These days, the use of Internet technology can be found in almost every sector of human life. One of the advanced Internet technologies is Internet of Things (IoT), that is a technology where devices can communicate via Internet connectivity. It is used in many vital industries like automotive, electricity, home automation, and healthcare. This study aims to implement IoT technology for healthcare sector, i.e. in helping obesity people to pursue their weight-loss program (WLP). The result is a system which consists of a smart weight scale, a mobile application, and food menu recommendation database in order to help obesity people in their WLP program. A trial to some obesity patients is performed to collect data. Index Terms—Internet of things; overweight; weight loss program; food recommendation

The smart home is now an established area of interest and research that contributes to comfort in modern homes. With the Internet being an essential part of broad communication in modern life, IoT has allowed homes to go beyond building to interactive abodes. In many spheres of human life, the IoT has grown exponentially, including monitoring ecological factors, controlling the home and its appliances, and storing data generated by devices in the house in the cloud. Smart home includes multiple components, technologies, and devices that generate valuable data for predicting home and environment activities. This work presents the design and development of a ubiquitous, cloud-based intelligent home automation system. The system controls, monitors, and oversees the security of a home and its environment via an Android mobile application. One module controls and monitors electrical appliances and environmental factors, while another module oversees the home’s security by detecting motion and capturing images. Our work uses a camera to capture images of objects triggered by their motion being detected. To avoid false alarms, we used the concept of machine learning to differentiate between images of regular home occupants and those of an intruder. The support vector machine algorithm is proposed in this study to classify the features of the image captured and determine if it is that of a regular home occupant or an intruder before sending an alarm to the user. The design of the mobile application allows a graphical display of the activities in the house. Our work proves that machine learning algorithms can improve home automation system functionality and enhance home security. The work’s prototype was implemented using an ESP8266 board, an ESP32-CAM board, a 5 V four-channel relay module, and sensors.

The usage of Information and Technology in Indonesia is increasing from year to year. Internet is growing rapidly and prices offered by Internet providers are getting cheaper over time. In addition, smart phone users in Indonesia is also growing in number. This leads to the dependence between the user technologies with information technology systems. In the emerging era, a lot of activities that can be completed by the information system. This makes the users of such technology was spoiled by the presence of new technologies. This prompted the authors to research and design a home automation system that can be used by the user to adjust the electricity consumption by appliances that use electricity at home by using android application that is embedded in the mobile device so that the electricity consumption in the home is not excessive and needed when necessary. Design of the home automation system designed from data collection to conduct interviews regarding the structure of electricity at home, making home electrical schematic design, code generation commands to the microcontroller, the design of the web server for communication with mobile application  to microcontroller, the design of the server for home automation. It is used to schedule each electrical appliance that is registered with the manufacture of a mobile application for home automation system that will be embedded in mobile devices and the Android Operating System. The work is mainly concentrated on the implementation of Voice Controlled Home Automation. It is all about the development of home appliances based on the voice command using Android. The system is used to support elderly and disabled people at home. Google application is used as voice recognition and process the voice input from the smart phone. The voice activated home automation is implemented using NodeMCU, relays, pcb connectors, diodes and power supply. The voice input is captured by the android and the NodeMCU receives the signal to control the light, fan, bulb

Abstract: This paper focuses on the concept of home automation using arduino kit via mobile app. This paper describes and gives the direction for Arduino controlled light-weight bulb through PIR motion detector, voice commands as well as using buttons. We tend to use the PIR motion detector to get the presence of somebody's body to ON the bulb keep with the output of the motion detector. This can be used in very little areas like storerooms. We are in a position to place the motion detector at the door of house and once someone can enter the room, the motion detector will discover it and light-weight will get ON. The PIR motion detector can discover the shape up to seven meters so it's sensible for little rooms. This project additionally permits light automation by sensing the human presence inside the required varies.


Automation is the process of monitoring the home that can transform the home from being manual and static to a smart and dynamic one [1]. Life is getting simpler and more comfortable in all spheres with the use of technology and innovation. This paper proposes the Internet of Things (IoT) based home automation using raspberry pi 3 b. This system consists of a smart phone with a mobile application called Blynk which is having home appliances details with switches to ON and OFF the home appliances. We also included Garden irrigation and Gas detection system for less human effort, more convenience and more comfortable to the user for complete home automation. We used MQ-2 gas sensors for gas leakage detection and FC-28 for garden irrigation. In this paper home appliances are controlled through Wi-Fi technology [2].

The home automation system is indeed a system that offers a mobile application to monitor it through the smartphone or tablet. It can control home appliances like light, fans, air conditions, and smart security locks, etc. Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is used for remote control of things. Smart home is essentially how it looks: automating with such an easy touch of a button or a voice command the ability to manage things across the home. Several operations were both simple and extremely low-cost, such as setting up a light to turn on and off at the time of your moment. Others need much more money and resources, including advanced spy cameras. Some people thought that technology is taking a really huge part of our lives. It does! we’re living in a modern generation where smart and intelligent systems are necessary to be there wherever we are to make our lives easier and much better, for example, we can do many things faster, better, and more accurate.


This paper depicts a unique home automation system where its efficiency and accuracy can be improved by integrating the PIR motion sensor and google voice assistant. It comprises of Node MCU (esp8266) which is a Wi-Fi module used to transmit data over internet, electromagnetic relays, and the PIR sensor. This developed system works when there is any motion within the defined sensor range and it can also be controlled through the mobile application. Blynk application has been configured with the system so that it works flawlessly on both iOS and android devices. The developed microcontroller has been configured with the Blynk server which makes the home appliances work remotely and eliminates the need for a dedicated PC server. The final prototype is also configured with google assistant so that the relays can be triggered with the voice too and this system has been successfully developed, and the working prototype has been tested with various test cases.


The speech control is now most important feature of a smart home. In this paper, we projected voice command module that is used to enable the user for a hands-free interaction between smart home and himself. We presented mainly three components that is required for a simple and an efficient control of smart home device(s). The wake-up-word parts allows the actual speech command processing. The voice recognition part maps the spoken voice command to text and then Voice Control Interface passes that text into an appropriate JSON format for the home automation. We evaluate every possibility of using a voice control module in the smart home by distinctly analyzing each and every component of module

<p class="Abstract">Voisee Communicator is an android type mobile messaging application designed and developed for the thorough communication between two disabled people most especially the hearing-impaired and blind people. With stable and smart Eclipse IDE and the availability of different built-in libraries in java especially the tts.speech.SpeechToText and tts.speech.RecognizerIntent has been taken advantage to create custom voice command functionalities.</p>Creating, replying, sending and forwarding messages are among the primary and fundamental features that this study has to offer. The researchers analyzed the results of the test survey and evaluation form and proved that the application is a user friendly, efficient and accurate in delivering messages to the recipient and has the important features that the users expected.
