Problems related to research on the organization, management, economics and technology in the construction industry in Poland are discussed and evaluated in this paper. Scientific and, more specifically, academic circles are characterised and alarming phenomena that accompany practicing the issues of organization and management in construction engineering are discussed: an increase of the number of employees with economic education, phenomena related to finance, staff feminization and fluctuations among other things. Trends observed in research works and changes in the subject matter of interest to participants at scientific conferences are pointed out. Publication activity, dissertations and international cooperation are discussed. Non-serial publications of the last three years are listed. The analysis is based on a questionnaire circulated by the Construction Management Section of the Civil Engineering Committee of the Polish Academy of Science, the members of which are the authors of this article. The questionnaire covered a period of ten years. Furthermore, proceedings from conferences organized domestically under the patronage of the said Section as well as the effect of a trilateral international cooperation between Lithuania, Germany and Poland have been used.

Purpose The state of the different practices in construction industry determines its performance level. Hence, improving performance of construction industry needs assessing state of the practices in the industry and devising improvement intervention. The purpose of this paper is to measure improvement requirement level of different construction management practice areas and to identify the underlying improvement dimensions in Ethiopian construction industry. Design/methodology/approach Questionnaire survey was developed for data collection based on a thorough literature review which yielded 28 construction management practice areas. Purposive sampling method was used to select respondents for the survey. Mean score was used to identify the required improvement level, and one sample T-test was carried out to identify significance of improvement requirement. Factor analysis was conducted to identify the underlying dimensions of the construction management practice areas. Findings Findings indicate 27 areas need significant improvement. This shows the low level of adoption of good construction management practices in Ethiopian construction industry. Factor analysis resulted in the areas being grouped to four broad improvement dimensions, namely, project management, organization management, knowledge and risk management and project development and contract management. Originality/value The findings provide information for appropriate action by the stakeholders to raise standards of adopted construction management practices. It also show areas of construction management which require more focused research in the context of Ethiopian construction industry. Considering the similarity of nature of construction industry problems in developing countries, the findings can be extended to similar countries.

With the continuous development of the socialist market economy, the construction industry has achieved rapid development and has good development prospects. However, the construction industry has experienced the transformation of China’s economic system from planned economy to market economy, and traditional management in construction engineering enterprises. The model has been unable to adapt to the new situation of the development of the construction industry, but it has limited the development of the enterprise to a certain extent. As an important part of enterprise management, engineering project construction management needs to realize the innovation of management mode to adapt to the current development situation. Starting from the necessity of construction engineering innovation, the basic principles of project management innovation are expounded, and an effective way of project construction management innovation is proposed.

Globalization is the study of dramatic global changes and their consequences in different fields of economy, technology and communications during the past two to three decades. Similar to other industry sectors or professional practices, globalization has enabled the construction industry to take advantage of cross-border markets and benefit from the opportunities that the globalized economy has provided. Advances in transportation, data sharing and communication have given construction professionals and the labor force unprecedented access to markets that were previously insulated. As the political borders have turned to be increasingly irrelevant and the national economies have become more interdependent, the socio-cultural differences are hence accentuated and further exposed due to historically-existing dissimilarities in societal cultures and business norms. In this paper, the main goal is to understand the globalization and its implications for the world economy specifically focusing on the construction industry. This paper studies the impacts of globalization in construction engineering and management profession and further investigates on the opportunities and threats that a globalized economy and more-synchronized business practices will bring for industry and how Construction Engineering educators shall successfully address those unprecedented issues in teaching Construction Engineering Management courses to the next generation of the industry leaders.

Academics and practitioners have paid close attention to front-end planning research, especially in the construction industry. It is known with many acronyms including pre-project planning and front-end loading. Since 1994, Construction Industry Institute (CII) has set front-end planning as one of themain research topicareas in their knowledge structure. A lot of research related to front-end planning and project scope definition has been conductedsince then. However, there lacks a comprehensive review of the currentstudies on the topic. Thus, the objective of this research was to undertake a comprehensive literature review of papers related to front-end planning. Reviewing 83 selected papers, this research raises several important issues regarding front-end planning such as the position of front-end planning in project life cycle, the differentiation between front-end planning and project planning, the significance of front-end planning, the front-end planning organization management, the front-end planning phases, the challenges in front-end planning implementation, and the identification of research gaps in front-end planning. The findings of this research contribute to furtherunderstanding of front-end planning andwould be useful for practitioners and academics to conduct further empirical studies on the subject matter.

In this paper, the singularities of using information technologies in organization and management of agriculture construction are considered. The main components of information technologies in investment projects are very important for agriculture construction. The most important computer programs for comparative analysis of investment projects are considered. Also, the complex decisions integrating all the parts of construction design for agriculture buildings are described. The purpose of theresearchisestimationofpossibilityofusinginformationtechnologiesin construction, allowing maximally automatizing design and calculation works.Forcarryingout thestud, ythemethodicalandscientificliteratureon the subject was analyzed, and also the statistic methods of data investigation were used considering the use of information technologies in different construction companies. The main result of the research is comparative analysisofmoderninformationtechnologiesinorganizationofconstruction and estimation of their effectiveness.

In recent years, the construction industry has been searching for intra-industry development methods, developing new technologies as well as introducing new equipment and environment-friendly materials, etc., and the arising of green buildings has brought new opportunities to the development of construction industry. Therefore, this study was designed to analyze the engineering management system of green buildings, as well as explore the development mode, engineering design evaluation and construction management methods in the management of green buildings. The development of construction engineering is connected with the multiple relations among the government, developers and consumers. The government restrains behaviors of developers through policy control, thus to promote development activities. However, market promotion should be based on consumers’ demand and purchase intension. Therefore, according to the game analysis between the government and developers, this study discussed the development management mechanism of construction engineering; combining with the development status of Chinese construction industry, four kinds of designing schemes of construction engineering were established, and the optimal scheme was selected according to the evaluation criteria of engineering construction products, thus to lower the construction costs; finally, based on the static game analysis of incomplete information of contractors, the choice mechanism of green construction contractors was put forward.

Description. The purpose of the article is to identify the subject of crimes related to the violation of confidentiality of telephone conversations transmitted by means of communication or through a computer, to qualify the criminal activity properly and to distinguish them from other crimes and misdemeanors. The purpose of the article also covers the issues of the principles of criminal law, which can solve the problems of formulating certain rules of the law on criminal liability, designed to protect the constitutional rights and freedoms of an individual. Methodology. In the course of the study general and special methods of the legal science were used: comparative and legal method; formal and dogmatic method; dialectical method; statistical method. The results of the study made it possible to identify the areas for improving the principles of criminal law for breach of confidentiality of correspondence, telephone, telegraph or other kinds of correspondence transmitted by means of communication or through the computer, and the areas of international cooperation in this area. Practical implications. According to the results of the research, some proposals were made for a more precise formulation of the characteristics of the object as well as the elements of the objective element of the crime under consideration. Value / originality. Based on the authors’ approach to identifying the subject matter of a crime, which involves liability for violation of confidentiality of correspondence, telephone conversations, telegraph or other correspondence transmitted by means of communication or through a computer, it was determined what features of the subject matter of the crime in question should be recorded in laws and what principles of criminal law can solve the task set by the study.
