The paper gives a systemic classification to the common electric vehicle (EV). The technology of low power converter using as auxiliary power supply and high power converter using for traction system has been deeply discussed from the view of topology, control strategy and devices. Finally, the development tendency of on board DC conversion technology is prospected.

Typical application of bidirectional DC/DC power converter exists in hybrid cars. Recently, a similar approach has been applied in hybrid propelled ships as well. In this paper, a novel low power bidirectional DC/DC power converter of standard Buck/Boost topology has ben designed in order to explore possibilities of the high power design in maritime applications. In order to discover critical points of a design, thermal imaging has been investigated. The results clearly indicate that the proposed solution is more cost effective than a typical standard bidirectional DC/DC power converter. Likewise, the improvement in maneuvering of the propelled vessel system with two and more electric drives has been investigated and compared to a classical diesel, single engine propulsion system.

For the existence of a large input current harmonic content and the problem of low power factor, we propose an idea using APFC technical to design high power factor switching power supply to deal with it, meanwhile, the design process of APFC circuit parameters of the various components is given. Finally, the design proved to be correct and feasible by the simulation with Saber.

In this work, we investigated the photovoltaic characteristics of high-power IR LEDs manufactured by OSRAM GmbH based on structures with two vertically stacked p-n junctions. The spectral range of operation of PVTs based on LEDs with different radiation wavelengths was determined, and it was shown that the efficiency of photovoltaic conversion in them reaches more than 30% at a wavelength of 808 nm. The high (up to 2.6 V) output voltage of such converters allows them to be used for direct power supply of low-power electronic devices with optical radiation.

For the electric vehicle motor controller driver section requirements of the multiple isolated power supply problems, analyzed the common DC/DC converter, the single-ended flyback converter was selected as the motor controller auxiliary power supply. Taking into account the parasitic parameters of the high frequency transformer and switch transistor effects on the circuit, the loss model was showed. Its feasibility is verified by experiments. Experimental results showed that the designed RCD clamp circuit switch could effectively reduce stress and meet the requirements of the motor controller.
