Considering the Role of E-government in Cybercrime Awareness and Prevention

Cybercrime has exponentially increased in recent years as an unavoidable byproduct of greater internet use, generally, and presents a wide range of criminal threats to large companies and individuals alike. While cyber offenses (e.g., cyberharassment, cyberstalking, identity theft, and intellectual property theft) and their address have been examined across diverse academic disciplines including criminology, electrical engineering, sociology, and computer science, minimal consideration has been given to the role of e-government in combating cybercrime – a somewhat ironic oversight given the computerized context of both. After reviewing the nature of cybercrime, this chapter considers e-government policies addressing cybercrime awareness, prevention, and victimization services. Discussion centers on the prospects for cybercrime theoretical research program development toward best practices public policy.

Since Flinders Petrie, the importance of Western Asia to the history and development of culture in ancient Egypt has been recognized by scholars and has also been a significant driver in shaping Egyptological methodology and theoretical approaches. The study of relations between Western Asia and Egypt encompasses a wide range of specialisms given the broad range of evidence, the geographical breadth, and the academic disciplines involved. This chapter reviews the history of the study of relations between Western Asia and Egypt pointing to a selection of challenges scholars face in undertaking their research, and examines two case studies: theories concerning the role of Western Asia in the rise of the state, and the assessment of Egypt’s New Kingdom Empire in Canaan to illustrate the ways in which scholarly challenges are met and the resulting historical conclusions.

The causal attributions and dimensions and the academic self-efficacy permeated by the affectivity are fundamental for the school achievement of the undergraduate student. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between affectivity and academic self-efficacy of 115 students (39 from the Computer Science course, 41 from the Civil Engineering course and 35 from the Electrical Engineering course of the Federal University of Mato Grosso). A questionnaire with 10 questions was made using the Likert scale, where the first two questions assessed the interference of the previous contents on the learning of mathematical contents, three evaluated the level of student's academic self-efficacy, the other two assessed some origins of the beliefs of the student's academic self-efficacy, the last question evaluated the relationship between effort and academic self-efficacy, and questions 4 and 5, the focus of this research, directly assessed the relationship between affectivity and academic self-efficacy. The results pointed to a protagonist role of affectivity in relation to academic self-efficacy and a confirmation that the effort continues to be the highlight for students' belief in academic self-efficacy.

As robotic systems evolve and get more sophisticated, expectations of them to accomplish high-level tasks increase gradually and their motion planning becomes more complex and difficult. The motion planning problem has been studied for more than four decades from different aspects such that presently has a vast literature. This paper investigates different components of the robot motion planning (RMP) problem and presents a new comprehensive taxonomy for a wide range of RMP problems. The taxonomy is based on a survey of the literature on RMP problems and applications in robotics and computer science.

The main stages of the history of the department of social and humanitarian disciplines are briefly sanctified, its long-term experience is analyzed through the prism of teaching and educational activities. Attention is drawn to the role of social and humanitarian disciplines in the process of forming general and universal competencies of a modern specialist. Soft skills have a fairly wide range: linguistic, social, entrepreneurial, communicative, life cognitive and informational, etc.The ways of formation of these competence components in students in the study of the disciplines of the humanitarian cycle are analyzed. It is noted that all academic disciplines that are taught at the department have and successfully embody the educational component. The author analyzes the activities that contribute to the implementation of national-patriotic, spiritual, legal, moral and other types of education in a modern university both during classes and outside the classroom.Emphasis is placed on cooperation with the Center for Military-Patriotic Education of KNUSA, in particular, the implementation of the principle of historical and social memory. The Gender Education Center complements the educational process with coverage of gender issues. Relevant aspects of the education of modern students, which the department embodies by holding round tables by the Student Scientific Society of the Clio Department, conversations in dormitories and informing during classrooms, is the coverage of the process of European integration, the importance of countering racism, xenophobia and extremism. The necessity of the institution of curators-mentors in educational work with students is emphasized. Throughout its history, the educational component of the work of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines has remained unchanged – the formation of eternal human values, a worthy person and citizen of Ukraine.

Effective application of distance technologies, even at the level of individual courses in most universities is faced with a number of organizational, methodological problems. The final design of the regulatory framework the problem of implementation of these technologies in the field of theoretical research and experimental work in the practical implementation of the plane. The authors consider a wide range of problems arising from the mass introduction of e-learning in educational practice, their classification on various grounds. When the authors of the work are based on practical experience in the development of the course Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science for students training areas Teacher Education profiles Informatics and Computer Science and Foreign Language on the basis of a learning management system Moodle. Also studied a number of aspects related to the characteristics of the studied subject area (in Mathematics example of educational area). We formulate the necessary conditions for effective use of e-learning technologies. These conditions, from the point of view of the authors, speakers, among others participated in the implementation of the university administration, the formation of a uniform by the level of the basic mathematical training a group of students, the formation of a thesaurus (semantic web) course in the classroom working with students, as well as a phased approach to solving complex text assignments, requiring the construction of a formal mathematical model in the subject area. We offer some simple criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of (increased performance and students' motivation, optimization of time working teachers, reducing the number of chronic debtors in the discipline).

This chapter examines the role of evidence in public policy. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are often thought to provide the most rigorous way of establishing causal claims. On this basis it has been claimed that what public policy requires is a solid evidence base of RCTs, which are then synthesized into an account of ‘what works’. The chapter argues that this is mistaken. Even if it can be shown with confidence that an intervention had a particular size of effect within a trial population at a particular time, this does not show that the intervention will work in a wide range of contexts, or in a policymaker’s particular context. A number of factors, including the greater difficulty of controlling for confounding factors, and the greater variability in causal networks, make evidence less likely to travel in public policy than in clinical medicine.

Abuse of right is one of the most complex phenomena in legal science, the study of which requires the use of a wide range of methods of cognition, both general scientific and private law. The author of the article makes a generic analysis of the concept “abuse of right”, disclosing the history of its appearance and development. However, special attention is paid to the discussion of scientists about the essence of abuse of right, in which, as in a “multi-layered cake”, more and more narrow subjects of the discussion are layered, but at the same time, they are all permeated with a common goal – to determine the place and role of the phenomenon in the modern legal order. Historically, the first debate arose on the validity of the very concept of abuse of right, caused by a combination of two words that were opposite in meaning: “right” and “abuse”. This discussion has been going on for more than a century and takes place both in Russian civil law and in foreign legal doctrine. There is also no consensus among supporters of the concept of abuse of right: some attribute abuse of right to a variety of lawful behavior, others call it an offense. This problem is currently urgent and complex. Finally, there are disagreements about the branch of abuse of law: is this concept inter-branch in nature or is it exclusively inherent in the civil law branch? As a result of comparing all points of view, the author in each of the above discussions reasonably takes this or that position. As a result, a complete understanding of the phenomenon under study is formed.

Abstract After World War II, under the aegis of globalism, transparency norms have gradually been endorsed and adopted by major organizations involved in the international economy. Many scholars have highlighted the role of international organizations as vehicles for policy reform in developing countries through a wide range of commitments related to domestic public policy. Nevertheless, the impact of international integration on transitional process toward transparency and accountability in some Asian developing states remains doubtable due to “transparency policy dilemma.” This paper aims to demonstrate this dilemma by examining the case of Vietnam to shed more light on the legislative phenomenon existing in some regimes.
