This chapter intends to contribute to the analysis of gender diversity and financial risk through a bibliometric review of the existent literature to understand the current state of financial risk research as well as to contribute to the analysis of the influence of gender diversity on financial risk. Although there is extensive research on financial risk, no recent study tries to update the current state of the research over the influence of gender on financial risk practices. This chapter describes the evolutional research studies published in the digital library Scopus, between 2010 and June 2021, and compares the results obtained in evolutionary terms. When the research is concentrated on the bibliometric analysis in the Scopus database and the keyword “financial risk,” it leads to a total of 15,979 documents. Regarding the analysis concentrated on the keywords “gender diversity” and “financial risk” for the period between 2010 and June 2021, the authors end with a final sample of 96 documents. Proposals for further research are provided based on the current state of the art.

The new Coronavirus (namely Covid-19) discovered in 2019 in Wuhan has sickened more than three million people in worldwide. Because Covid-19 is spreading so fast and killing so many people, it has encouraged researchers to conduct research and publish it in various mass media, including journals. This study aims to analyze the scope of Covid-19 research using a bibliometric review. To obtain information about Covid-19 studies, the Scopus database was used. Topic areas with titles, keywords, and abstract criteria in Covid-19 studies were used as a reference for extracting search results. Search result extraction was done using VOSviewer. After that, the results of bibliometric mapping were analyzed further. A total of 3,513 articles were found in the Scopus database accessed on April 25, 2020. There was a significant increase in the number of publications on Covid-19 from 2019 to 2020. Among all countries, China contributed the most publications. Meanwhile, the keywords coronavirus, pandemic, and impact turned out to be the area's most widely discussed. Through VOSViewer we analyzed how many articles have been published about Covid-19 and its relationships to a topic area. This review certainly can provide a reference point for further research related to the Covid-19 outbreak.

In the Industry 4.0 era, digital tools applied to production and manufacturing activities represent a challenge for companies. Digital Twin (DT) technology is based on the integration of different “traditional” tools, such as simulation modeling and sensors, and is aimed at increasing process performance. In DTs, simulation modeling allows for the building of a digital copy of real processes, which is dynamically updated through data derived from smart objects based on sensor technologies. The use of DT within manufacturing activities is constantly increasing, as DTs are being applied in different areas, from the design phase to the operational ones. This study aims to analyze existing fields of applications of DTs for supporting safety management processes in order to evaluate the current state of the art. A bibliometric review was carried out through VOSviewer to evaluate studies and applications of DTs in the engineering and computer science areas and to identify research clusters and future trends. Next, a bibliometric and systematic review was carried out to deepen the relation between the DT approach and safety issues. The findings highlight that in recent years, DT applications have been tested and developed to support operators during normal and emergency conditions and to enhance their abilities to control safety levels.

In order to gain a comprehensive view of electric vehicles (EVs) technologies and understand the emphasis of current research, this study evaluated the most relevant themes related to EVs through a bibliometric analysis using the keyword “electric vehicle” as the input. The Web of ScienceTM (WoS) database was used because it is considered ideal for bibliometric analysis. The VOSviewer software was adopted as a bibliometric analysis tool to visualize the networks of authors, countries, journals and keywords. The analysis carried out on 9 November 2021 retrieved a total of 29,304 documents in the period 2000 to 2021. The results show that in the last nine years the number of publications about EVs has grown significantly. The China is the leading nation in the field of EV research, contributing the largest number of publications in the world, with the main authors and research institutions involved. The journal Energies stands out as the main publishing periodical. Keyword analysis showed that studies on EVs in the last two decades have focused on themes related to energy management and storage, infrastructure and charging systems and environmental issues. The bibliometric analysis presented provides relevant information on the main themes studied about EVs and technological advances in development.

Non-timber forest products (NTFPs) are a consolidated source of income and acquisition of inputs from forest environments. Therefore, the objective of this work was to carry out a collection of publications on NTFPs in Brazil, until 2019, available in the Scopus database, presenting a bibliometric review and the state of the art of this theme from the evaluation of these publications, discussing the challenges of Brazilian legislation on NTFPs. After screening the articles of interest, 196 documents were evaluated, in which they were observed institutions and authors, analyzing networks of citations and terms used, areas of forest sciences and sciences that encompass the most explored biomes and the most studied species. The results showed that the concern to research on NTFPs in Brazil began in the 1990s, with an increase in the number of publications over the years. Besides that, the research on NTFPs is multidisciplinary, with emphasis on the areas of Agricultural and Biological Sciences and Environmental Science. For better regulation of the process of exploration and management of NTFPs in Brazil, the need to create specific legislation that takes into account factors such as the phytogeographic domain the explored area, producing species, and the products and co-products obtained was observed.

Over the years, the importance and role of Big Data have grown considerably. Accountants’ work requires sound judgement and decision making, which makes their activities less conducive to automation. Nonetheless, it is useful for accountants to be at ease with the use of data analysis, especially when data are unstructured and relevant to decision making. This study aimed to visualize the research panorama on the theme “Big Data and accounting” to appreciate the current state of knowledge in this field. Bibliometric analysis was used to study literature on the topic of Big Data and accounting. The data were collected using the Scopus database to ascertain the authors, countries, keywords and journals that have contributed the most to this body of knowledge. VOSviewer software was used for data visualization. Through a visual analysis, the results reveal the current state of knowledge on the theme of Big Data and accounting, with significant implications for future works in this field. The findings also highlight the potential opportunities for future studies on this topic and on peripheral themes. Keywords: Big data, accounting, bibliometric analysis, digital accounting, research agenda.

This chapter intends to contribute to the analysis of the influence of corporate governance (CG) practices on company financial risk (FR) to understand the current state of CG and FR research. Although there is extensive research on CG and FR, to the best of the authors' knowledge, no recent study tries to update the current state of the research over the influence of CG practices on FR. To do so, the authors will conduct a bibliometric analysis focused on financial risk and CG studies resorting to different online available libraries. The study describes the evolutional research studies published in the digital libraries Scopus and Web of Science between 2010 and 2020 and compares the results obtained in evolutionary terms. The study ends up concentrating the bibliometric analysis in the Scopus and Web of Science databases and the keyword “financial risk,” leading to a total of 14,942 and 3,760 documents, respectively.

Business complexity demands that companies look for alternative ways to ensure their survival. Thus, one means to generate a competitive position, growth and development is intrapreneurship, which refers to entrepreneurship that arises within established organizations. However, current studies of the phenomenon are sometimes limited to contributions that lack substantive theory. Given this problem, the objective of this study was to determine the current state of the art of intrapreneurship based on a documentary analysis. Similarly, a bibliometric analysis was carried out that evaluated the existing publications. A total of 133 documents related to the term were found. After analyzing these documents, we concluded that new studies on the matter need to be developed. Therefore, a future agenda is proposed and the implications of this phenomenon on the performance of current companies are discussed.
