This chapter develops a transaction cost theoretic model of network effects and applies it to assessing the chances of users to influence, through collective action, the range of technological choices available to them on IT markets. The theoretical basis of the model is formulated through a number of empirically refutable propositions that overcome some conceptual and empirical difficulties encountered by the traditional interpretation of network effects as (positive) network externalities. The main difference between our model and modeling network effects as network externalities is that network effects are seen as caused by the costs of purchasing and marketing new technology, that is, transaction costs, rather than by the benefits of using a new technology. A first application of the model suggests that users can significantly improve the chances of replacing an established technology with a new, potentially superior one if they set up an organizational structure that serves as a conduit of information exchange and knowledge sharing. This, however, would call for a rather different type of collective user action than exists today in the form of user groups.

UNSTRUCTURED The retrospective study of Taylor's three-dimensional external fixator for the treatment of tibiofibular fractures provides a theoretical basis for the application of this technology. The paper collected 28 patients with tibiofibular fractures from the Department of Orthopaedics in our hospital from March 2015 to June 2018. After the treatment, the follow-up evaluation of Taylor's three-dimensional external fixator for the treatment of tibiofibular fractures and concurrency the incidence of the disease, as well as the efficacy and occurrence of the internal fixation of the treatment of tibial fractures in our hospital. The results showed that Taylor's three-dimensional external fixator was superior to orthopaedics in the treatment of tibiofibular fractures in terms of efficacy and complications. To this end, the thesis research can be concluded as follows: Taylor three-dimensional external fixation in the treatment of tibiofibular fractures is more effective, and the incidence of occurrence is low, is a new technology for the treatment of tibiofibular fractures, it is worthy of clinical promotion.

AbstractWe study hours worked by drivers in the peer-to-peer transportation sector with cross-side network effects. Medallion lease (regulated market), commission-based (Uber-like pay) and profit-sharing (“pure” taxi coop) compensation schemes are compared. Our static model shows that network externalities matter, depending on the number of active drivers. When the number of drivers is limited, in the presence of positive network effects, a regulated system always induces more hours worked, while the commission fee influences the comparative incentives towards working time of Uber-like pay versus profit-sharing. When the number of drivers is infinite (or close to it), the influence of network externalities on optimal working time vanishes. Our model helps identifying which is the pay scheme that best remunerates longer working times and offers insights to regulators seeking to improve the intensive margin of coverage by taxi services.

Barcodes and barcode scanners transformed the grocery industry in the 1970s. I use store-level data from the 1972, 1977, and 1982 Census of Retail Trade, matched to data on store scanner installations, to estimate scanners' effect on labor productivity. I find that scanners increased a store's labor productivity, on average, by approximately 4.5 percent in the first few years. The effect was larger in stores carrying more packaged products, consistent with the presence of network externalities. Short-run gains were small relative to fixed costs, suggesting that the impediment to widespread adoption of the new technology was profitability, not coordination problems. In this paper, the precise 3D model of the wind power increasing gear was set up by based on the parametric designing method of Pro/Program, then the contact strength of the gear was analyzed by the FEM and the Hertz theoretical value was calculated, the FEM and the Hertz results were contrasted in order to confirm the applicability of the numerical analysis in wind power gear contact analysis. Finally, the corresponding analysis conclusion was received. The researching results offered a effective theoretical basis for the optimization design and analysis of the wind increasing gear.

In lifting, remoted operated dive vehicle(ROV) may swing with the effect of wave. Based on the general form of Lagrange’s equation, a 3-DOF nonlinear swing motion kinematic model was set up. The kinematic response was studied using methods of numerical simulation. The results demonstrated that the kinematic response depends on the length of cable, lifting speed and excitation frequency. Conclusions drawn from this work can be used for safety assessment and theoretical basis for lifting ROV.

The article discusses a new technology in the field of administration – a method of data-based management. In the field of education, analytics is the necessary manager’s competence to fulfill his work duties. The author identified the problem of transforming legal norms when working with open data, which did not affect the change in institutional and cultural norms of “data- based management” in managerial decision-making practice. The article provides a comparative analysis of the professional standards’ requirements and educational programs for the managerial personnel’s professional development in the field of education. The author analyzed two aspects of the development of a data-based management system: personnel – the development of educational programs for training managerial specialists who can use such technology, and infrastructure – the development of digital open data services and digital data processing services for making managerial decisions. The tasks of developing education through the analysis of data for assessing its quality are reflected in the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On national goals and strategic objectives for the development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024” and can be implemented based on the professional capital of managers using tools for analyzing such data. It is necessary to improve the interaction of electronic information exchange services for more effective information interaction and the construction of analytical reporting. This will allow for the efficient integration of data from different information systems and electronic resources and obtain the necessary data of the information of interest.

Rehabilitation robots are a new technology dedicated to the physiotherapy and assistance motion and has aroused great interest in the scientific community. These kinds of robots have shown a high potential in limiting the patient’s disability, increasing its functional movements and helping him/her in daily living activities. This technology is still an emerging area and suffers from many challenges like compliance control and human–robot collaboration. The main challenge addressed in this research is to ensure that the exoskeleton robot provides an appropriate compliance control that allows it to interact perfectly with humans. This article investigates a new compliant control based on a second-order sliding mode with adaptive-gain incorporating time delay estimation. The control uses human inverse kinematics to complete active rehabilitation protocols for an exoskeleton robot with unknown dynamics and unforeseen disturbances. The stability analysis is formulated and demonstrated based on Lyapunov function. An experimental physiotherapy session with three healthy subjects was set up to test the effectiveness of the proposed control, using virtual reality environment.

Creativity has been assigned to the design or drawing, with materials most often being specified as a result of design rather than being considered a driver of it. Designers empowered by new technology now consider form as it is defined by identifiable systems. This evidence based, parametric methodology is a response to two decades of digitally-derived projects, often produced simply for their novelty. The best work results when the architect has combined respect for the old with a skilled progressive command of the new. Material culture is portrayed as the physical confirmation and articulation of a culture in its relics and design. In the time that we comprehend the thought of material culture not just as having importance for investigations of the past. yet in addition getting a projective limit. we may now be at a critical defining moment.. As computation starts to significantly change our origination of the material, so in architecture this will defy the set up connection between the procedures of design and the physical fabrication of the constructed medium . Obviously, computation was brought into design & architecture the greater part a century back. furthermore, expanding digitization has since plagued all parts of the field . As though, it has remained emphatically impacted by the theoretical isolation of the procedures of design and making that has overwhelmed structural plan thinking since the Renaissance, and it is just now that creators are starting to deal with the computational void as never again disconnecting from the physical domain.
