IMPORTANT TRENDS IN THE APPLICATION OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

These days information technology has held a firm place in all aspects of human life and activity. These tendencies are leading to positive changes, such as the development of various fields, professional and personal growth of people. Likewise, information and communication technologies have already been able to find important place in education as well.On this occasion, there have been adopted several Presidential and higher education ministry decrees in our country. The introduction of Moodle Electronic Education System, the organization of online courses, the introduction of blended courses, the open-source (MOOC-Massive Open Online Course) courses in higher education institutions are examples of the development of digital technology in education. The possibility of students mobility in the internet, search and retrieval of information, to study at any place and time, and many other advantages make learning and teaching comfortable. Modern technology has specific goals such as facilitation of learning and teaching instructional and learning activities, making a learning process interesting, assessment, managing information, combining data, communicating, developing relationships between a teacher-learner and parents, and facilitating professional collaboration and professional development. The objective of this trend in education is not only to educate students and to increase students' computer literacy and information technology, but also to encourage independent and creative thinking and self-expression of learners.According to UNESCO and NMC Horizon Media Consortium report, digital literacy has become a integral part of education aiming to shape lifelong learning skills of students, which can assist them later to be employed and to continue education independently.

The article is devoted to the definition of the content and the system of expert activity in the field of computer technologies, which is based on the results of determining the general system of expert activity. Expert activity should be understood as the implementation by authorized agents on the basis of special knowledge in the field of science, technology, art, crafts, etc. Studies of objects, phenomena and processes in order to provide scientifically substantiated conclusions on the diverse issues that arise in the process of life of society. Such a definition of expert activity includes both judicial and non-judicial expert examination. At present, more than 500 laws are adopted in Ukraine, which in one way or another concern the conduct of expert assessments (most of them are valid at 2019). But no any among that laws directly devoted to the expert work in the field of computer technology. So the system and content of the expert work in the field of computer technology should be established, based on knowledge of the object of expertise – computer technology. It is considered as synonymous with the concept of “information technology” or “information and communication technologies”. Information technology – it is a purposeful organized set of information processes using computer facilities, which provide high speed data processing, rapid information search, dispersal of data, access to information sources regardless of places of their location. The system of expert activity in the field of computer technologies includes examinations belonging to a group of judicial (engineering, commodity, forensic, etc.) and non-judicial (scientific and scientific and technical expertise; examination of issues of quality and conformity of goods (products) to certain requirements; examination of issues of information security; examination of issues of environmental impact and the environment of human life, etc.), as well as presented by different kindsand species examinations that have different goals focused on the study of computer technology in their various aspects and provides solutions to diverse issues.

A distinguishing feature of today’s world is that technology has built the house in which humanity lives. More and more, our lives are lived within the confines of its walls. Yet this implies that technology entails far more than the material artifacts surrounding us. Technology is no longer simply a matter of objects in the hands of individuals; it has become a very complex system in which our everyday lives are embedded. The systemic character of modern technology confronts us with relatively new questions and dimensions of human responsibility. Hence this paper points out the need for exploring systems ethics as a new field of ethics essential for managing our technological world and for transforming it into a sane and healthy habitat for human life. Special attention is devoted to the introduction of information technology, which will continue unabated into coming decades and which is already changing our whole world of technology.

Computer literacy affects all areas of human life, and our subsequent control is almost inevitable nowadays. Due to the rapid growth of scientific knowledge and development of information and communication technologies, significant changes are taking place in individual countries. New technologies are coming to the fore through which there is an increase in country's economy, employment as well as labor productivity. To some extent, this fact is influenced by the ability of basic computer skills. This aspect is also important in terms of regional development at the national, regional and local level. The aim of the paper is to characterize selected indicator of computer literacy - internet work at three levels of Slovakia (state, district and municipality). The paper will be based by data from the Statistical Office of the European Union and Statistical Office of the Slovak republic. The methods of analysis, synthesis as well as graphical and cartographic methods will be the main methods used in the paper. Based on the achieved results, it can be stated that Slovakia achieved an average of 51.4 % in the development of internet use. It is very just above the EU average. At the regional level, the highest rate of internet use is manifested in the western part of Slovakia. At the local level in the case of the Nitra district, the internet was mostly used in the hinterland of the city of Nitra.

Abstract: To run the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, lecturers must at all times be able to access and update information quickly. Thus the lecturer will not miss the latest knowledge and information from students or from the general public. Without mastering information, the lecturer will look passive and "telmi" (late thinking). Especially in this highly competitive information technology era, information becomes very important so that lecturers continuously develop and deepen their knowledge. To meet the information needs of lecturers, it is needed a mechanism for access to information and information availability. Access to information requires the availability of infrastructure (telecommunications, electricity) and devices (hardware and software) as well as mastering the use of computers (computer literacy). the problem that often arises now is that there are several attitudes of lecturers in terms of finding information. There are among lecturers who are always actively seeking and finding various information. Meanwhile there are also lecturers who are passive, in the sense that said lecturer there is no desire in finding new information and knowledge, but it is enough to hold the knowledge as it is. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi bagi dosen dibutuhkan adanya mekanisme akses terhadap informasi dan ketersediaan informasi. Akses terhadap informasi membutuhkan ketersediaan infrastruktur (telekomunikasi, listrik) dan perangkat (hardware dan software) serta penguasaan penggunaan komputer (literasi komputer). persoalan yang sering muncul sekarang adalah bahwa terdapat beberapa sikap dosen dalam  hal mencari informasi. Ada di antara dosen yang senantiasa aktif mencari dan menemukan berbagai informasi. Sementara itu ada juga dosen yang pasif, dalam arti kata dosen tersebut tidak ada keinginan dalam mencari informasi dan pengetahuan baru, tetapi cukup memadakan pengetahuan apa adanya. Bagaimana pun situasinya harus dikatakan bahwa setiap dosen tidak mungkin alpa dengan informasi, karena informasi itu adalah kebutuhan akademik dan kebutuhan ilmiah. У статті розкрито авторський підхід до підготовки й проведення лекційних занять у закладах вищої освіти в умовах змішаного навчання. Визначено, що розвиток цифрових технологій, впровадження інфор-маційно-комунікаційних технологій в освітній процес, поширення електронних освітніх ресурсів відкри-того доступу, а також необхідність дотримання парадигми компетентнісного підходу в процесі підготовки фахівців зумовлюють пошук нових форм взаємодії викладачів і студентів. На основі аналізу наукових досліджень виявлено, що лекція як форма заняття посідає важливе місце в системі підготовки фахівців протягом багатьох століть. Беручи до уваги, що у сучасному цифровому суспільстві лекція перестає бути єдиним джерелом отримання знань, акцентована цінність її з боку ознайомлення студентів з основними науковими й теоретичними положеннями предметної галузі. Зауважено, що зменшення кількості годин на лекційні заняття і збільшення їх на самостійну роботу не вирішує проблему пасивності студентів під час слухання лекцій, адже самостійну роботу важко контролювати, а за відсутності у студентів мотивації до навчання і навичок самостійно вчитися якість їх підготовки значно страждає. Обґрунтовано, що застосу-вання інтерактивних лекцій ефективне за умов попереднього ознайомлення студентів з матеріалом теми, за наявності у них навичок критичного мислення й вироблення комунікаційних умінь. Автором наголошено, що змішане навчання сприяє підвищенню ефективності самостійної роботи, організації різних форм і методів активного пізнання й творчої роботи студентів, у тому числі й під час лекційних занять. Наведено результати експериментальної роботи з провадження технологій змішано-го навчання у підготовці й проведенні лекцій з курсу «Методика навчання інформатики». Запропоно-вано авторську структуру підготовки до проведення лекцій за допомогою електронного середовища LMS Moodle, приклади різнорівневих завдань, які варто пропонувати перед лекцією, під час її читання і після неї. Результати дослідження дали змогу автору зробити висновки, що змішане навчання компен-сує невеликі часові обсяги лекційних занять за допомогою інформаційної підтримки у вигляді елек-тронного освітнього ресурсу, забезпечить налаштування інтерактивної взаємодії студентів і викладача у процесі навчання, а використання системи Moodle допоможе педагогу наповнити курс різноманітни-ми завданнями та налаштувати комунікацію зі студентами з метою збільшення продуктивної взаємодії лектора з аудиторією та перевірки рівня засвоєння матеріалу. The article reveals the author’s approach to the preparation and conduct of lectures in institutions of higher education in a mixed learning environment. It is determined that the development of digital technologies, the introduction of information and communication technologies in the educational process, the spread of electronic educational resources of open access, as well as the need to comply with the paradigm of competence-based approach in the process of training specialists determine the search for new forms of interaction between teachers and students. Based on the analysis of scientific research, it is revealed that the lecture as a form of occupation holds an important place in the system of training specialists for many centuries. Taking into account that in the modern digital society, a lecture is no longer the only source of knowledge, its value from the side of familiarizing students with the main scientific and theoretical provisions of the subject area is emphasized. It is noted that reducing the number of hours for lectures and increasing them for independent work does not solve the problem of students’ passivity while listening to lectures, because independent work is difficult to control, and in the absence of students’ motivation to learn and skills to learn independently, the quality of their training significantly suffers. It is proved that the use of interactive lectures is effective if students are first acquainted with the material of the topic, if they have critical thinking skills and develop communication skills. The author notes that mixed learning contributes to the effectiveness of independent work, the organization of various forms and methods of active learning and creative work of students, including during lectures. The results of experimental work on the implementation of mixed learning technologies in the preparation and conduct of lectures on the course “Methods of teaching computer science” are presented. It is offered to implement author’s structure of preparation for lectures using the electronic environment LMS Moodle, examples of multi-level tasks that should be offered before the lecture, during the reading and after it. The results of the study allowed the author to conclude that mixed learning will make up a small temporary amounts of lectures through information support in the form of e-learning resources, ensure the setup of interactive communication between students and the lecturer in the learning process, and the use of Moodle helps educator to fill a variety of course tasks and to configure the communication with students to increase productive interaction of the lecturer with the audience and test the level of mastering the material.

What could a visual-led approach to the learning and teaching of complex issues look like for a short online synchronous session? Through a playful performance-lecture exploring concepts in diversity, interdisciplinarity and social change entitled What could a neurodiversity-led 2050 look like?, this paper outlines the possibilities of visual-centred approach, using the ubiquitous Microsoft software PowerPoint (or open-sourced equivalents like Google Slides and Prezi). It seeks to contribute to discourses and practices around role of visual approaches in Higher Education (HE) to address ‘difficult’ topics like power and inequality in an engaging manner, and to empower learners as active participants, including those who may be think visually, such as dyslexic learners. Such approaches will be urgent in a reality characterised by profound socio-political injustice highlighted by Black Lives Matter (BLM), and amid a global pandemic, where teaching occurs online, and where learners and teachers alike may be short of time, attention and resources. Highlighting techniques and perspectives from art, film and neurodiversity, it invites the consideration of the PowerPoint performance-lecture as a simple yet engaging and responsive process for higher order learning and creative thinking. A secondary point of the article to call for HE to itself apply a degree of critical and creative thinking about its own position, to use self-knowledge to do better, in order to move forward. It welcomes feedback and challenges, and calls for the creation of yet more playful, innovative, visual-led approaches in the learning and teaching of complex issues in Higher Education.

Information Technology (IT) sector consist of many areas from computers, mobile phones, tablets to wearable technologies. Nowadays, computers and phones, and  all advanced products have greatly facilitated human lifes. And they have provided everyone to access information from anywhere. Especially the development of the telephones in the last few years has brought a different dimension to the information technologies. Therefore, the IT sector is rapidly growing and developing over the years. As a result, IT sector has a very important place in human life day by day. In this study, it will be discussed IT sector operating in Borsa Istanbul. They are traded 15 IT companies in Borsa Istanbul. It is examined structure of incomes and expenditures of IT firms in income statement. In addition, research & development (R&D) expenditures are analysed and they compared with other account items of income statements. The purpose of this study in Turkey is to provide information about the IT sector and financial structure. In addition, R & D expenditures of IT companies operating in Borsa Istanbul is revealed by analyzing the income statement data. It is highlighted in the study that digital transformations of the fourth industrial revolution are changing the modern human world, encouraging a person to acquire new competencies and become a qualified specialist in the digital economy. In connection with the progressive scientific and technical development, the institute of higher education is being transformed; new previously unknown approaches to the organization of higher education appear. One of such approaches is the introduction of online learning in higher education. The authors refer to the experience of 2020, when, during the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, the whole world began to actively transfer work processes to a remote format, which also affected the institute of education. Universities around the world introduced distance learning using information technology, which helped students and faculty communicate at a distance. Based on the analysis, the following conclusions were drawn: digitalization of higher education in Russian universities is currently associated with the use of information and communication technologies in the educational environment and to a lesser extent with the use of electronic educational environment in the indirect interaction of students and teaching staff. In our opinion, it is necessary for the digitalization process to be consistent and not to be reduced to full distance learning, but to competently integrate information technology into the traditional learning process.

This paper explores the interface between digital technologies and the teaching labour process in Australian higher education. We develop an adaptation of the seminal Clark (1983, 1994, 2001) and Kozma (1991, 1994) debate about whether technology merely delivers educational content unchanged – technology as the ‘delivery truck’ – or whether education is changed as a result of using different technologies – education as ‘groceries’. Our adaptation is an extension of this metaphor to include the academic teacher as the driver of the grocery truck. With the implementation of new educational technologies, the human resource management aspects of job design, motivation, skilling and work identity are often overlooked, with critical debate about the impact on the teaching labour process seldom considered. In this argument, we will unpack the Clark-Kozma dichotomy of the education/technology interface by looking beyond the embedding of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Australian higher education to examine more broadly the changes to the traditional academic role as the creator, developer and delivery agent of the educational groceries. This has been reinforced by the marketisation of the sector and the concomitant reconfiguration of the traditional teaching process. All this has led to changes in the sense of work identity for academics (McShane, 2006). While we embrace ICT as a potential benefit for both students and academic teachers, we seek to ensure that the ‘truck driver’s’ evolving role is acknowledged in scholarly debates and included in models of learning and teaching if long-term sustainable work practices are to be achieved. One such model is offered.

Communication processes are part of human life. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) and, especially, the use of smartphones have generated new forms of interaction and communication, both synchronous and asynchronous, in formal and informal spaces. One of the most used applications is WhatsApp, which allows the sending of text, documents, images, and emojis. It is important to study these new forms and languages of communication in higher education because any educational or training process is essentially communicative. This research was carried out using a mixed approach, with a nonexperimental, descriptive, and transversal design, using a technique of a survey made up of 30 items. It was applied to postgraduate university students to determine their use and value among people with a consolidated university academic career, which would allow us to determine the presence of these new languages in this context. The basic objectives were to identify the frequency of use of emojis through WhatsApp amongst Mexican graduate students and to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of their use. The results confirmed the increase of emojis in conversations conducted by WhatsApp among fellow students. As positive elements, it was determined that they favor the development of a pleasant environment, confidence, and empathy, in addition to expressing emotions, feelings, and reactions. However, emojis also have drawbacks and disadvantages. Among them is the risk that they are misunderstood since their meaning is not shared, that they divert attention from a central idea, and, in general, that they sometimes have an addictive character that implies a waste of time in a study context, such as at the university. In conclusion, it can be argued that ICTs are profoundly transforming the processes of written communication in today’s society, including the university world. New languages that present intercultural, dynamic, dialectic, and ecosystemic alternatives to speech or writing have appeared. Emojis, in the context of higher education, would be an example of this trend.
