Orientation: Perception of justice amongst survivors of organisational downsizing is crucial for extra-role engagements. Researchers have recorded extra-role behaviours because they are important for organisational efficiency and success.Research purpose: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between employees’ perceptions of justice and their organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) after organisations downsize.Motivation for the study: Many organisations that are downsizing do not seriously consider the unintended consequences of downsizing on the behaviour of survivors. This study intends to draw the attention of organisations that are downsizing to this oversight.Research design, approach and method: The researchers used a quantitative research design and survey method for the study. They distributed a self-administered questionnaire to 130 employees from a population of 180 survivors at the head office of a commercial bank that recently downsized in Lagos, Nigeria.Main findings: The research results showed that there was no fairness in the downsizing exercise. This resulted in low morale amongst survivors and unwillingness to engage in extra- role behaviours.Practical/managerial implications: It is important for organisations that are downsizing to use a participative approach in order to achieve organisational efficiency and improve productivity after restructuring.Contribution/value-added: The results of the study will give the managers of organisations, which are planning to downsize, a useful insight into how to plan the exercise, how to implement the plans, and how to manage the employees they will retrench and those they will retain after concluding the downsizing exercise.

This study explores which metrics are considered important in measuring marketing performance in Turkish firms. In addition, the study examines the effects of sectoral differences and market dynamism, and the relationship between the importance attached to metrics and firm performance. The data collected from a sample of 145 Turkish firms via a structured questionnaire derived from the literature reveals that the most importance is attached to consumers’ attitudes metrics. Economic value added and customer lifetime value are the least important metrics in performance evaluation. No significant relationship occurs between the importance that executives attach to metrics and firm performance. Managerial implications and future research opportunities will be presented at the end. The study is, as far as is known, the first attempt at aiming to explore marketing metrics in Turkey, and one of a limited number of studies in emerging economies.

This study aims to analyse the impact of the level of synergy in a multi-channel retailer and its end results on customer purchasing behaviour. A deductive approach was adopted by reviewing the past studies on implementation and goals of synergy. It led to a quantitative research model for evaluating the effects of inter-departmental synergy in the market. In order to measure the effect of this strategy on the Georgian customers, a questionnaire was distributed among 412 retail customers. The outcome indicated that the level of synergy positively relates to the frequency and monetary value spent by customers and negatively impacts the threat of pure online retailers as substitutes. The theoretical and managerial implications of the relationship are discussed.

Orientation: This study described the adaptation and fixation processes implemented by a small business entrepreneur in order to cope with changing market circumstances.Research purpose: The study described how the dental laboratory adapted its entrepreneurial approaches over time in response to critical changes that occurred and how aspects in the managerial approach became fixated and proved to be essential to success.Motivation for the study: The study provided insight into how the dental laboratory transformed into a stable and prosperous laboratory by the integration of strategic, economic, cultural and social capital through a process of business decision making.Research design, approach and method: A cohort survey research design, based upon the compilation of longitudinal data over three selected time periods, was employed. The design of the measuring instruments and the interpretation of research results were derived from an adapted entrepreneurial-in-network theoretical framework. A triangulation data compilation approach was followed.Main findings: The results revealed that cultural capital in the dental laboratory became fixated on three value principles, whilst the other critical capitals prescribed exist in sufficient volumes and improve to adapt to changing circumstances in the dental market.Practical/managerial implications: Fixated cultural values acted as a ‘parent’-actor in order to guide the righteousness of behaviour, whereas adaptation required sufficient critical capitals and the proper integration thereof.Contribution/value-added: By adopting the entrepreneurship-in-network approach, the researchers incorporated the dynamic and interactive processes of entrepreneurship. Future studies may employ the same design and use multi-varied analyses to show how a business adapt or fixate its approaches in response to crises or changes in the business environment.

IIUM Zero Single-Use Plastic Campaign was launched in February 2019, requiring everyone in IIUM not to use plastics including plastic straws, plastic bags, and plastic food containers. As such, this study attempted to gauge the IIUM community’s reception towards the Zero Single-Use Plastic Campaign. The objectives of this study are: (1) to determine the level of awareness, perception, attitude, readiness, and behaviour towards the Zero Single-Use Plastic Campaign; (2) to analyze the relationship among awareness, perception, attitude, readiness, and behaviour in the Zero Single-Use Plastic Campaign; and (3) to find out the best predictor of community behaviour towards such campaign. The study tested the theory of planned behaviour and employed a quantitative research design using the survey method with the questionnaire as its research instrument for data collection. A total of 398 respondents participated in the study. The results of the study show that there is a high level of awareness, perception, attitude, readiness, and behaviour towards the Zero Single-Use Plastic Campaign. Also, there are positive and significant relationships between the factors and behaviour (usage). Readiness is the best predictor of the zero single-use plastic usage. All the hypotheses are supported. Therefore, it can be concluded that the IIUM campus community supports the campaign. Hence, the theory of planned behaviour holds true and is supported by this study. Keywords: Attitude, awareness, behaviour, perception, readiness towards the campaign.
