Model tests are performed to study the working properties of reinforced and non-reinforced gravel cushion on soft subsoil. The effects are analyzed of reinforced materials on the bearing characteristic of the cushion. The stress field and settlement field are studied through the method of numerical simulation. The results show that: The bearing capacity of foundation with cushion increases significantly when the cushion is reinforced. Under the same condition, the effect of geocell reinforcement is better than geogrid reinforcement. The value of coefficient of subgrade reaction increases when the cushion is reinforced. The reinforced materials can adjust the stress distribution and settlement distribution of the cushion.

Based on the geological conditions of 6# coal seam and 8# coal seam in Xieqiao Coal Mine, to determine reasonable entry layout of lower seam in multi-seam mining, alternate internal entry layout, alternate exterior entry layout and overlapping entry layout were put forward and simulated by FLAC3D. Then stress distribution and displacement characteristics of surrounding rock were analyzed in the three ways of entry layout, leading to the conclusion that alternate internal entry layout is a better choice for multi-seam mining, for which makes the entry located in stress reduce zone and reduces the influence of abutment pressure of upper coal seam mining to a certain extent,. And the mining practice of Xieqiao Coal Mine tested the results, which will offer a beneficial reference for entry layout with similar geological conditions in multi-seam mining.

This study used experimental and numerical simulation methods to discuss the attenuation mechanism of a blast inside a tunnel for different forms of a tunnel pressure reduction module under the condition of a tunnel near-field explosion. In terms of the experiment, a small-scale model was used for the explosion experiments of a tunnel pressure reduction module (expansion chamber, one-pressure relief orifice plate, double-pressure relief orifice plate). In the numerical simulation, the pressure transfer effect was evaluated using the ALE fluid–solid coupling and mapping technique. The findings showed that the pressure attenuation model changed the tunnel section to diffuse, reduce, or detour the pressure transfer, indicating the blast attenuation effect. In terms of the effect of blast attenuation, the double-pressure relief orifice plate was better than the one-pressure relief orifice plate, and the single-pressure relief orifice plate was better than the expansion chamber. The expansion chamber attenuated the blast by 30%, the one-pressure relief orifice plate attenuated the blast by 51%, and the double-pressure relief orifice plate attenuated the blast by 82%. The blast attenuation trend of the numerical simulation result generally matched that of the experimental result. The results of this study can provide a reference for future protective designs and reinforce the U.S. Force regulations.

In this paper, the finite method is applied and ABAQUS software is used, the vortex flow field is loaded as boundary condition of wraps. The stress and deformation in scroll under the action of gas pressure, temperature load and both of them is analyzed, the stress distribution and deformation of wraps in different shaft rotation angles is discussed, the stress distribution and deformation discipline of wraps are also respectively obtained. The results show that the overall stress and deformation in scroll are the largest when compression chamber is moving near the vent position and the thermal deformation is the main factor of affecting the overall deformation of scroll.

The plate’s mechanical behavior of three-roller plate bending machine had been analyzed in case of upper roller feeding based on ANSYS. Strain and stress distribution of the plate and its changes are gained. The influence of upper roller’s feeding location and bending velocity to bending process are researched. The results are valuable to bending process optimization and practical technique of plate bending.

Abstract To further investigate and improve the cleaning ability of the cavitation nozzle, this paper proposes a new model that is based on the Helmholtz nozzle and with the quadratic equation curve as the outer contour of the cavitation chamber. First, the numerical simulation of the flow field in the nozzle chamber was conducted using FLUENT software to analyze and compare the impact of the curve parameters and Reynolds number on the cleaning effect. Next, the flow field was captured by a high-speed camera in order to study the cavitation cycle and evolution process. Then, experiments were performed to compare the cleaning effect of the new nozzle with that of the Helmholtz nozzle. The study results demonstrate that effective cavitation does not occur when the diameter of the cavitation chamber is too large. For the new nozzle, with the increase of the Reynolds number, the degree of cavitation in the chamber first increases and then decreases; the cleaning effect is much better than that of a traditional Helmholtz nozzle under the same conditions; the nozzle has the best cleaning effect for the stand-off distance of 300 mm.

For improving the damage effect to underwater target of warhead, a kind of metamorphic tapered angle shaped charge is designed, and the damge mechanism is analyzed. The physics modle of tapered and spherical shaped charge under underwater explosion is built, numerical simulation is done by LS-DYNA, the stress distribution and velocity of jet are got. The result shows that the shaped charge jet formed by this kind of structure can provide moving space for latter EFP, which improving the damage effect to target.

Abstract Based on the study of leakage characteristics of labyrinth seal structure (LSS), a new type of combined seal structure (CSS) consisting of the labyrinth structure and the nozzle structure has been proposed. The sealing characteristics of CSS and LSS are compared by means of numerical simulation and experiments, and the effects of the internal resistance of the device, structural geometric parameters and other factors on the leakage characteristics of CSS are studied. The results illustrate the following conclusions: (a) When the inlet flow is 12 m3/h and the internal resistance of the device is 2000–4000 Pa, the leakage rate of CSS decreases by 30%–40% in comparison with that of LSS, which indicates that the performance of CSS is much better than that of LSS. (b) The leakage rate increases as the internal resistance of the device increases. When the internal resistance of the device increases from 2000 Pa to 8000 Pa, the leakage rate increases from 26% to 72%. (c) When the internal resistance of the device is constant, the larger the inlet flow, the smaller the leakage rate. (d) The choice of nozzle radius in structural geometric parameters is more important for the leakage rate than the tooth height and teeth numbers. When the nozzle radius decreases, ΔPAB (pressure difference between the labyrinth structure and the nozzle structure) and the leakage rate decrease accordingly.
