To prevent runway incursions, we should have the corresponding systematic prevent ideas. Based on the definition of runway incursions and classification of relevant criteria, it analyzed the runway incursion system, put forward the closed-loop management ideas to prevent runway incursions, and found the main contradictions of preventing runway incursions using the gray relational analysis. With the example of runway incursion dates of U.S.A, by means of Grey Relational Analysis of different severities and different factors for runway incursions, it have shown that the key factors leading to the class AB and class CD runway incursions are Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviations and Pilot Deviations respectively. Meanwhile, it proposed integrated prevention measures of runway incursions.

Multipath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP), a transport layer protocol, proposed by the IETF working group in 2009, can provide multipath communication end to end. It also can improve the utilization of network resources and network transmission reliability. However, that how to select multiple paths to improve the end to end overall throughput, and how to avoid the throughput declining by the performance difference, become the focus of this study. We propose a path selection strategy based on improved gray relational analysis, and set the optimal values of the QoS parameters for the selected paths as the reference sequence. According to the value of improved grey relational degree (IGRD) which is compared with reference sequence, we select the paths with better performance, smaller difference for transmission.

SUMMARYThis research focuses on the issue of dynamic modeling and controlling a robotic manipulator attached to a compliant base. Such a system is known under the name macro–micro system, characterized by the number of control actuators being less than the number of state variables. The equations of motion for a two-link planar elbow arm mounted on an oscillatory base has been presented in this investigation. In order to study the sensitivity of tuning the PID parameters to achieve the desired performance, the Grey relational analysis has first been proposed. Therefore, the aim of this work is to apply Grey theory to optimize parameters for partial states feedback of a PID controller for such a structure. The experimental results of the proposed methodology also show that it is technically and economically feasible to develop a low-cost, reliable, automatic, less time-consuming controller for robotics mounted on oscillatory bases.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to construct some negative grey relational analysis models to measure the relationship between reverse sequences.Design/methodology/approachThe definition of reverse sequence has been given at first based on analysis of relative position and change trend of sequences. Then, several different negative grey relational analysis models, such as the negative grey similarity relational analysis model, the negative grey absolute relational analysis model, the negative grey relative relational analysis model, the negative grey comprehensive relational analysis model and the negative Deng’s grey relational analysis model have been put forward based on the corresponding common grey relational analysis models. The properties of the new models have been studied.FindingsThe negative grey relational analysis models proposed in this paper can solve the problem of relationship measurement of reverse sequences effectively. All the new negative grey relational degree satisfying the requirements of normalization and reversibility.Practical implicationsThe proposed negative grey relational analysis models can be used to measure the relationship between reverse sequences. Sharing manufacturing is a new manufacturing mode based on sharing economy, which is one of the pillars of intelligent manufacturing. This paper proposes a two-sided matching model of shared manufacturing resources considering the psychological behavior of agents. We describe the definition of two-sided matching and introduce the concept of the cloud model. The preference information of agents is transformed to values according to the cloud model. We combine prospect theory and grey relational analysis to calculate the prospect values. Furthermore, an optimization model which aims to maximize the overall satisfaction degree of matching agents is established. A numerical example for the matching of providers and demanders is provided to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.

An oil spill from a vessel is a critical maritime accident that can severely damage the environment. In this study; we utilize the basic construction of grey relational analysis to explore oil spill events statistics from 1974 to 2015 and successfully analyze the causes of incidents in 2016. The results illustrate that grey relational analysis effectively identifies the factors causing oil spills with an accuracy of over 96%. The research is aimed to reduce the marine accidents and predict the cause of oil spill in advance. The analysis is dealing with the incidents to approach the circumstance in various intensity of oil spill in the last 40 years. Moreover, an application of grey theory demonstrates accurate and reliable methodology to decision maker. Thus, the investigation can predict the causes of pollution from oil spill accidents in the future.

Based on the full consideration of the structure and coordination in the service supply chain, an evaluation system focusing on evaluating the logistics service supply chain performance was set up. In this paper we introduce the grey theory into the evaluation system and construct an evaluation model based on grey relational analysis method. The example shows that the grey relational analysis can whiten the unascertained relationship between the evaluation factors effectively, reduce the influence of subjective factors, and improve the accuracy of the evaluation.

For the nine characteristic factors of tobacco leaf grading standards have different degree of influence on final grading results and lack of objective evaluation method, in this paper, we applied the gray relational analysis method to determine the weight of tobacco leaf factors in every grade, which calculate the gray relational analysis of nine characteristic factors: such as hue, lightness value, chroma, length, leaf structure, waste, oil, maturity and body. The gray relation was normalized to get the weight of the nine factors in tobacco leaf classification. By contrasted with the subjective evaluation of five experts in tobacco field, the calculation results are basically consistent with the experts’ recommendation. It illustrates that the application of Grey relational method to calculate influence ability of flue-cured tobacco grading factors is feasible. This method eliminates the subjectivity of the weight of each factor and can make the results more realistic.

Grey theory is an essential uncertain knowledge acquisition method for small sample, poor information. The classic grey theory does not adequately take into account the distribution of data set and lacks the effective methods to analyze and mine big sample in multigranularity. In view of the universality of the normal distribution, the normality grey number is proposed. Then, the corresponding definition and calculation method of the relational degree between the normality grey numbers are constructed. On this basis, the grey relational analytical method in multigranularity is put forward to realize the automatic clustering in the specified granularity without any experience knowledge. Finally, experiments fully prove that it is an effective knowledge acquisition method for big data or multigranularity sample.

The objective of this analysis is to determine optimum parameters for maximum performance and minimum emission for biodiesel-fueled diesel engine. The experiments were designed using Taguchi L25 orthogonal array. Five parameters—fuel blend, load, speed, injection timing, and injection pressure—each with five levels were selected. Cylinder pressure, exhaust temperature, brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption, carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, nitric oxide, and smoke were response parameters. Optimum combination of parameters was determined by grey relational analysis. The confirmatory test was performed at optimum combination. The grey relational grade and signal-to-noise ratio was determined. The contribution of individual parameter was determined by ANOVA analysis. Optimum performance was obtained at 80% load and 1900 rpm speed with B50 fuel at injection timing of 15.50 BTDC with 225 bar injection pressure. Finally, grey relational grade was improved by 3.7%.
