This article describes a method of IF modulation used in millimeter-wave transmitter, the method is AD9857 combined with FPGA, choose the EP1C6 as a FPGA chip, and use this FPGA chip complete the base-band digital signal processing, and implement the control to the AD9857. AD9857 is a kind of the orthogonal frequency converter based on DDS technology, complete the functions of base-band digital signal interpolation filter, orthogonal modulation, and D/A conversion in the digital domain and complete QDPSK modulation signal output of 70MHz IF carrier. This method can eliminate phase and gain imbalances and distortion which caused by analog modulation, also can simplify the system structure, reduce cost and improve the performance and reliability of the system.

Abstract Next-generation automotive radar sensors are increasingly becoming sensitive to cost and size, which will leverage monolithically integrated radar system-on-Chips (SoC). This article discusses the challenges and the opportunities of the integration of the millimeter-wave frontend along with the digital backend. A 76–81 GHz radar SoC is presented as an evaluation vehicle for an automotive, fully depleted silicon-over-insulator 22 nm CMOS technology. It features a digitally controlled oscillator, 2-millimeter-wave transmit channels and receive channels, an analog base-band with analog-to-digital conversion as well as a digital signal processing unit with on-chip memory. The radar SoC evaluation chip is packaged and flip-chip mounted to a high frequency printed circuit board for functional demonstration and performance evaluation.

This paper details the design of integrated balanced PSK modulator using finline coplanar line hybrid junction. The PSK signal output is in suspended stripline with incident wave carrier in finline. Schottky barrier Diode MA4E2037 has been used for modulation. The balanced configuration offers high isolation between the carrier input port and the modulated carrier output port and thus the pulse width variations and amplitude deviations are suppressed. An insertion loss imbalance of±1.5 dB with an average loss of 2 dB in the two switching states has been achieved over 38.9 to 40 GHz. The phase imbalance is±10 degrees with phase switching from 180 to 199 degrees As the PSK output signal is in suspended stripline, two BPSK modulators can be easily combined together to work as QPSK modulator.

This paper is focused on a millimeter-wave detector system that works at self-heterodyne mode. The detector antenna and MMW front-end are integrated and a weak heterodyne signal is amplified with a low-noise amplifier. After high-speed sampled with a high-speed A/D, digital signal are processed in a FPGA. Some experiment results are shown finally.

It introduces a design of the control system for rehabilitation horse based on MCU STC89C52. The system’s control core is an 8-bit MCU STC89C52. First, the user input commands through the keyboard, then send commands to the DA conversion chip PCF8591 which can achieve the digital signal to analog signal output after dealing with MCU. Finally, PCF8591 send analog signal to the speed controller of DC motor in order to control the DC motor’s speed. Meanwhile, it builds a human-machine interface (HMI) to display the real-time speed of the horse through LCD.

AbstractDigital signal processing is one of many valuable tools for suppressing unwanted signals or inter-ference. Building hardware processing engines seems to be the way to best implement some classes of interference suppression but is, unfortunately, expensive and time-consuming, especially if several miti-gation techniques need to be compared. Simulations can be useful, but are not a substitute for real data. CSIRO’s Australia Telescope National Facility has recently commenced a ‘software radio telescope’ project designed to fill the gap between dedicated hardware processors and pure simulation. In this approach, real telescope data are recorded coherently, then processed offline. This paper summarises the current contents of a freely available database of base band recorded data that can be used to experiment with signal processing solutions. It includes data from the following systems: single dish, multi-feed receiver; single dish with reference antenna; and an array of six 22 m antennas with and without a reference antenna. Astronomical sources such as OH masers, pulsars and continuum sources subject to interfering signals were recorded. The interfering signals include signals from the US Global Positioning System (GPS) and its Russian equivalent (GLONASS), television, microwave links, a low-Earth-orbit satellite, various other transmitters, and signals leaking from local telescope systems with fast clocks. The data are available on compact disk, allowing use in general purpose computers or as input to laboratory hardware prototypes.
