This paper presents the results of experimental research on the influence of using microcrystalline phosphating process on the OB37 steel used in construction. For this purpose, the samples were immersed in phosphate solution and the structures were characterized using SEM microscope. The results show that the obtained structures, are influenced by pH and immersion time and show a good surface compactity and roughness, which means that the obtained layer on the OB37 reinforcement improves corrosion resistance and adhesion of these reinforcements in the reinforced concrete.

Experimental research on axially compressed columns made from reinforced concrete (RC) and RC columns strengthened with a steel jacket and additional fill concrete is presented in this paper. A premade squared cross-section RC column was placed inside a steel tube, and then the space between the column and the tube was filled with additional concrete. A total of fourteen stub axially compressed columns, including nine strengthened specimens and five plain reinforced concrete specimens, were experimentally tested. The main parameter that was varied in the experiment was the compressive strength of the filler concrete. Three different concrete compression strength classes were used. Test results showed that all three cross-section parts (the core column, the fill, and the steel jacket) worked together in the force-carrying process through all load levels, even if only the basic RC column was loaded. The strengthened columns exhibited pronounced ductile behavior compared to the plain RC columns. The influence of the test parameters on the axial compressive strength was investigated. In addition, the specimen failure modes, strain development, and load vs. deformation relations were registered. The applicability of three different design codes to predict the axial bearing capacity of the strengthened columns was also investigated.

Purpose – The aim of this paper was to investigate the passive corrosion control and active corrosion protective effect of the reinforced concrete structures by electrochemical chloride removal (ECR) method and inhibitors approach, respectively. Design/methodology/approach – The concentration of aggressive chloride ion distributed from the reinforcing steel to the surface of the concrete cover was analyzed during the ECR processes. Besides, the half-cell potential, the concrete resistance R c , the polarization resistance R p and the capacitance of double layer C dl of the steel/concrete system were used to characterize the electrochemical performance of the concrete prisms. Findings – The effectiveness of ECR could be enhanced by increasing the amplitude of potential or prolonging the time. Inhibitor SBT-ZX(I) could successfully prevent the corrosion development of the reinforcing steel in concrete. Originality/value – The research provides the scientific basis for the practical application of ECR and inhibitors in the field.

Steel fiber has a fine nature in reinforcing concrete. This essay aims to find out the influence of physical forms of steel fiber on its nature of reinforcement. By comparing two types of cement mortar reinforced by steel fibers, it is found that spiral steel fibers have a better bond strength with matrix than straight ones. Therefore, a conclusion could be drawn that physical forms of the steel fiber play a significant role in steel fiber reinforced concrete, and the experiment also serves a rewarding reference to the application of spiral steel fibers.

With the centrally pulling-out test, the bond strength of reinforced concrete is measured with different temperatures and different cooling ways after high temperature; and the ultimate bond strength and slip of reinforced and concrete under different conditions are analyzed. The results show that the bonding strength declines gradually with the increase of temperature, and the ultimate slippage also decreases gradually.

The development of new generation prefabricated reinforced concrete structure is still at an early stage in China. Reinforced concrete laminated slab, as an important horizontal load carrying member, is paid much attention to in research. Based on the research results about it in China, the progress of which is summarized, including the form, characteristics and experimental research of sandwich laminated slab, anti-ribbed laminated slab, and hollow laminated slab etc. Finally, the further research is prospected.
