our life. This technology is proving to be helpful in all the fields like education, agriculture, business, government and many more. We can also understand how beneficial it is, as it saves the time, money and human power. But this never-ending technology is lacking to provide security. The Indian Police Department has replaced the manual system with the centralized online process to register the complaint. There are many malpractices in resolution of complaints. So, to avoid them a system is proposed which helps complainer to track the complaint, get ongoing details, and enforce police officers to solve the complaints within stipulated time to avoid unnecessary delay. The main objective of this system is to provide a method to secure the FIR system using blockchain technology. The principal components of blockchain technology viz. security, transparency, decentralization, immutability prove to be helpful for securing this digitalized process. The system uses transparency of blockchain technology as the user can track the complaint at any time. The system uses hashing to provide immutability so that no one can tamper the data entered by the complainer. Smart contracts are used to avoid delay in solving the case. This will avoid malpractices and provide satisfiable results.

This chapter highlights contemporary social and generational trends including the arrival of the Millennial generation into the workforce, legalization of marijuana, the mainstream acceptance of body art as a form of self-expression, and the influence of mass media on the lives of police officers, particularly in officer-involved shootings. These emerging factors challenge law enforcement managers to consider complex issues in the workplace while maintaining the core values, camaraderie, and professional standards inherent in policing. The public safety psychologist's role is also evolving with new technology, social developments, and organizational challenges. This chapter aims to encourage dialogue between mental health professionals, law enforcement managers, and policy-makers.

Blockchain Technology is an emerging technology nowadays. The Blockchain was first used as a Peer-to-Peer ledger for registering Bitcoin transactions. The blockchain is a singly linked list which consists of a number of transactions. The blockchain is a decentralized distributed ledger which consists of a number of blocks organized in the form of a chain. A block in blockchain consists of two parts data and hash pointer. The first block in the blockchain is known as genesis block. The transactions and data in the block are secured by cryptography. The data inside a block in blockchain can be anything like bank transactions, backup data etc., which are recorded chronologically and publicly. The Hash pointer of a block is a unique code generated by a hash function like SHA256, SHA-3 etc., the hash function used in bitcoin blockchain. A block consists of a public key and a private key, using hash function digital signature is generated to the block. This is how the data inside the blockchain is so secured. The blocks are added into the blockchain by verifying the transaction in the block, the transactions are verified by miners. The miners use consensus algorithm to solve the blocks.

Blockchain technology is an emerging technology which has caught the attention of practitioners, governments, business enterprises including the academic researchers in this present century. Its attraction is mainly due to its potential to enhance the human way of doing things including service delivery and consequently leading to happier consumers and stakeholders and providing an edge over competitors, resulting in an improved brand image. Unfortunately, the adoption of a new technology is not all other easy, it takes time and effort. The major issue of the technology is the lack of regulatory measure framework to boost its acceptability among many countries of the world. Both practitioners and scholars have agreed that the technology needs to be validated, regulated, and adopted. Unfortunately, this is yet to be achieved. The chapter examined regulatory standard measures of blockchain technology as a panacea for blockchain technology acceptability. It adopts a literature review approach with a content analysis technique where several but selected views and opinions of countries on the regulatory positions were analysed. Evidence shows that the absence of regulatory measure standard is fear to non-acceptability and accessibility of blockchain technology. It also revealed that a specific regulatory standard is needed to drive the acceptability and accessibility of blockchain technology not only in Saudi Arabia but also in the globe. This paper therefore concludes that a specific regulatory measure and standard is a panacea to the acceptability and accessibility of blockchain technology.

Mobile technologies have brought about major changes in police equipment and police work. If a utopian narrative remains strongly linked to the adoption of new technologies, often formulated as ‘magic bullets’ to real occupational problems, there are important tensions between their ‘imagined’ outcomes and the (unexpected) effects that accompany their daily ‘practical’ use by police officers. This article offers an analysis of police officers’ perceptions and interactions with security devices. In so doing, it develops a conceptual typology of strategies for coping with new technology inspired by Le Bourhis and Lascoumes: challenging, neutralizing and diverting. To that purpose, we adopt an ethnographic approach that focuses on the discourses, practices and actions of police officers in relation to three security devices: the mobile digital terminal, the mobile phone and the body camera. Based on a case study of a North American municipal police department, the article addresses how these technological devices are perceived and experienced by police officers on the beat.

UNSTRUCTURED The word blockchain elicits thoughts of cryptocurrency much of the time, which does disservice to this disruptive new technology. Agreed, bitcoin launched in 2011 was the first large scale implementation of blockchain technology. Also, Bitcoin’s success has triggered the establishment of nearly 1000 new cryptocurrencies. This again lead to the delusion that the only application of blockchain technology is for the creation of cryptocurrency. However, the blockchain technology is capable of a lot more than just cryptocurrency creation and may support such things as transactions that require personal identification, peer review, elections and other types of democratic decision-making and audit trails. Blockchain exists with real world implementations beyond cryptocurrencies and these solutions deliver powerful benefits to healthcare organizations, bankers, retailers and consumers among others. One of the areas where blockchain technology can be used effectively is healthcare industry. Proper application of this technology in healthcare will not only save billions of money but also will contribute to the growth in research. This review paper briefly defines blockchain and deals in detail the applications of blockchain in various areas particularly in healthcare industry.

Abstract This research ferreted out to inspect the interconnection between emotional intelligence (EI), Blockchain technology application (BLO) and the effectiveness of Accounting information system (AIS). Survey-based data obtained from 412 respondents were applied to validate the model hypotheses. Building on the statistical analysis with the support of SPSS 25.0 and SMART- PLS (partial least squares) 3.2.8 software package, the model results inferred the impact of EI on BLO. Besides, the outputs of the study accentuated on the importance of BLO on the effectiveness of AIS. These significant additions will optimistically inspire other scholars to carry on exploring the relationship between EI and BLO in enhancing the effectiveness of AIS in research settings as well as in explaining the results. On the other hand, taking these results into consideration could promote much better solutions for issues relevant to EI and new technology application among public sector organization (PSO) in term of increasing the performance of AIS.

PurposeBlockchain is a relatively new technology. Although it has a high potential to influence organizational strategies for adoption into respective operations, it has not been widely explored yet. This study aims to assess the sectoral diversity in the timing of organizational adoption of blockchain through selected organizational factors.Design/methodology/approachA survey was conducted based on a sample of 208 IT professionals. The data was collected using an instrument containing 17 questions. The existence of sector diversity was statistically analyzed using the Least Square Regression method.FindingsThe results indicate that, except for management support and perceived ease of use, all the other factors in the analysis significantly influence sector diversity in terms of blockchain adoption timing.Originality/valueAlthough blockchain has received attention from researchers, to the best of the authors' knowledge, there is no published work in the literature that explores the organizational factors influencing sectoral differences in the timing of blockchain technology adoption. Therefore, our work is unique in the related literature since we present analyses for the diversity between public and private sectors by modeling the factors affecting the intentions for the timing of blockchain adoption as part of the organizations' IT infrastructure.

Hedge funds have been on the leading edge of technology in finance with the use of big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning algorithms, and blockchain technology. This chapter examines how and why private fund advisors utilize emerging technology. Some indicia suggest that emerging technology plays a primary role in front office and investment functions, in the securing of crypto assets, but also in private investment fund managers’ attempts to satisfy the growth expectations of clients. The use of emerging technology in trade execution and other back-office functions goes hand-in-hand with an ever-increasing interest in the private investment fund industry in investing in digital assets.

Objective - This study aimed to examine the effect of perceived behaviour control and professional commitment to the interest of doing whistleblowing. This research was conducted at the police department in Riau province. Methodology/Technique - The sample in this study was taken by using the method of data collection is called purposive sampling. The samples used in this research were 90 respondents which were all police officers working in the finance department. Data were analysed using SPSS version 20. Findings - The results showed that perceived behaviour control affects the interests do whistle blowing. Secondly, professional commitments do affect the interest of whistle blowing. Novelty - The research contributes to the related literature with its original data.
