Background: Valuable research requires contribution from many experts; however, the “et al.” truncation often keeps all individuals from being acknowledged. The adoption of a new citation rule ( list all authors up to 30, followed by et al.) would allow more authors to be acknowledged. The purpose of this study was to (1) explore the citation styles of the top 10 Plastic Surgery, Surgery, and Medical journals and (2) compare the number of extra pages required, and the number of additional authors acknowledged when the “new rule” is implemented. Methods: The top 10 journals in Plastic Surgery, Surgery, and Medicine were identified. The citation styles used in each of the journals were reviewed and the reference list from a recently published article was extracted. The original reference list was used to create an Extended Reference List using the new rule. Results: Most journals implemented “et al.” when seven or more authors were listed. Ten articles required additional pages to accommodate the Extended Reference List. When the “et al.” truncation was introduced after 30 authors, there was an almost 100% chance of all authors being included. The adoption of this rule rarely resulted in the need for additional pages, especially within Plastic Surgery. Conclusions: In a time of electronic publishing, where constraints such as article and journal page length should not be important factors, all authors should be recognized. The use of the “et al.” truncation should be discouraged by all individuals involved in the production and publication of research.

Background/Aims There is significant variation in the implementation of temporary tube feeding management in children and a paucity of associated clinical practice guidelines covering all phases of care, from decision making regarding tube insertion through to tube weaning. Development of clinical practice guidelines should consider levels of evidence other than randomised control trials. Examining hospital-produced guidelines used by frontline health staff, for example, could distinguish areas of application of evidence-based recommendations, as well as domains of care in need of increased implementation. This article describes the content of existing hospital-produced guidelines relating to tube feeding care in a general paediatric population. Methods Hospital-produced guidelines were sought by mailing 200 health services worldwide and searching Queensland Health's Electronic Publishing Service in Australia and Google. A content analysis was then performed. Results The 13 collected hospital-produced guidelines from Australia, the UK and Canada generally comprehensively reported on processes related to the decision-making, tube placement and tube maintenance phases. However, reporting on oral feeding while tube feeding, tube feeding dependency, tube feeding exit planning, and the social and emotional aspects of tube feeding were areas within these phases that had limited coverage. Recommendations for the phase of tube weaning were also infrequently included. Conclusions Development of formal clinical practice guidelines covering all tube feeding phases should assist in optimising patient and health service outcomes.

This article exposes the theoretical and methodological aspects of the problem of using information educational technologies (IET) in the process of professional future fine arts teacher training. According to the results of pedagogical experience, it was presented the main directions and features of the use of IET in the educational process of applicants for the specialty ‘Secondary Education (Fine Arts)’ at Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University. It was opened the possibilities and advantages of the information and communication components involvement in educational and methodical maintenance of educational components of artistic direction. The types of specially designed information and educational resources are presented, such as hypertext electronic textbooks and manuals, multimedia manuals, reference and information systems, training programs for knowledge consolidation, control programs. The peculiarities of the use of audiovisual means (educational software and pedagogical tools and films, documentaries), licensed software, and pedagogical tools developed by companies-representatives of foreign multimedia publishing houses and Ukrainian electronic publishing houses are highlighted. It is taken into account that the involvement of IET can occur only at certain stages of the educational process organization for certain disciplines, which in their specificity are practical courses. The expediency of introducing into the process of future fine arts teacher training disciplines aimed at mastering the capabilities of computer graphics programs and artistic and aesthetic development of virtual reality technologies is substantiated. These are the educational components ‘Computer Design of Art Products,’ ‘Computer Design of Decorative Products,’ ‘Virtual Art Space.’ The purpose and results of educational activity in such disciplines are covered; attention is focused on the specifics of their content. Approximate topics of practical tasks are given. It was determined that for the formation of a positive attitude to IET in achieving professional success, future professionals in the learning process are faced with the task of active use, as well as the creation of their IET. It was established the positive dynamics in the organization of the educational process of future fine arts teachers in the areas of use of IET presented in the article.

The upgrade project for the Electronic Library of the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is discussed. The goal is to provide remote access to its digital content, to expand and develop library information services in the digital environment. The e-library enables to improve library services of the republican population and to raise the profile of the library in the modern technological world. The elibrary’s new services emerge at the synthesis of new information technologies (implementation tool) and new approaches to traditional library and bibliographic processes. The user-group oriented segments were designed ("School", "Reading since very birth", "Science in Yakutia", "Electronic publishing house") which enables to meet information demands to the fullest extent possible. The options for using personal accounts, statistical performance indicators, e-library document collection, resources selection and systematization, and grouping methods are characterized in brief. The search instrument makes an important performance indicator; it can be used for every segment and collection and is locked to descriptive metadata fields for all types of resources (formats). The concept of creating Single Library and Information Environment based on the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) provides the organizational and technological prospects for the e-Library.

Good instructional materials are arranged systematically and they enable students to learn independently, up to date, easily digestible and designed in accordance with the applicable curriculum. This research aimed to determine the process and results of the development of integrated statistical instructional materials EPUB-based statistical literacy properly (valid, practical, and effective) and to determine whether there were significant differences between the pretest-posttest results. The type of research used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE type development model. The subjects in this research were 53 students of the mathematics education study program at Universitas Palangkaraya (UPR) and 41 students of the PGSD study program at Universitas Mushammadiyah Palangkaraya (UMPR). Data analysis used T-test and N-Gain test. The research results obtained were as follows: (1) The instructional materials developed contained statistical literacy and multimedia based, namely EPUB (2) The average validity obtained from the validator's assessment was 89.42% very valid of 89.42% (3) The average percentage of student responses to EPUB-based statistical literacy integrated instructional materials was 89.82%. Overall, instructional materials were in the very practical category. (4) student learning completeness reached 80.76%, there were 30 of 31 UPR students completed and student learning completeness reached 78, 80%, there were 22 UMPR students completed and it can be concluded that the use of EPUB was effective. (5) Furthermore, a significant difference can be seen from the UPR average of the experiment class posttest was 84.23 while the posttest control class was 61.23. It means that the post-test results of the experiment class were higher than the post-test results of the control class with a difference of 23 and the result of the N-gain score for the experiment class is 56.3% while the control class is only 4.24%. Meanwhile, a significant difference can also be seen from the average UMPR of the posttest experiment class was 78.14 while the posttest control class was 63.00. It means that the post-test results of the experiment class were higher than the post-test results of the control class with a difference of 15.14 and the results of the N-gain score for the experiment class are 56% while the control class was only 10%.

At a time when space in any academic library is at a premium, when we sometimes need to argue for shelf space rather than computers and group work pods, the University of Sydney Library has decided not only to keep and maintain its nineteenth century printing press, but to feature it through a printer in residence program. Now in its third year, the program brings together a printmaker and a letterpress for eight weeks during semester. The intent is to engage with the library and its users, to bring the print workshop to life, to draw inspiration from the library's collection and to create a publication for the Artists’ Book Collection within Rare Books & Special Collections. In an era of instant layout, digital word processing and electronic publishing what does the slow and laborious process of letterpress printing bring to a twenty-first century academic library? This residency demonstrates that understanding the process of making a publication can be just as vital and alive as the content of that publication - one letter at a time.
