On the occasion of Tamás Varga's 100th birthday, I conducted video interviews with Hungarian and foreign colleagues and with family members from Tamás Varga. At the Varga 100 conference, a 45-minute film composed of these interviews was shown during the opening ceremony. The following narrative emerged from my work as a reporter and scriptwriter: The memory of Tamás Varga is permanently alive, the ideas that go back to him are also always present throughout the processes of change in mathematics teaching. From this point of view, there is a mathematics didactic tradition in Hungary, which is consist of many components connected to Tamás Varga and form a narrative that expresses all the characteristics. Classification: A30, D30 Keywords: Tamás Varga, Hungarian mathematics didactic tradition, narrative memory

This chapter looks at these interracial interactions from the point of view of Indians in an effort at writing a historical anthropology of Indian patriotism. At the core of Indians' military participation and commemoration of the Great War, the practice of giving, to non-Indians or to Indians, to outsiders or to insiders, to family members or to complete strangers, structured the expression of patriotism in Indian communities. Examining Memorial and Armistice Days, in particular, this chapter looks at the role these holidays played in allowing Indians to maintain boundaries with their white neighbors and develop a series of adaptations of patriotic symbols and ceremonies that acclimatized patriotism for reservation life on an unprecedented scale.

This chapter considers Ann Charney’s Dobryd, a memoir with a profound treatment of the aftermath of the Holocaust. Reported from a child’s point of view, the narrative provides a glimpse into the deepest workings of Charney’s psyche from the age of 3 until the age of 10. Though not a feminist fable, Dobryd is a story in which all the protagonists — Charney, her mother, and her aunt — are women who struggle and succeed on their own during the war and in the chaos of post-war Poland. Named after a Polish town near Lviv, the memoir encompasses the lives of members of three generations of a Jewish family as they and their community suffer through the horrors of the Holocaust. The story follows family members over a period of about forty years, penetrating deep into their inner world.

There is plenty wrong with our mathematics programs and our mathematics teaching. I do not wish to deny this fact. But, I feel the more serious problem is that we mathematics teachers have come to seek out and emphasize the negative. There are several pitfalls in this attitude.

As for the qualitative definition of the theoretical structure of the concept of algorithm, obtained by building a system of its study on the basis of component analysis in the article, it should be completed by studying the types of algorithmic processes. Three common types of such processes (linear, branching and recursive) play a slightly different role here. The first two types are somewhat simple, as we tried to show in Example 1, it would be natural to use them in the study of the components of the algorithm. Recursive processes can be applied to the play of already separated concepts. There are plenty of examples in various sections of Algebra, such as the "sequences" section, in particular. Finding the approximate value of an expression using the Heron formula can be a good example of recursive processes. The purpose of the research is to develop a methodological system that identifies opportunities to improve the quality of integrated mathematics teaching in V-IX grades and connect it with computer technology as well as identifies ways to apply it in the learning process. Textbooks often show the performance of a particular action on a few specific examples. We come across different situations here. Sometimes the rule is stated after the solution of the work, and sometimes the work is considered after the expression of the rule. The third case is possible, there is no definition of the rule in the textbook, but specific examples of the application of the formed algorithm are considered. This is quite common in school textbooks, especially when considering complex algorithms. In such cases, it is accepted to call the solutions of the studies as examples. The sample solution must meet certain requirements. Let's separate some of them from the point of view of the formed algorithm: the most characteristic cases of the considered type of problem should be considered; numerical data should be selected in such a way that the necessary calculations can be performed orally in order to draw students' attention to the sequence of elementary operations that make up the steps of the formed algorithm. If the problem-solving example meets these requirements, then the type of problem assigned to it can be considered as an algorithm for solving the problem. If, depending on the initial data, there are several fundamentally different cases of problem solving, it is necessary to consider examples of problem solving for each such case.

Abstract:This article was an assessment of breaking badhabits theory offered by E.R. Guthrie by providing reinforcement from an Islamic teaching point of view so that it could be used as a solution to break bad habits of students in a lesson. There are three methods offered by E.R. Guthrie in breaking bad habits: First, the threshold method. This method is in accordance with the four stages of break the habit of drinking khamrfound in Qur'an. Second, the fatigue method. This method is in accordance with the command to be patient in telling family members to pray as stated in Thāhā verse 132. Third, the incompatible response method. This method is in accordance with Islamic views, one of which is found in surah al-Burûj verses 10-11. In addition to the above three methods, in the view of Islam, there areelementsin a lesson that are no less important, namely the environmental elements, that good or bad the character of an individual canbe formed by the surrounding environment, as implied in the hadith of the Prophet Mohamed about the parable of a good friend such as musk oil traders and bad friends such as the blacksmith's fire blower.

BACKGROUND The number of published studies and systematic reviews examining different telehealth interventions targeting patients and their effects on patients’ well-being and quality of life have grown in recent decades. However, the use of telemedicine tools aimed at the family members and caregivers of adult cancer patients is less defined. OBJECTIVE We aimed to conduct a systematic review to provide a more complete picture regarding telemedicine tools for informal caregivers (usually family members or close friends) implemented in all phases of cancer care. More specifically, the review aimed to better describe the study samples’ characteristics, to analyze measured outcomes and the specific questionnaires used to assess them, and to describe in depth the implemented interventions and their formats. Finally, we examined the role of telehealth, and usability and feasibility trends in supporting patients’ caregivers. METHODS We systematically searched the literature in the following databases: Web of Science, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Google Scholar, and PsycINFO. Inclusion criteria were being written in English, published in peer-reviewed journals, describing a telehealth-implemented intervention, and focusing on caregivers of adult cancer patients at any stage of the disease. We selected studies published up to November 2017. We critically appraised included articles using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and graded the quality of evidence by outcome using the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine framework. RESULTS We included 24 studies in the final selection. In 21 of the 24 studies, the patient-caregiver dyad was analyzed, and the study population dealt with different types of cancer at different stages. Included studies considered the caregiver’s condition from both an individual and a relational point of view. Along with psychosocial variables, some studies monitored engagement and user satisfaction regarding Web-based platforms or telehealth interventions. All studies reported significant improvements in some of the investigated areas, but they often showed small effect sizes. Two types of telehealth intervention formats were used: Web-based platforms and telephone calls. Some of the included studies referred to the same project, but on study samples with different cancer diagnoses or with new versions of previously developed interventions. CONCLUSIONS Reported outcomes seem to suggest that we are in an exploratory phase. More detailed and targeted research hypotheses are still needed. Clarifying caregivers’ needs related to telehealth tools and better defining outcome measures may yield more significant results.

The article is devoted to the application of preventive measures to persons with mental disorders. The article presents the views and positions of leading domestic scientists on the types of the most effective precautionary measures for persons in respect of whom proceedings on the application of coercive measures of a medical nature are considered. The article draws attention to international standards as guidelines on the path to legality and justice in the process of applying precautionary measures against insane persons. Scientific positions on the types and features of special precautionary measures that can be applied to insane persons are given. The author found that the problematic issues of application of precautionary measures against persons subject to proceedings on the application of coercive measures of a medical nature are the lack of regulations in the CPC of Ukraine or family members within the precautionary measure in the form of transfer to the care of guardians, close relatives or family members with compulsory medical supervision, as well as the lack of direct right of the person in respect of which the application of coercive measures of a medical nature is decided. appeal against a court decision on the application of a precautionary measure. To improve the legislative provision of the rights of persons subject to coercive measures of a medical nature, as well as to eliminate legislative gaps in the mechanism of application of precautionary measures against such persons, the author proposed specific regulations on the procedure of application of precautionary measures under Chapter 39 of the CPC of Ukraine. care for guardians, close relatives or family members with mandatory medical supervision; as well as placement in a psychiatric institution in conditions that exclude its dangerous behavior. The article expresses the point of view on the need to improve the legislative technique by developing sanctions against persons responsible for the implementation of precautionary measures against insane persons.

Should English teachers be teaching reading or writing? The obvious answer is that they should be leaching both. Reading and writing continue to be essential skills in our society, and we have no reason to believe that their importance will diminish. A person without access to the basic tools of reading and writing is severely handicapped in the vast majority of pursuits, from earning a living to developing intellectually.

My first glimpse of mathematics teaching in the United States was through conf ercnces and work hops in Mexico conducted by Donovan Johnson. How lively and enjoyable the learning and teaching of mathematics. could be! My vision was expanded when I became a member of the ational Council of Teachers of Mathematic and eagerly read the Mathematics Teacher, the Arirhmeric Teacher. the yearbooks, and other NCTM publications. What a wealth of ideas, what richness of approaches-discovery learning. mathematics laboratorie. games. activities with manipulative, applications. The myriad ways to con truct meaning!. shed light on the learning and teaching of mathematics. I expected that in the United States thi wealth of information would be reflected in the teaching of mathematics.

Among other things, the newer approaches to mathematics teaching attempt to have students gain an appreciation of the subject by means of seeing patterns and generalizations which emerge from a study of certain mathematical instances. Hopefully, the students get a feeling for the beauty and power of mathematics from their realization of the existence of the structure, regularity, and order which permeate every branch of the subject. Yet there is another way in which students can sense the strength of mathematics. This is in the recognition of the fact that, at times, seemingly different situations actually have elements in common which, when seen from a certain point of view, produce strikingly analogous results. It is the purpose of this article to give an example of such an analogue. It has to do with the graphs of equations of two variables involving absolute values.
