For an application as biomedical materials of high performance with a good biocompatibility, the Ti-O film on Si (110) wafer substrate has been synthesize by means of unbalance reactive magnetron sputtering method and modified by phosphorus ion implantation and succeeding vacuum annealing. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results indicated that such prepared Ti-O film had a rutile structure. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis demonstrates the effect of P ion doping. The contact angle test and sheet resistance results showed that titanium oxide film and phosphorus-doped titanium oxide film became more hydrophilic and higher conductance after annealing. The morphology and roughness of the surface have been investigated using SEM. Antithrombotic property of the titanium oxide thin film was examined by platelet adhesion tests. The results showed that the undoped Ti-O films and the P implant and annealing at 900 °C Ti-O film had good blood compatibility.

In this work, nonstoicheometric titanium oxide film on silicon matrix was prepared by unbalanced reactive pulsed magnetron sputtering /hydrogen plasma reduction method. The film chemical composition was analyzed by X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The XRD patterns of the prepared films showed that titanium oxide films possess the single phase rutile structure . the XPS spectra of the film displayed that the valence state of Ti is Ti4+, Ti3+ and Ti2+ respectively and the films were nonstoichiomeric Ti-O film. The evidence showed that isolated oxygen exist in films. Ti/O ratio of Ti-O film from the XPS data vary with depth under different reduction temperature and time. And it corresponded with platelet adhesion tests of Ti-O film in vitro. Antithrombotic property of reduced titanium oxide thin films was examined by platelet adhesion tests. The results showed that the Ti-O films with lower non-stoicheometrical extent posses the better anticoagulation property than stoichiomeric TiO2 film and the Ti-O films with higher non-stoicheometrical extent. Hence hydrogen introducing is an effective way to improve the bloodcompatibility of titanium oxide film.

ABSTRACTTiO2 films with poly crystal were electrodeposited on conductive substrate (NESA glass, approximately 10Ω/□, Asahi glass Co. Ltd.) from the titanium potassium oxalate dehydrate aqueous solution containing hydroxylamine adjusted pH 9 with KOH aq. at 333k. The peak corresponded to Ti3+ion into these TiO2 film was not observed by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The photocatalysis of TiO2 film increased with a decrease of cathodic potential. In particular, TiO2 film obtained at cathodic potential of -1.3V, had the higher photocatalysis than that of other potential.

In the work reported here, titanium oxide film were synthesized using magnetron sputtering from a high-purity Ti metal target while sustaining a differential oxygen partial pressure of from 0.02 to 0.30 Pa. The biological behavior of endothelial cells grown on the film surface was studied by in vitro human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) culture investigation. Our studies revealed that the adherence, growth, and proliferation of endothelial cells on different Ti-O film surfaces were strongly affected by the oxygen partial pressure. The biocompatibility mechanisms of ECs on Ti-O film surfaces were explored using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), a-step profilometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). We conclude that the various film characteristics such as structure, composition and surface morphology due to the different oxygen partial pressures significantly influence the biological behavior of EC.

Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (GRR) is one of the commonly used traditional Chinese medicines in clinical practice, which has been applied to treat digestive system diseases for hundreds of years. GRR is preferred for anti-gastric ulcer, however, the main active compounds are still unknown. In this study, GRR was used as precursor to synthesize carbon dots (CDs) by a environment-friendly one-step pyrolysis process. GRR-CDs were characterized by using transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution TEM, fourier transform infrared, ultraviolet-visible and fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and high-performance liquid chromatography. In addition, cellular toxicity of GRR-CDs was studied by using CCK-8 in RAW264.7 cells, and the anti-gastric ulcer activity was evaluated and confirmed using mice model of acute alcoholic gastric ulcer. The experiment confirmed that GRR-CDs were the spherical structure with a large number of active groups on the surface and their particle size ranged from 2 to 10 nm. GRR-CDs had no toxicity to RAW264.7 cells at concentration of 19.5 to 5000 μg/mL and could reduce the oxidative damage of gastric mucosa and tissues caused by alcohol, as demonstrated by restoring expression of malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase and nitric oxide in serum and tissue of mice. The results indicated the explicit anti-ulcer activity of GRR-CDs, which provided a new insights for the research on effective material basis of GRR.
