Objective. The study of the prevalence and clinical man­ifestations of T. tenax, P. hominis, along with T. vagina­lis and G. lamblia invasions among patients with STIs, and development of their treatment method with the use of secnidazole, ornidazole and ciprofloxacin. Materials and methods. With the help of the PCR method, 314 patients with inflammation of the genitourinary system have been studied. Results and discussion. The geni­tourinary system protozoan invasions have been detect­ed in 106 patients among 314 patients with STIs - that is, more than in a third (33.8 %), namely: T. tenax - in 26 (8.3 %), P. hominis - in 67 (21.3 %), G. lamblia - in 21 patients (6.7 %). The proposed treatment allows for the clinical recovery in 92.2 % and bacteriological sanita­tion - in 96.1 %. Conclusions: Protozoan invasions are rather common among patients with STIs. The proposed method of their treatment is sufficiently effective.

Purpose of the study – establish the eff ectiveness of «Ofor» and «Gynekit» use in sequential combined application in the therapy of prostate gland infl ammatory diseases, which associated with a specifi c and mixed microbial flora.Materials and methods. A clinical prospective study was conducted, 30 patience of outpatient department of the «Men’s Health» clinic, suff ering from infl ammatory diseases of the prostate gland, took part in it. As methods of research, in addition to standard complex, the following were chosen: IN POUCH TV-test; Androfl or (PCR method); sonographic examination of the prostate and spermogram. Results of the study. The study found that in the general contingent clinical recovery was registered in 29 patients (96.7% of the total contingent), laboratory – in 27 cases (90% of the total contingent). The return of symptoms in 3 months was registered in 2 patients (6.7% of the total contingent).Conclusions. The level of eff ectiveness of “Ofor” and “Gynekit” use in combination with a set of auxiliary pharmaco and physiotherapy for patients, who suff ering from infl ammatory diseases of the prostate gland, associated with specifi c and mixed microbial fl ora, reaches 96.7%. Analysis of the etiological variability of the clinical eff ect indicates the presence of single cases of incomplete eff ect of this therapeutic model, with the etiology of the disease associated with Trichomonas vaginalis.

Study of protozoyny invazions of the uroganital system with combination of microorganisms which are associated with bacterial vaginosis by women of fertil age and their sexual partners men is perspective direction of modern medicine. The development of this direction can increase the level of diagnostic inspection of patients by transmissible mainly sexual way infections and improve of efficiency of their treatment. The objective: exposure of combine defeats of uroganital system with different kinds of trichomonas or lamblias and microorganisms which are associated with bacterial vaginosis, for the women of fertil age and their sexual partners – men. All patients have infections, transmissible mainly sexual way with a chronic process and their treatment. Materials and methods. The special research of biomaterial, taken from the urogenital system of women of fertil age and their sexual partners-men, patients infections, transmissible mainly sexual way with a chronic process is conducted. 198 patients were inspected in clinic. Used the method of PCR, amplifier of DT-96, reagents of «Femoflor-16», praymeris for the indication of Trichomonas vaginalis, Trichomonas tenax, Pentatrichomonas hominis and Giardia lamblia. Results. Protozoyny invasions of the urogenital system determined at 88 (44.4%) of patients. At 77 (38.8%) from them determined the differet kinds of trichomonadies: Trichomonas tenax – at 41 (20.7%), Pentatrichomonas hominis – at 28 (14.1%), Trichomonas vaginalis – at 8 (4%). Giardia lamblia determined from 11 patients (5.6%). For 92% inspected patients with a protozoal invasions were determined the increassng of indexes of microflora, associated with bacterial vaginosis. The treatment of combine pathology of urogenital system which are caused different kinds trichomonades and microorganisms, which associated with BV, were conducted with etiotropic therapy. Seknidox used 2 tablets one time per day during 5 days. Orcipol used 1 tablets 3 or 2 times per a day (depending on weight) during 10 days. In research took part 56 patients with chronic ITSW. By 54 patients (96.4%) were eliminated of trichomonas. The normalization microflora’s level is attained for a 31 (57.4%) patient. Decrease of mocroflora’s, which associated with BV is marked by 24 patients (42.6%). Conclusions. This original method of treatment, is effective, has satisfactory bearableness and can be recommended for empiric therapy of combined pathology of urogenital system, caused of protozoyny invasions (different kinds of trichomonas) and microorganisms, associated with bacterial vaginosis, for the women of fertil age and their sexual partners with chronic infections, transmissible mainly sexual a way. This agents have a certain role in development of diseases of the urogenital system. The aim of the study was to analyze the effi cacy of the drug “Macmiror” (active substance – nifuratel) in the treatment of chronic specifi c bacterial fi brous and calculous prostatitis associated with trichomoniasis and candidiasis.Materials and methods. The study was conducted on 50 patients of the “Clinic “Men’s Health”, suff ering from chronic specifi c bacterial fi brous and calculous prostatitis (mixed infection: trichomonadial-bacterial-candidiasis associates of various structure). As methods of research, in addition to the standard complex, the following were chosen: IN POUCH TV-test; PCR method; sonographic examination ofthe prostate and spermogram.Results of the study. Patients who completed the study were treated with chronic specifi c bacterial fi brous and calculous prostatitis (N41.1) for 14 days, according to the following therapeutic model: oral administration of nifuratel as part of the “Macmiror” preparation at a total dosage of 1200 mg per day (6 tablets of 200 mg) divided into 3 doses and physiotherapy.Conclusions. A general (in relation to diff erent types and combinations of infectious agents) of the therapeutic model has been established at a level of 71% to 100%. Treatment had absolute (clinical and laboratory) effi cacy against isolated Candida spp.; absolute clinical effi cacy and 71-85% laboratory effi cacy against isolated Trichomonas vaginalis; 92% clinical and 76-84% laboratory effi cacy against the combination of these infectious agents; 92% clinical and 80% laboratory effi cacy against the combination of these infectious agents and non-specifi c bacterial fl ora, as the etiological factors of chronic specifi c bacterial prostatitis.

The paper presents data on comparison of microscopy, culture and molecular (PCR) methods for diagnosis of trichomoniasis, as well as on evaluation of the quality of culture media for isolation of trichomonads produced by Russian and international manufacturers. The highest sensitivity was shown for the molecular (real-time PCR) method. Microscopy of stained and wet smears demonstrated relatively high sensitivity. The culture media that are widely used in our country for Trichomonas vaginalis isolation need optimization.

The aim: to study the prevalence of protozoal infestations in cases of acute inflammatory exacerbations in genitourinary clinic. Materials and methods. The method of polymerase chain reaction was used to examine 158 subjects with chronic inflammation of the genitourinary system exacerbations. Results. Infestation of the genitourinary system was identified in 72 patients (45.6 %). Trichomonas infestation was identified in 63 (87.5 %) of them. Trichomonas vaginalis was identified in 1 (1.4 %) subject. Other Trichomonas species – in 62 (86.1 %) subjects. 12 (16.7 %) had Trichomonas tenax, and 50 (69.4 %) – Pentatrichomonas hominis. Giardia lamblia was identified in 9 patients – i.e. in 12.5 % individuals with infestation of the genitourinary system, or in 5.7 % among subjects examined for STIs in this study. Conclusions: High level of Trichomonas infestation of the genitourinary system was identified in subjects with of chronic inflammatory exacerbations of the genitourinary system. In most cases, infestations were caused by Trichomonas species other than Trichomonas vaginalis, as well as by Giardia lamblia. An assumption about a certain role of these pathogens in the onset or further course of inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system was made.

Feline lower urinarytract disease (FLUTD) is a life-threatening condition in cats, especially in obstructive males. In a clinical situation, early diagnosis and correction of this condition is very important, otherwise the disease ends in death. FLUTD manifested by stranguria, pollakiuria, dysuria, and, in severe cases, hematuria and obstruction by anuria. This article discusses the features of the clinical course of FLUTD in 5 cats with obstructive idiopathic cystitis. Animals were selected with a similar history, they were animals from 3 to 7 years old, with exclusively home keeping, no walking and a diet consisting of dry commercial food. All animals underwent a complete clinical examination, complete blood count, general urinalysis, ultrasound of the genitourinary system and heart. For two weeks, the animals underwent a complex treatment consisting of infusion therapy, anesthesia with dexmedetomidine and NSAIDs (meloxicam), which led to clinical recovery in all animals within 14 days, all animals on an ongoing basis were prescribed amitriptyline, observation of the animals for 6 months did not reveal a relapse of the disease.

The aim was to perform systematic review of genitourinary protozoan invasion and analyze their pathogenicity and the ability to influence the genitourinary infections. Materials and methods: For systematic review of papers the EMBASE and PubMed databases were searched. We also reviewed our own pilot studies using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to determine Trichomonas tenax, Pentatrichomonas hominis and Giardia lamblia. Conclusions: Trichomonas tenax, Pentatrichomonas hominis, Giardia lamblia can cause genitourinary invasion in addition to Trichomonas vaginalis. Their eradication is obligatory at least for not keeping intact pathogenic microorganisms phagocyted by Trichomonas spp. Defining the protozoan forms is important in preventing of genital infections recurrences and reinfections.

Many steel parts are electro-plated with chromium to protect them against corrosion and to improve their wear-resistance. Good adhesion of the chrome plate to the steel surface, which is essential for long term durability of the part, is extremely dependent on surface preparation prior to plating. Recently, McDonnell Douglas developed a new pre-treatment method for chrome plating in which the steel is anodically etched in a sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid solution. On carbon steel surfaces, this anodic pre-treatment produces a dark, loosely adhering material that is commonly called the “smut” layer. On stainless steels and nickel alloys, the surface is only darkened by the anodic pre-treatment and little residue is produced. Anodic pre-treatment prior to hard chrome plating results in much better adherence to both carbon and alloy steels.We have characterized the anodic pre-treated steel surface and the resulting “smut” layer using various techniques including electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA) on bulk samples and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) on stripped films.

Studies have investigated the applications of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy in the treatment of hypernasality due to velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD; Cahill et al., 2004; Kuehn, 1991; Kuehn, Moon, & Folkins, 1993; Kuehn et al., 2002). The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of CPAP therapy to reduce hypernasality in a female subject, post-traumatic brain injury (TBI) and pharyngeal flap, who presented with signs of VPD including persistent hypernasality. Improvements in mean velopharyngeal orifice size, subjective perception of hypernasality, and overall intelligibility were observed from the baseline to 8-week post-treatment assessment intervals. Additional long-term assessments completed at 2, 3, and 4 months post-treatment indicated decreases in immediate post-treatment improvements. Results from the present study suggest that CPAP is a safe, non-invasive, and relatively conservative treatment method for reduction of hypernasality in selected patients with TBI. More stringent long-term follow up may indicate the need for repeated CPAP treatment to maintain results.
