In Malaysia, the Geographical Information System (GIS) is widely used by various organizations in both government and private sectors because of its various capabilities. The rapid development process in the large city in Peninsular Malaysia and new area has caused an increasing number of the sewerage treatment plant (STP) maintained by Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) every year. Nowadays, with the big services areas and limited staffs the IWK had faced many issues related to the sewerage such as a public complaint on blockage, overflow and others. Thus, based on the powerful function of this GIS, the IWK also has used the GIS application known as Integrated Geographical Information System (IGIS) in their daily routine works. However, due to the weaknesses of this existing system, it cannot be optimally utilized in managing and maintaining the sewerage system more efficient. The main objective of this research focuses on analyzing user requirements to improve IGIS based on the current issues faced by them. The method used in this study is qualitative method using a face-to-face interview with IGIS users in getting any feedback from them on the existing data with an examining what is the main attribute data required. Then a content analysis was used to analyze it by updating all the data required and removing unnecessary data from the IGIS. As a result, the newly updated attribute data into IGIS will help the users to conduct proper planning in controlling the increasing number of STP every year and to manage the sewerage system more efficiently.

Abstract The problem of assessing risk indicators of hazardous natural processes as the basis for sustainable development of the region arises due to the peculiarities of the geological structure of the territory of Krasnodar Krai. The work is based on a comprehensive assessment of the geological conditions of the territory of Krasnodar Krai with the use of a systematic approach. A list of characteristic natural processes that pose the greatest danger to capital constructions was determined: in the mountainous part – erosion processes, on the plain – soil subsidence and associated landforms. Then, schematic maps were compiled and the geological component of the risk (its spatial-areal indicator) was determined. Subsequently, to compare these maps, overlay operations were performed, as a result of which the spatial characteristics of ARC/INFO layers were combined into a new layer and relational join of their attribute data was carried out. Adding the risks of each parameter made it possible to rank the territory into 4 zones according to the degree of integral risk of manifestation of natural processes.

Population management is difficult and complex due to its dynamic and complexity. When we talk about demography, we talk about human population in a defined geographic area, meaning, demography is a spatial science. Geographic Information System (GIS) is a modern tool used in many fields, to manage attribute data and spatial data, including population management. The aim of this study is to present the size of population for each county and urban/rural area on two different years: 2012 and 2020, and the estimation of population growth until the year of 2050. Used for processing spatial data, ArcGIS package from ESRI, allows spatial and geostatistical analysis, mathematical calculations and the visualizations of data. Modern cartography is using GIS technologies to create maps in an easier and flexible way. GIS can use the existing analog maps after digitizing them. Using GIS, specialists can create maps at any scale, centered on any location and showing any selected information. ArcGIS tools permit to visualize, query and overlay the data bases related to the maps. Using ArcGIS applications, we determined the counties which present an increasing of population, and those presenting a decreasing of population, as well as the evolution of population in urban and rural area. In order to determine which counties are affected more by the population decline, we calculated the growth rate using the three major demographic variables: Birth, Death and Migration. In conclusion, we can say that the population in Romania has decreased in the past 8 years and is going to decrease even more in the next 30 years. This happened due to the low birth rate and high emigration rate.

Abstract Households in Indonesia consume rice as the main source of carbohydrates, but in some areas where cassava production centers, the source of carbohydrates is not only rice but also cassava and processed cassava, including tiwul. The purpose of this study was to analyze the preference for tiwul consumption for all carbohydrate foods and to analyze the share of tiwul expenditure on carbohydrate foods. The research was conducted in the village with the highest consumption of tiwul, namely Sudimoroharjo Village, Wilangan, Nganjuk, East Java, Indonesia. The research data using primary data were collected by direct interviews with 46 households. The research data includes tiwul attribute data consisting of color, taste, availability, and price. Also, data on consumption and expenditure of all carbohydrates consumed by the sample households, namely tiwul, rice, corn, cassava, sweet potato, and potatoes. Data analysis used expenditure share analysis and Conjoint analysis. The results showed that the share of tiwul expenditure was the second largest after rice (79.98%), tiwul (16.39%), potatoes (2.78%), sweet potato (0.54%), cassava (0.2%), and the smallest was corn (0.11%). The preference for tiwul consumption was dominated by taste, price, color, and availability with relative importance values of 49.89%, 30.48%, 10.02%, and 9.61%, respectively. Promotion of the Tiwul Consumption Movement is needed, especially for the young generation and children, to increase tiwul consumption and reduce household dependence on rice.

We consider the problem of efficiently answering set similarity joins on multi-attribute data. Traditional set similarity join algorithms assume string data represented by a single set and, thus, miss the opportunity to exploit predicates over multiple attributes to reduce the number of similarity computations. In this article, we present a framework to enhance existing algorithms with additional filters for dealing with multi-attribute data. We then instantiate this framework with a lightweight filtering technique based on a simple, yet effective data structure, for which exact and probabilistic implementations are evaluated. In this context, we devise a cost model to identify the best attribute ordering to reduce processing time. Moreover, alternative approaches are also investigated and a new algorithm combining key ideas from previous work is introduced. Finally, we present a thorough experimental evaluation, which demonstrates that our main proposal is efficient and significantly outperforms competing algorithms.

Geographical information system (GIS) has been used for geospatial epidemiology. Through the process, it begins with geocoding, i.e. assigning geographic coordinates to an address on a map. This process is a bridge between spatial information and its attribute data. Fortunately, some open geocoding services are available. The paper aims to examine the mapping reliability of some online geocoding services to map the spread of tuberculosis (TB) in Sarawak, Malaysia towards practical implementation in the domestic health department. The features examined the common platforms, namely QGIS, Google Map, and ArcGIS Online, were selected and explored in terms of the following variables; positional quality, speed, cost, and coverage. Based on our exploratory experiment, ArcGIS Online offers relevant mapping features for the local geocoding services of the TB locations compared to the other two platforms. But the chosen geocoding methods or services may depend on the nature of the project, cost restrictions, and the experience of an analyst. Comparison of the positional accuracy with manual reference methods (e.g GPS measurement and manual digitizing) could be further studied.

Nowadays, building a land database and land use planning database is an indispensable requirement, especially for a seaport city as Vung Tau city (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) where there are complex land fluctuations. Accordingly, a complete land use planning database with the participation of community will contribute to connecting planners, managers and people, and increase the publicity, transparency and feasibility of land use planning options. The study designed a database model of land use planning with the community consultation for Vung Tau city in accordance with the land data standards of Circular No. 75/2015/TT-BTNMT. Based on the designed model, a set of land use planning database with high accuracy was created and it was in line with the data standards of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the designed database model. This database structure contained 22 spatial data tables on ArcGIS and 8 attribute data tables (with the community consultation) on Microsoft SQL Server. Finally, we successfully used the VBDLIS software to build the land use planning database (period 2010 - 2020) for Vung Tau city with 6 data layers, including land use planning data layer (15.060 records), project layer (163 records), adjustment layer for land use planning (12.002 records), adjustment layer for project (570 records), and 2 attribute data layers of community consultation. The results of this study indicated that the correct model and complete database structure were the basis for successfully building and effectively exploiting the database of land use planning. The designed model could contribute to the planning of land management and improve the efficiency of land use.

Nowadays, there are many types of viral foods and consumers expect to be able to quickly find foods that meet their own tastes. Traditional recommendation systems make recommendations based on the popularity of viral foods or user ratings. However, because of the different sentimental levels of users, deviations occur and it is difficult to meet the user’s specific needs. Based on the characteristics of viral food, this paper constructs a hybrid recommendation approach based on viral food reviews and label attribute data. A user-based recommendation approach is combined with a content-based recommendation approach in a weighted combination. Compared with the traditional recommendation approaches, it is found that the hybrid recommendation approach performs more accurately in identifying the sentiments of user evaluations, and takes into account the similarities between users and foods. We can conclude that the proposed hybrid recommendation approach combined with the sentimental value of food reviews provides novel insights into improving the existing recommendation system used by e-commerce platforms.
