The purpose of this study is to evaluate the flexural behavior of hybrid high performance RC beams with web openings (Hy-HPRWO) that are constructed by using circle steel tube, hybrid fibers and Garnet, Fly-ash. One regular RC beam with openings (HPRC) and four Hy-HPRWO specimens were manufactured and tested under monotonic loading. It was evaluated by flexural experiment of Hy-HPRWO through comparison of failure mode, load-deflection curves, ductility and ultimate load (Vu). Test results showed that the ultimate load of the Hy-FPSC3 specimens were approximately 5.82% better than that of the HPRC, in addition their ductility behavior was 68.1% better than the HPRC.

Three reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened by high-performance ferrocement and two control specimens without strengthened are investigated when RC beams have low compressive strength. Flexural behaviors of strengthened RC beams with high-performance ferrocement are evaluated based on comparative analysis with RC beams. The strengthening results of steel meshes with U-shape (i.e. ferrocements are put onto the tension face and two profile faces) are analyzed. The flexural capacity, deflection and crack width of RC flexural beams are measured, and then comparative analysis is carried out for deformation performance and law of crack development. The test results show that ferrocement contributes greatly to increase the flexural capacity and raise crack-resisting capacity. The experimental results can provide a theoretical reference for actual engineering designs.

Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) is a revolutionary breakthrough in the history of structural engineering innovation due to its unique characteristics to strengthen and repair the deficient reinforced concrete structures. This paper aimed at evaluating the flexural characteristics of jute fiber reinforced polymer (JFRP) bonded reinforced concrete beams. The influence of the test variables comprised of strengthening scheme and corrosion rate for reinforced concrete (RC) beams. The experimental study comprised of casting six RC beams and testing them in flexure loading. To determine the flexural response of RC beams, three beams were fabricated with JFRP laminate having a level of corrosion of 0%, 7.5%, and 15%, whereas three beams were designated as control beams having same corrosion levels with no JFRP. Test results indicated that all JFRP strengthened beams exhibited increased ultimate load, yield load, first cracking load, and lower ductility index compared to control beams. The results also revealed that JFRP strengthening technique improved the flexural strength of the corroded beams efficiently, albeit the ultimate load of the beams diminished with higher corrosion level. Analytical calculations were carried out for quantifying the flexural characteristics and mass loss of beams which provided a good agreement with the test results.

Eleven approximate full-size specimens including nine eccentrically compressed columns of monotonic loading and two axially compressed columns of laterally cyclic loading were tested. By a series of comparison experiment of specimens strengthened by high performance ferrocement laminates (HPFL) and no strengthened specimens, it was found that the RC columns strengthened with attached HPFL demonstrated greater degree of improving in load-bearing capacity, in which the carrying capacity increment of the strengthened eccentrically compressed columns with lesser eccentricity was greater than that of the same type of columns with bigger eccentricity under the same strengthening conditions; the strengthening effects of the specimens with lower concrete grade are better than that of those ones with higher concrete grade; the ductility and energy dissipation ability of the strengthened columns were remarkably increased. In this paper, the test results is described, the principle and regularity that this category of strengthening laminate improved the ultimate load-bearing capacity, ductility, cracking behavior and mode of failure etc. of the RC columns are analyzed. The studying results proved that this strengthening measure for RC columns is superior to make the strengthening effect notable, working behavior of strengthened column excellent, strengthening construction easy and economical.

Based on the the self-developed prestressed CFRP plate anchorage, the test specimens comprised 5 RC beams strengthened with the way the external prestressed CFRP plates, the research on the different prestressed tension and different span beam about the influence of the bending capacity , ultimate bearing capacity, cross section strain, CFRP strain and deflection of the test reinforced beams on the research. The test results showed that: the externally prestressed CFRP plate can obviously increase of the flexural performance of RC beams, and improve the utilization rate of the strength of the CFRP plate, through the external prestressed anchor of CFRP plate for a tension, reducing the RC beams crack, and improving the ductility of the RC beams.

In order to explore the flexural behavior of CFRP reinforced pre-stressed concrete (PC) beams with initial cracks, 6 pre-tensioned beams were manufactured. Then the beams were pre-loaded to crack with 40% and 60% ultimate load respectively, and the beams were strengthened by CFRP under the conditions of load holding and fully unloaded. After that, the four-points bending tests were performed, and beam section strains, flexural capacities and cracks were analyzed. The results demonstrate that the ultimate load of CFRP reinforced beams increased by 10%~18%, and the ultimate loads of CFRP reinforced load holding beams were 3% and 6% lower than that of CFRP reinforced non-destructive beam, and the inhibiting effect of CFRP on cracks was weakened, the hysteresis strains should be considered for them. In this paper, the fiber hysteresis strains were calculated by the method of full section decompression moment, and the flexural capacities of CFRP reinforced PC beams were calculated, which are in good agreement with the test results.

This paper reports on an experimental study on the flexural behavior of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP)-concrete-steel double skin cantilever beams (referred to as DSTBs) that were tested under reversed cyclic loading. The beams were manufactured using a high-strength concrete (HSC) mix and they were 150 mm in diameter and 1.2 m in length. The main parameters of the experimental study included the size of the inner steel tube and the use of mechanical connectors in the form of steel rings welded on the inner steel tube. Test results indicate that DSTBs are capable of developing a highly ductile behavior under reversed cyclic lateral displacement excursions. It is found that the addition of mechanical connectors on the steel tube has no significant influence on the lateral displacement capacity of the test specimens, but they can eliminate the slippage between the concrete and inner steel tube. Examination of the test results has led to a number of significant conclusions on the influence of the beam parameters on the performance of DSTBs, which are discussed in the paper.

Six specimens, including 4 ceramsite concrete beams(one of beams mixed into the polypropylene fiber ) and 2 normal concrete beams, were tested to investigate the flexural behavior. The test results show that cracking load of ceramsite concrete beams is slightly smaller than the ordinary concrete beam and cracking load of ceramsite concrete beams has significantly improved after mixing into the polypropylene fibers. The ultimate load of ceramsite concrete beams are no less than ordinary concrete beam, and fibers have not effects on the increase of ultimate load. Load-deflection curves were compared, and the results show that stiffness of ceramsite concrete beam is less than ordinary concrete beam. Ductility of ceramsite concrete beam is poorer than ordinary concrete beam. Fibers improve the stiffness of ceramsite concrete beam. Cover thickness of concrete beam has little effect on the performance of ceramsite concrete beam.

The flexural behavior of concrete beams reinforced with CFRP-PCPs composite rebars was studied. Experimental results showed that the performance of CFRP-PCPs composite rebars beams is superior to that of CFRP beams at service and ultimate and comparable and even better than RC beams at service condition. Flexural cracks of concrete beams reinforced with CFRP-PCPs composite rebars are hairline before prism cracking, and they widen after the prism cracking Keywords: CFRP-PCPs, composite rebars, beam, flexural
