The present work aims with the evaluation of copper, manganese and zinc concentrations (mobile forms) from vineyard soil before and after phytosanitary treatment with Curzate Manox and Dithane M-45 compounds, during and after remanence period. Different vineyard soils types were collected at 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm depths. Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (FAAS) method was used for measurements of the micronutrients. The soil samples were analyzed after 5 and 21 days after treatment application. Since copper is mainly accumulates in the upper layer following fungicidal sprays application, high levels of copper concentrations are obtained. The soil samples exhibits different behavior in terms of manganese and zinc contents. Manganese and zinc levels are classified as medium in the beginning of the experiment (Mn-M0 and Zn-M0), whereas these levels increased in the soil samples (at moments M1- 5 days and M2- 21 days after treatment). This behavior can be due to the Mancozeb decomposition, knowing that Mancozeb decomposes in the pH range 5-9 and it remains short time into the soil.

Metallic ions present a great importance in oenological practice and usually are present in wines in levels that are not hazardous. Among all metallic ions, zinc presents a great interest because may cause the persistence of the wine sour taste and by the side of Al, Cu, Fe and Ni, contribute to the haze formation and the change of color. The present study was focused on measuring the concentration levels of mobile zinc from vineyard soil before and after phytosanitary treatments and zinc content from white (Feteasca Alba - FA, Riesling Italian - RI, Sauvignon Blanc - SB, Tamaioasa Romneasca - TR), rose (Busuioaca de Bohotin - BB) and red (Feteasca Neagra - FN) wines within the wine-growing Tohani area, Romania. Other objective was to investigate of the influence of crop year and variety on zinc levels found in wine samples. Mobile zinc content for all analyzed soil samples is low ([1.5 mg/kg). Analyses indicated that zinc content found in wines was below 5 mg/L, limit set by Organisation Internationale of Vine and Wine (OIV). Also, it was found that red wines contain zinc in higher concentrations than white ones.

Chemical modified silica fume by polyaniline was studied as a sorbent for removal of chromium (VI) determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometer. TEM analysis confirmed that the mean diameter of silica fume before and after treatment was of the order of 120 nm. The functionalized nanoparticles showed an extremely high efficiency towards chromium (VI) in the pH range of 4-5. Adsorption of chromium (VI) from water using functionalized silica fume was both a simple and efficient approach compared to the traditional adsorbents from the angle of integrated utilization of the secondary resources.

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in Brazil and in the worl. The surgical treatment procedure may cause severe morbidity in the upper limb homolateral to surgery, including the reduction of the range of motion, with consequent impairment of function. A physiotherapeutic approach has an important role in the recover range of motion and the functionality of these women, guaranteeing the occupational, domestestic, familiar and conjugated activities, and, in this way, also improving the quality of life. Objectives: To analyse chances in the shoulder's range of motion and the functional capacity of the upper limbs, promoted by the deep running procedure in women with late postoperative mastectomy. Methods: All the patients were submitted to an evaluation in the beginning and end of the treatment, including: goniometry of flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal and external rotation of the shoulder joint; and function capacity analysis in activities that involve the upper members by DASH questionnaire. The treatment protocol includes twelve sessions of deep running, realized twice a week, in deep pool, for 20-minute during six weeks. Results: Were submitted to treatment a total of 4 patients. Despite the improvement in the numerical values, statistically significant differences were not found on the range of movements and in the functional capacity of upper members before and after the deep running sessions in post-mastectomy women. Conclusion: Deep running had effects on the numerical values of range of movement and upper limb functionality in women in the late postoperative period of the mastectomy procedure, but without statistically significant differences.

Improved quality control and prolonged shelf life are important actions in preventing food waste. To get an overview of the bacterial diversity of fillets from live stored mature Atlantic cod, bacterial isolates were identified before and after storage (air and vacuum) and freezing/thawing. Based on the load of dominating bacteria, the effect of different packaging methods and a short freezing/thawing process on prolonged shelf-life was evaluated (total viable counts, bacteriota, sensory attributes, and volatile components). Hand filleted (strict hygiene) cod fillets had a low initial bacterial load dominated by the spoilage organism Photobacterium, whereas industrially produced fillets had higher bacterial loads and diversity (Pseudomonas, Arthrobacter, Psychrobacter, Shewanella). The identified bacteria after storage in vacuum or air were similar to the initially identified bacteria. Bacteriota analysis showed that a short time freezing/thawing process reduced Photobacterium while modified atmosphere packaging (MAP; 60%CO2/40%O2 or 60%CO2/40%N2) inhibited the growth of important spoilage bacteria (Photobacterium, Shewanella, Pseudomonas) and allowed the growth of Carnobacterium/Carnobacteriaceae and Acinetobacter. Despite being dominated by Photobacterium, fresh fillets stored in MAP 60%CO2/40%N2 demonstrated better sensory quality after 13 days of storage than fillets stored in MAP 60%CO2/40%O2 (dominated by Carnobacterium/Carnobacteriaceae). Carnobacterium spp. or other members of Carnobacteriaceae may therefore be potential spoilage organisms in cod when other spoilage bacteria are reduced or inhibited.

AbstractThis paper brings out the results of the study on the levels of selected trace elements (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cr) in aerial parts of Thymus pannonicus All. (Lamiaceae) and rhizosphere soil from twelve locations in Serbia. Prior to assays by flame and flameless atomic absorption spectrometry, samples were subjected to microwave-assisted acid digestion. Real and potential acidity of soil samples were also measured. Obtained results for soil samples, although slightly higher for some elements (Cu: 12.38–45.18 mg/kg; Fe: 22102–46193 mg/kg; Mn: 776.95–4901.27 mg/kg; Zn: 62.27–214.02 mg/kg; Cr: 48.86–69.13 mg/kg), were found to fit into biogeochemical background. Element contents in plant samples differed depending on collecting site (Cu: 5.26–14.07 mg/kg; Fe: 25.92–1454.07 mg/kg; Mn: 89.29–278.25 mg/kg; Zn: 1.81–10.64 mg/kg; Cr: 1.11–3.51 mg/kg), which can be partly explainable by different nutrient availability influenced by soil acidity. Zinc levels in T. pannonicus were below expected and seem to be strongly influenced by plant physiological properties.

AbstractThe effects on carabids of natural, fescue, and rye sod types and of tillage were investigated in a pest management apple orchard. Carabids were sampled before and after the treatments by pitfall trapping and by two types of soil sampling. There were no significant effects of sod type on pitfall trap catches; however the abundance of all common species in soil samples was significantly affected by sod types. Usually in soil samples carabids were most abundant in natural sod and least abundant in tilled plots; numbers were intermediate in fescue and rye. Sod type did not affect structure or diversity of the carabid fauna.

Properly selected tillage methods and management of the available organic matter resources are considered important measures to enable farming in accordance with the principles of sustainable agriculture. Depending on the depth and intensity of cultivation, tillage practices affect soil chemical composition, structure and biological activity. The three-year experiment was performed on the soil under spring wheat (cv. Tybalt) short-time cultivation. The influence of different tillage systems and stubble management on the soil’s chemical and biological parameters was analyzed. Organic carbon content (OC); content of biologically available phosphorus (Pa), potassium (Ka), and magnesium (Mg); content of total nitrogen (TN), mineral nitrogen forms: N-NO3 and N-NH4 were determined in various soil samples. Moreover, the total number of microorganisms (TNM), bacteria (B), actinobacteria (A), fungi (F); soil respiratory activity (SR); and pH in 1 M KCl (pH) were also investigated. The results show that organic matter amendment is of greater influence on soil characteristics than the tillage system applied. Manure application, as well as leaving the straw in the field, resulted in higher amounts of organic carbon and biologically available potassium. A significant increase in the number of soil microorganisms was also observed in soil samples from the experimental plots including this procedure.

Abstract This study compared N HNO3 to other methods to determine plant available heavy metals in heavy-metal polluted soils. Soil samples were obtained from an experimental field treated with industrial waste after 22 years of the amendment and employed to conduct the comparative and correlation study. Soil samples were analyzed for Cu using various methods, planted in a glass house with several plants, and analyzed for soil and plant Cu and Zn. The relative strength of the chemical extractants followed the order of N HNO3 ≈ N HCl > Buffered DTPA ≈ Unbuffered DTPA > M CaCl2 ≈ N NH4OAc pH 7. A high correlation was observed for soil extracted Cu by M CaCl2 or N NH4OAc pH 7 or N HCl vs. Buffered DTPA and N HNO3 or N NH4OAc pH 7 vs. N HCl. High correlations of plant and soil Cu extracted by N HNO3 were shown by caisim, water spinach, land spinach, and corn, while plant and soil Zn were shown by caisim, water spinach, land spinach, and lettuce.
