The research is aimed to the use of think inside the box strategy be able to improve students vocabulary mastery. The subject of this study was 20 students at second grade students of SMPN 4 Praya Barat Daya. In which consist of 8 males and 12 females. It was classroom action research with two cycles, each cycles of four steps: planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data gathering used written test, and questionnaires and analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative approach. At the result of the first cycle was failed where the mean score of pre test was 62.35 and class percentage was 30% and he mean score of post test was 70.25 and class percentage was 65% and the result of the second cycle that the mean score was 80,2 and the class percentage was 80% indicating the target of 75 of the minimum criterion has been achieved, it means that the action was stopped.

This research was aimed to describe the use of mind mapping technique be able to improving students’motivation.The subject of this study was 37 students at second grade students of MTs. NW Mispalah Praya. In which consist of 25 males and 12 females. It is was classroom action research with one cycle, each cycle of four steps: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data gathering used observation sheet and test and analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative approach. At the result of pre-test was failed where the mean score of pre-test was 65 and class percentage was 52% and the result of the first cycle that the mean score was 70,4 and the class percentage was 100% indicating the target of 70 of the minimum criterion has been achieved, it means that the action was stopped

          The objective of this study was to improve the speaking ability of non-English department students of Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (UNSIKA)by using the shadowing technique. The method of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) that was conducted to the  PJKR (Pendidikan Jasmani Kesehatan dan Rekreasi) students at second grade of UNSIKA. The subject of the research consists of twenty-five students. The instruments are spoken test and observation guidelines. The research design applied in this study was a collaborative classroom action research consisting of 2 cycles covering 3 meetings for each cycle. The findings of this study showed the improvement of the students’ speaking ability from the first to the second cycle has improved highly. Where the mean score of vocabulary terms was 2 for the pre-cycle test become 3.28 for the second cycle post-test. Besides that, the mean score of grammar in the pre-cycle test was 1.84 increase 3.08 in the second cycle post-test. Same as the pronunciation term, the student's scores from the pre-cycle test to the second cycle test came up from  1.96  to  3.04.  Furthermore, for the students speaking accuracy and fluency, their score also increase from 1.44 became 2.92. This research was successful to improve the students speaking ability by using the shadowing technique.

This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.

This research aimed at finding out whether Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy improves students’ reading comprehension or not. The research was a classroom action research. The data collected through quantitative and qualitative approach. Quantitative data was gained from the result of pre-test and post-test from reading test. Meanwhile, qualitative data was gained from the result of observation sheets toward students’ and teachers’ activity. The instruments used by the researcher were test and observation sheet. The finding of the research showed that the strategy Listen-Read-Discuss improve the students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text. The improvement can be seen from the mean score of students from pre-test, post-test one, and post-test two. The mean score of pre-tests was 64.46 (50%), there were eight students who passed the minimum passing grade, in the post-test one, 75.35 (67%), twelve students passed the minimum passing grade and in the post-test two, 82.14 (89%), twenty-five students passed the minimum passing grade (KKM).

The main objective of this study is to know how effective the use of Collaborative Writing in teaching writing descriptive texts is. So this final project mainly aims at determining the effectiveness of using Collaborative Writing in teaching writing descriptive texts. This study was conducted under the consideration that the students often get difficulties in describing something. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the writer designed an action research. The population of this study was the second grade students of SMP Negeri 29 Medan. The number of the subjects of this study was 37 students. During the research, the students becoming the subjects were taught by using Collaborative Writing in teaching writing descriptive texts. There were two cycles in this action research. Each cycle consisted of four phases. Before giving treatments in those two cycles, the students were given pre-test. After each treatment in each cycle, the students were tested. And the last, they were given post-test and questionnaire. The main purpose of conducting it was to find out the validity and the reliability of the test as instrument. The result of this research showed that the students’ ability in writing descriptive texts improved after a series of treatments given in the cycles. It can be seen by comparing the means of their tests. The mean score for the pre-test was 53.92, the mean score for test 1 was 70.27, while the mean score for the post-test was 80.08. It is clear that after applying Collaborative Writing in each treatment, the mean of each test improves and gets better. The use of Collaborative Writing technique is one of the ways to make students interest in studying English especially writing descriptive text. This study focused to improve Students’ Vocabulary Achievement by Applying Anagram PlusFlashcards. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of thisstudy was students in class VII-7 of SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar. There were 32 studentstaken as the subject. The instrument for collecting data were the test for vocabulary and diarynotes, questionnaire sheets, observation sheet, and interview for process of teaching andlearning vocabulary. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result of the researchshowed that the mean of students’ score in pre-test was 56.41, the mean of students’ score inpost-test I was 69.22. The mean of students’ score in post-test II was 76.72. There wereimprovement of students’ achievement from 56.41-76.72 about 20.31 point and that score(76.72) was excelled the indicator (75). Based on diary notes, questionnaire sheets,observation sheet, and interview, it found that teaching and learning process ran well.Students were active, cooperative, enthusiastic and interested in learning vocabulary.There were 16 students (50%) agreed that the students active in learning process, 20students (62.5%) were interested, 20 students (62.5%) were enthusiastic and 19 students(59.37%) were agreed that strategy of learning was effective. It can be concluded that theapplication of anagram plus flashcards had successfully improved the students’ vocabularyachievement at the SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar.

This research aimed to explain the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of Specific Information of the text dealing with main ideas and sequence of details and Creative Reading of the text dealing with characterization and conclusion. To explain the improvement, the researcher used a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken from the second-grade students of SMAN 1 Bontomarannu with a number of the subject were 35 students. The research findings indicated that the application of SMAN 1 Bontomarannu) Strategy was significant in improving the students’ reading comprehension in terms of Specific Information and Creative reading of the text. It was proved by the mean score of the cycle I was 60.69. It was classified as fair then improved to be 73.38. It was classified as good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 50.7 that classified as poor. Therefore there was the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of Specific Information of the text dealing with main ideas and sequence of details and Creative Reading of the text dealing with characterization and conclusion.

The aim of the research is to improve the students’ vocabulary through the use of Glossing technique. The design of this research is quantitative research through pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test design This study was conducted at SMP Anugrah  Tondano. The subject of the research was the second grade students in academic year of 2019/2020. The writer used reading text of Narrative text .The result of the data analysis showed that there was an increase between the pre-test and post-test. It can be seen from 10 students showed that the mean score of  pre-test was 53 and  post-test was 74 score. Based  on this finding from this study, it can be concluded that having more vocabulary significantly affects the comprehension of the students reading activity. Moreover by having many vocabulary the students can easily get the information and can enrich their knowledge by reading a lot of book. Finally, this research proved that theGlossing technique effective to improve student’s vocabulary in reading comprehension.

ABSTRACT According to Meyer (2002) in Muniandy and Veloo (2011:173; cited in Tugiwati, 2014) defines video as a kind of multimedia material consisting of verbal and non-verbal presentations displaying simultaneous images, narration  and on screen text. Video is an electronic device that produces live images with a sounds. The major goals of this study were to investigate the implementing of video in teaching listening, the object of this study is the second grade students in senior high school. This study employed a classroom action research. Classroom action research on this study was conducted in two cycles. There are four steps in each cycle; planning, action, observation, and reflections. The data of this study were analyzed by using mix method, both of quantitative and qualitative. For quantitative method, the researcher used test to collect the data. While for qualitative method, it was analyzed by using questionnaire and observation. The test is used by the researcher to measure student’s listening skill improvement. In each cycle the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test. The questionnaires were used to support the data. Observation was used to evaluate the learning processes. The results show that the use of video in teaching listening was success to improve students’ achievement. It can be seen from the result of each test in each cycle. In cycle 1 the mean scores of pre-test 1 was 53.06, post-test 1 was57.83. While in cycle 2, pre-test 2 was 71.94, post-test 2 was 75.81. The result of questionnaires shows that the students could understand the content of the video easily. The result of observation showed that video could create fun learning.  Keywords: listening, video, teaching listening, teaching listening through video

This research was aimed at describing the improvement of skill in writing simple report using two stay two stray learning model on four theme  “Living Clean and Healthy” for students of grade II at SD Negeri Golo Yogyakarta school year 2017/2018. The type of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles. The result of this research showed that by using two stay two stray learning model could improve the skill in writing simple report for students in class IIB at SD Negeri Golo Yogyakarta. The students mean score obtained in the pre-test was 58,96 and increased into 68,33 in the post-test of Cycle I and become 76,04 in the post-test of Cycle II. Based on the result of the research, it could be concluded that the use of two stay two stray learning model could improve second grade students skill in writing simple report at SD Negeri Golo Yogyakarta.
