This paper deals with some of the latest developments and serial production applications at obz innovation gmbh. With three serial production systems and one for the R&D department, obz innovation gmbh is the leading supplier of cold sprayed coatings. The development of the well known serial production process of the sinusoidal copper coating for hybrid cars is explained. Furthermore our ferritic chromium steel induction coating and our new application paths in this area, an immanent temperature limitation function for safety critical reasons, is shown. An example for a field of research actually examined at obz is power electronics with cold sprayed circuits on an insulating ceramic coating with potential use in fields like automotive and many others.

Business in modern business conditions requires a continuous process of improvement and investment in all activities in the company. In order to survive on the market, resist the challenges of competition, but also the demands of customers, companies are constantly innovating the production process in an effort to improve all the company's activities. One of the production systems that proved to be suitable for continuous improvement and improvement of the production process is Lean production system. It represents the way companies react to the challenges of the present and the future. The Lean production system offers a variety of instruments, and for their implementation and application, managers are at all levels of responsibility and responsibility. Bearing this in mind, it can be said that the Lean production system is part of the management accounting. In addition, it represents a complete philosophy of thinking and action, which results in significant results by adequate application. The condition and the assumption that this management philosophy will lead to proper effectiveness and efficiency and enable them to continually improve in the function of maximizing profits is the authorization of employees to engage in the process of continuous improvement and decision-making. Lean is based on certain principles and philosophies, including customer value, value flow mapping, continuous flow, system requirements, and continuous improvements. Lean focuses on the added value. Lean's principle is a continuous search for perfection, perfection in production and business cooperation, with complete elimination of losses. Companies that implement the Lean Concept are constantly looking for ways to continually improve their efficiency, reduce costs and improve the quality of their products.

In industrial production systems, manufacturers often face difficulties in sorting different types of objects. Color and height-based sorting which is done manually by human is quite a tedious task and its needs countless time as well. For manual sorting, many workers are required, which can be quite expensive. Moreover, robots that can sort only color or height can’t be effective when there is a need of products with same color with different heights and vice versa. In this paper, a computer vision based robotic sorter is proposed, which is capable of detecting and sorting objects by their colors and heights at the same time. This work isn’t done before as height sorting of same shapes is a new technique, which is done with color sorting techniques by computer vision. It is equipped with a robotic arm having 6 degree of freedom (DOF), by which it picks up and then place objects according to its color and height, to a predetermined place as per the production system requirement. A camera with the computer vision software detects various colors and heights. Haar Cascade algorithm has been used to sort the products. This multi-DOF robotic sorter can be a remarkably useful tool for automating the production process completely, where multiple conveyor belts are used, which can reduce time complexity as well. In the proposed system, the efficiency of color and height sorting is around 99%, which proves the efficiency of our system. The overall improvement in the efficiency of the production process can be significantly enhanced by using this system.

Thermomechanical and electrical properties of zirconia-based ceramics have led to a wide range of advanced and engineering ceramic applications like solid electrolyte in oxygen sensors, fuel cells and furnace elements and its low thermal conductivity has allowed its use for thermal barrier coatings for aerospace engine components. A comparison between CoNiCrAlY bond coat and zirconia plasma sprayed coatings on creep tests of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy was studied. The material used was commercial Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Yttria (8 wt.%) stabilized zirconia (YSZ) with a CoNiCrAlY bond coat was atmospherically plasma sprayed on Ti-6Al-4V substrates by Sulzer Metco Type 9 MB. Constant load creep tests were conducted on a standard creep machine in air on coated samples, at stress levels of 520 MPa at 500°C to evaluate the oxidation protection on creep of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Results indicate that the creep resistance of the ceramic coating was greater than metallic coating.

The adhesion performance of Cold Sprayed coatings depends on the quality of the substrate [1,2,4,8]. Before deposition, the surface of substrate must be prepared to a specific required quality, which promotes the anchoring of sprayed coating. Grit Blasting (Samson et al.) [1] is known as the conventional surface preparation before Cold Spraying. But such method causes issues: a) shallow roughness, which does not strengthen bonds between layer and substrate; b) embedment of particles in the substrate, which creates discontinuity of the material at the interface and causes cracks that degrade the layer. Recently, Laser [2] and Pulsed Water Jet (PWJ) [1] have been tested as substrate preparation methods. These methods have shown their ability to generate improved roughness without particle embedment. PWJ has particularly shown interest in Al substrate to generate crevices, which are anchors for the Cold Sprayed coatings. Nevertheless, Laser affects thermally the substrate and induces constraints that may disadvantage the coating quality. PWJ generates liquid effluents. Besides some substrates such as ferrous metals can react with oxygen of water leading to corrosion and coating adhesion weakness.

. The study models multi-characteristics inspection for inspection allocation problems with workstations of attribute data in serial production systems. Either 100% or 0% inspection is performed and Type I and Type II errors are considered. In addition, this study considers three possibilities of treatment of detected nonconforming units, namely, repair, rework and scrap. With the above considerations, a profit model is developed for optimally allocating inspections. Moreover, a genetic algorithm is used to solve the problem and it is proved to have much less computation time, compared with an optimization method based on complete enumeration, especially when number of workstations and characteristics becomes more.
