New trends in curricula emerge globally where two or more courses of study are blended to produce a single curriculum. Countries like Finland and Jordan practiced embedded curricula in order to promote learning and reduce numerous courses of study. This qualitative study explores the integration of entrepreneurship skills (ES) across the curriculum of Radio, Television and Electronic Work trade curriculum in North-Western Nigeria. Based on the perceptions of two strata of stakeholders (entrepreneurship teachers and Radio, Television and Electronic Work curriculum planners), the feasibility and desirability of embedding entrepreneurship skills across Radio, Television and Electronic Work trade curriculum in selected technical colleges were analyzed after conducting a preliminary study. Document analysis and semi-structured interview were used as the methods for data collection. The findings show that cross-curricula entrepreneurship skills remain non-existent in technical colleges in Nigeria, largely because its implementation is not captured in technical disciplines. However, the study points out the importance of embedding entrepreneurship skills into Radio, Television and Electronic Work trade curriculum for wealth creation and employment generation among technical college graduates. In addition, the five stages of integrating curriculum adopted from the lifelong learning model were briefly discussed. The components of entrepreneurship skills discovered in the study included: entrepreneurial awareness, starting and operating a business, business ideas and opportunities, characteristics or traits of entrepreneurs, and self and paid employment among others. Donor support and retraining needs of trade teachers were also highlighted as complementary factors for enhancing the implementation of embedded curriculum in Nigeria. The findings of this study can be applicable to technical colleges in Nigeria especially in Radio and Television Trade.

Entrepreneurship education and training is systematic and recognize field of study that serves a catalyst for sustainable development, economic growth and social well-being of the society. In Nigeria technical colleges are designed to address the issue of job creation, youth employment, self-reliance, skill development and increase productivity so as to compete with the current opportunities and challenges in the labor market and the movement towards 4.0 IR for integrity. Unfortunately most of the college graduates lack the required entrepreneurial competencies and mindset to become successful entrepreneurs. Therefore to achieve such objectives there is an urgent need for integrating EET in the curriculum and the full implementation of the program in our technical colleges. The paper explores the need for integrating EET into the college curriculum; semi-structured interview was conducted with 12 selected Nigerian students in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The participants are from different geo-political zones of Nigeria, they are also from various faculties of the university; faculty of education, faculty of computing, faculty of management, faculty of science and faculty of electrical engineering. Purposive sampling technique was employed for the selection of the participants. 100 percent of the respondents’ are in support of integrating EET into technical college curriculum and the full implementation of the program across the county. It is therefore recommended that National Board for Technical Education and policy makers should endeavor to address this issue as urgent because it will help Nigeria to prosper and the African continent in general

Three research participants  were chosen among year 3 pupils. The participants were purposefully identified as they had encountered difficulties in constructing simple sentences. Three lessons to exploit the intervention were conducted in this research. The data collection methods that were used in this research to gain insights into the effectiveness of the teacher’s teaching strategy were document analysis consisting of worksheets and a pre-test and a post-test, observation and a semi-structured interview with the participants. The research findings revealed that the teaching with the use of the intervention, jazz chanting, was able to positively impact two participants in constructing simple sentences effectively.Meanwhile, triangulation of the various data also indicated that the teaching aided by the intervention failed to have the expected impact on one participant. Discussion of the research findings and conclusion had highlighted the researcher’s pertinent reflection and suggestions for further improvement on the intervention and for future research.

The study has as its main thrust the evaluation of the implementation of the national poverty reduction programme in Enugu State of Nigeria. Using cross-sectional and exploratory methods of data collection and analysis, the study discovered that, compared to most states in other parts of the country, Enugu State has a low poverty profile owing to the relative positive impact of the implementation of poverty alleviation programme. Nevertheless, policy inconsistency and mismanagement deny the programme from becoming a total success; hence the existence of a larger number of citizens that are in absolute poverty. It is therefore suggested that the way out of the ineffective poverty reduction programme in Enugu State is the effective monitoring mechanism and the creation of an enabling environment for wealth creation and employment generation.

Purpose The purpose of this paper looks into how the Islamic legal maxims (ILM) could provide a basis for Sharīʿah audit practices in assisting the institution’s managerial practice to achieve Maqasid al Shari’ah (MS). Design/methodology/approach The findings of the study recorded in this paper are based on a single case study selected from a preliminary study. The qualitative approach was used, where two phases of a semi-structured interview were conducted on the targeted participants in their natural settings. Findings It was found that with the implementation of Sharīʿah audit practices, ILM supports the achievement of MS by Islamic banks. With this, the income generated by these banking institutions is halal, and all business transactions and operations will not violate the Sharīʿah principles. Furthermore, the ILM includes principles such as “certainty is not overruled by doubt,” “matters determined according to intentions,” “the norm in transactions is that of permissibility,” “harm must be eliminated” and “judgment is to be based on knowledge and understanding.” Social implications The findings of this study have provided valuable information that would lead Muslim auditors to exhibit a strong character while abiding by Islamic principles. Originality/value MS is strongly recommended in Islamic banking institutions because of the significant relationship between MS and the objectives of business transactions where wealth must be protected in the prevention of incoming hardships occurring in society. Moreover, this paper focuses on the application of ILM in the Sharīʿah audit practices as a part of the Sharīʿah governance in Islamic banks.
