WHO’s data shows that suicide rates increase every year. In 2015, more than 800,000 people died caused by suicide. The average of suicide case in Indonesia is about 300.000 people each year. Depression, stress and inability to face life's challenges are considered as the trigger for more suicidal behaviour. By those phenomena, many efforts are needed to solve them. Paul G. Stolz (called as Stolz) states that one of important thing for human is Adversity Quotient (AQ) or intelligence to face problems. Based on Stolz, the one who has a high Adversity Quotient will not easy to give up when s/he faced difficulties. s/he will keep tough, tries to face many obstacles well.This paper will explore the concept of Adversity Quotient values in Qur’an since it is the source of life, rich of values of how to face and live the life. Thus thematic methodis chosen to analyse this paper. The result of this study shows that the intelligence to face the problems taught in Qur’an is like the concept of patient in the Qur’an. There is adimension of human spirituality, in which to face loads of problems, human is reminded to take in or receive (to be ridla, to be sincere, and to do maximum effort and to have spiritual element: to submit everything to Allah). Allah is with those who are patient. The result of this study is expected to construct human perspective and mentality in facing life problems, so as to have a high Adversity Quotient, thus human does not easily despair of his problems, keeps tough and does not easy to commit suicide.

Suicide is a global problem. According to the WHO in 2015 more than 800,000 people / year died from suicide. The average number of Indonesians who died from suicide reached 24 per 100,000 inhabitants. at present the suicide case in Gunungkidul shifts to productive age. The increase in suicides in Gunungkidul is a problem that must be dealt with together. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge, and mental health for survivors, families, and communities in Gunungkidul and to prevent rising suicide rates in Gunungkidul. The method applied in this activity is counseling and mentoring. The impact gained is an increase in family and community knowledge about endurance and the role that can be taken in preventing suicide in the surrounding environment, in addition it is expected to restore psychological and spiritual pressure to the victim so as not to commit suicide again.

Abstract Aims The 2014 World Health Organization report on global suicide identified large differences in the male-to-female ratio of suicide rates between countries: most high-income countries (HICs) report ratios of 3:1 or higher while many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) – including China and India – report ratios of less than 1.5:1. Most authors suggest that gender-based social-cultural factors lead to higher rates of suicidal behaviour among women in LMICs and, thus, to relatively high female suicide rates. We aim to test an alternative hypothesis: differences in the method and case-fatality of suicidal behaviour – not differences in the rates of suicidal behaviour – are the main determinants of higher female suicide rates in LMICs. Methods A prospective registry of suicide attempts treated in all 14 general hospitals in a rural county in China was established and data from the registry were integrated with population and mortality data from the same county from 2009 to 2014. Results There were 160 suicides and 1010 medically-treated suicidal attempts in the county; 84% of female suicides and 58% of male suicides ingested pesticides while 73% of female attempted suicides and 72% of male attempted suicides ingested pesticides. The suicide rate (per 100 000 person-years of exposure) was 8.4 in females and 9.1 in males (M:F ratio = 1.08:1) while the incidence of ‘serious suicidal acts’ (i.e. those that result in death or received treatment in a hospital) was 81.5 in females and 47.7 in males (M:F ratio = 0.59:1). The case-fatality of serious suicidal acts was higher in males than in females (19 v. 10%), increased with age, was highest for violent methods (92%), intermediate for pesticide ingestion (13%) and lowest for other methods (5%). Conclusions The incidence of medically serious suicidal behaviour among females in rural China was similar to that reported in HICs, but the case-fatality was much higher, primarily because most suicidal acts involved the ingestion of pesticides, which had a higher case-fatality than methods commonly used by women in HICs. These findings do not support sociological explanations for the relatively high female suicide rate in China but, rather, suggest that gender-specific method choice and the case-fatality of different methods are more important determinants of the demographic profile of suicide rates. Further research that involves ongoing monitoring of the changing incidence, demographic profile and case-fatality of different suicidal methods in urban and rural parts of both LMICs and HICs is needed to confirm this hypothesis.

Although one feels reluctant to increase the volume of commentary on ‘My Kinsman, Major Molineux’, the work is so rich that it insists on being continuously re-interpreted. And there is one aspect of it in particular which seems to me not to have received adequate attention – namely, its relationship to Franklin's account in the Autobiography of his first arrival in Philadelphia. A few years ago Julian Smith pointed out several of the resemblances, and he convincingly demonstrated the likelihood that the one work had an influence on the other. But he did not go any further than this, and really only began to describe the nature of the relationship. For the most important thing about all of the similarities is that they are accompanied by very suggestive differences. And what I want to argue in this essay is that in writing ‘My Kinsman’ Hawthorne not only remembered Franklin's account of his arrival in Philadelphia, but also sought implicitly to criticize the vision of reality which is embodied in the Autobiography.

AbstractObjectiveThe aim of the research is to study whether any differences exist in the rates and characteristics of suicide by ethnicity and sex in South Tirol, Italy.MethodsPsychological autopsy interviews were conducted for suicides who died between March 1997 and July 2006.Results332 individuals belonging to the three major South Tirolean ethnic groups (Germans, Italians, Ladins [Ladin is a Rhaeto-Romance language related to the Venetian and Swiss Romansh languages]) died by suicide. Around 23% of the victims had experienced suicidal behaviour among family members, and more than 31% of them had experienced trauma during their childhood. Germans were 1.37 times more at risk to commit suicide than Italians (95% CI: 1.04/1.80; z = 2.26, p < .05). 69% of the suicides had attended school for less than 8 years: Germans (OR = 4.62; 95% CI: 2.52/8.47; p < .001) and Ladins (OR = 11.24; 95% CI: 2.99/42.30; p < .001) were more likely to have lower education than Italians. There were several differences by ethnicity and sex but no sex-by-ethnicity interactions.ConclusionsThe study indicated that suicide, an alarming health and social problem in South Tirol, may require different preventive interventions for men and women and for those of different ethnicities.

Research has found that people accept some suicides more than others. The present study examined whether attitudes toward a person's suicide are affected by the suicide's gender or marital status, and whether the suicide is a parent or childless. Respondents read one of eight fictitious suicide case stories, in which the above-mentioned variables were manipulated, and then completed the Suicide Attitudes and Attribution Scale (SAAS). It was found that female and male respondents differed in their attitudes toward a person's suicidal behavior to some degree. A parent's suicide was viewed more negatively than a suicide by a childless person. A tendency for respondents to express more respect for a suicide of their own gender was also detected. It is discussed whether differences in acceptance of suicide can be associated with actual suicide rates.

Suicide attempt is a deliberate act of self harm with at least some intent of die that does not result in death. Such act has a wide range of medical seriousness. Individuals with psychiatric disorders are far more likely to commit suicide than the others. People who are psychologically disabled are often commit suicide from years of pain, frustration and depression. Spiritually they may perceive themselves as hopelessly damaged and lose all sense of purpose and meaning of life. Suicide is not a diagnosis or a disorder. it is a behaviour. Suicide is a worldwide, national, local and familial problem. 90% of people who kill themselves suffer from a diagnosable and preventable problem such as depression co-occurring mental and substance use disorders are common and potent combination among those who die by suicide.

<div class="Section1"><p>Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji  pancasila dalam dimensi pendidikan Islam. falsafah Pancasila belum dijadikan primadona utama  dalam setiap diskusi pendidikan.  Pendekatan dalam peneltian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan. Lembaga-lembaga pendidikan belum begitu banyak memaknai Pancasila  bagian hal terpenting dan menjiwainya secara sadar. Apa yang digagas kemudian  adalah  bagaimana falsafah Pancasila   selayaknya dijadikan paradigma kritis dalam kondisi pendidikan saat ini. Hal yang demikian bisa jadi akan melahirkan sebuah pandangan yang genuine yang menawarkan sebuah gerakan dan kesadaran untuk menyelesaikan berbagai problem pendidikan. Perbedaan kondisi di bagian negara lain memberikan kita kesempatan menampilkan sebuah gagasan paradigma kritis pancasila.  Dalam kehidupan masyarakat  yang lebih luas Pancasila  yang menggema hanya sebatas nama kurang terlihat bentuknya seperti apa jika menjadi penawar obat kesembuhan pendidikan saat ini. Hasil dari studi ini menunjukkan bahwa posisi pancasila seharusnya memang mendapat ruang yang berarti, di satu sisi karena prinsip-prinsip Pancasila  terilhami dari Islam, disisi lain  Islam memberikan legitimasi yang kuat bagi terlaksananya prinsip Pancasila yang sejalan dengan landasan Islam.</p><p>Kata kunci: paradigma, kritis, Pancasila, pendidikan, Islam</p></div><p><em>CRITICAL PARADIGM  OF  PANCASILA IN THE DIMEN- SIONS OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION. This study aims to examine the Pancasila in the Islamic educational dimension.The philosophy of Pancasila  has not made a prima donna in any discussion  of education. This study  uses library research. Institutions  have not so many interpret Pancasila as the most important thing and make it as the spirit consciously. What was conceived then is how the philosophy of Pancasila should be made as a critical paradigm in the condition of education today. Such things could be going to deliver a view that offers a genuine movement  and awareness to resolve various problems in education. The difference of conditions in others countries gives us a chance to display a critical paradigm of Pancasila. In the life of the wider community, Pancasila that echoes only as the name. Its shape is less visible if it be the antidote to cure a disease of the current education. This is a book review of the book by Ben McKelvey (2020), Mosul: Australia’s Secret War Inside the ISIS Caliphate, Hachette Australia. Published by - Hachette Australia (Sydney, 2020) Format - Paperback ISBN - 978-0-7336-4541-9 339 pages Reviewed by John Battersby 'Mosul: Australia’s Secret War Inside the ISIS Caliphate' looks at parallel paths in the Al Qaeda (AQ) and ISIS inspired conflicts of the 2000s. On the one hand, it looks at those who were lured by AQ and ISIS propaganda into conceiving plots in Australia (a number were caught in the Pendennis operation), while another killed a civilian employee in October 2015 and several others left Australia to fight in Iraq and Syria in the period of ISIS’s ascendency. At the same time McKelvey relates the coinciding story lines of a number of Australian special forces personnel who were deployed to Afghanistan in 2001 and after 2003 (including the mid-2010s) to Iraq. Their exploits are detailed, the rationale for their deployment and operations is given, and light is shone on the consequences for those individuals personally. It is too often the fate of those who give their loyalty and commitment to their country, to discover that their country seldom reciprocates in equal measure. The inconsequential occasional mis-demeanours by highly disciplined servicemen that offend the sensibilities of their higher commanders were punished harshly, and the enormous personal and psychological toll that inevitably falls on individuals deployed to war-zones has not been adequately addressed by Australia. Service personnel surviving war zones to commit suicide when they come home is not an acceptable outcome of these deployments.

This article is a synopsis of a monograph which will be published shortly (in Hebrew) by the Harry Sacher Institute for Legislative Research and Comparative Law. I dedicate it to Professor Tedeschi because he was the one who triggered it ten years ago, with his suggestion that the study of law, and especially the study of contexts of discretion in the law, cannot be complete without detailed studies of the ways in which officers in practice use their powers. Custom thus has an easily overlooked importance as a source of law even in modern systems, in the many areas in which mere knowledge of the normative framework within which powers are exercised is insufficient for a knowledge and understanding of the law.Tedeschi's suggestion seemed correct on its face, to an extent sufficient to motivate me to leave theorizing about law from the armchair and look into the practice of law enforcement. I emerged from the adventure even more convinced of his insight than when I started.While working on the subject I realized that comparative analysis was also of relevance to such questions, and that important questions were raised about the utility of such analyses in attempts to solve one's problems. Again I have found that Tedeschi articulated the conclusion I have reached in an early article published years ago.So these insights of his were added to the many things for which I am indebted to Professor Tedeschi: the solid commitment to legal scholarship for which he has always stood; the varied, persistent and prolific interest he has in all things legal and in the life-problems which the law seeks to regulate, resulting in many essays which are to this day classic in their field; and the fact that he is among the rare scholars who practice what they preach. If we take the importance of custom as an example, Tedeschi insists on including sections on custom in all his articles on legal problems, and in many instances this combination of great analytical strength and attention to social reality is what makes Tedeschi's writings so important. It is rare to have such people as one's teachers, and I feel lucky and grateful to have been his student.The larger study on which this article is based elaborates in some detail these larger jurisprudential questions of the complex relationships between solutions of legal problems (or law reform) and legal theory, empirical research and comparative analysis. Here I shall confine myself to the major findings of my research into the reality and the ideal of the power of the Attorney-General to stay criminal proceedings.

A non-negligible number of elder citizens, who represent a growing fraction of the population in developed countries, have to face a number of daily-life problems stemming from their partial and progressive loss of motor, sensorial, and cognitive skills. That often makes it difficult or impossible to live autonomously and, in today’s small families, often forces elder hospitalization. Device miniaturization and ubiquitous connectivity can provide the technological support for valid alternatives to hospitalization, capable of reducing welfare costs, elder sense of loneliness, and elder exclusion from social relationships. On the one hand, wired and wireless sensors and actuators can improve elder life independence, for example, by transforming homes in smart eldercare environments with remote health-status monitoring, remote diagnostics, and facilitated house activities. On the other hand, pervasive wireless computing enables novel opportunities for caregivers, elders, and their family members, friends, and neighbors to collaborate and coordinate in an impromptu way to provide eldercare and social support anytime and anywhere. The chapter overviews the state-of-art of solutions for elder assistance, typically at home, and for coordinated-care networking by pointing out the need for advanced context-aware frameworks to properly establish ubiquitous and spontaneous communities of helpers when needed.
