The agenda setting of Mass Media in Indonesia, which tends to be pro towards the presence of the Job Creation Law, is considered not an actual articulation of the public interest (receiver) which it should represent. Theory, research, and even digital surveys involving the mass media as news subjects (channels) assess that the mass media are trapped in insignificant, normative news and do not accommodate counter opinions in an objective and balanced manner. The public then uses new media, especially social media, to mobilize a movement against the Job Creation Law, or to broadly mobilize pro-democracy forces through this movement. Although social media is not a mass media that applies measurable journalistic principles, social media offers digitization, convergence, interactivity, and development of network, which are considered more effective in articulating the true public interest in political communication towards the government as the messenger (sender). This research further examines the video entitled “what is the truth about post-factual politics?” about the case in the United States related to Trump and in the UK related to Brexit. The phenomenon of Post truth/post factual also occurs in Indonesia as seen in the political struggle experienced by Ahok in the governor election (DKI Jakarta). Through Michel Foucault's approach to post truth with assertive logic, the mass media is constructed for the interested parties and ignores the real reality. The conclusion of this study indicates that new media was able to spread various discourses ranging from influencing the way of thoughts, behavior of society to the ideology adopted by a society.Keywords: Post factual, post truth, new media

AbstractTo understand the success of SKAM, the series’ innovative use of “social media” must be taken into consideration. The article follows two lines of argument, one diachronic, the other synchronic. The concept of remediation allows for a historical perspective that places the series in a longer tradition of “real time”-fictions and media practices that span from the epistolary novels of the 18th century by way of radio theatre and television serials to the new media of the 21st century. Framing the series within the current media ecology (marked by the connectivity logic of “social media”), the authors analyze how the choice of the blog as the drama’s media platform has formed the ways the series succeeded in affecting and mobilizing its audience. Given the long tradition of strong pedagogical premises in the teenager serials of publicly financed Norwegian television, the authors note the absence of any explicit media critical perspectives or didacticism. Nevertheless, the claim is that the media-practices of the series, as well as the actions and discourses of its followers (blogposts, facebook-groups, etc.), generate new insights and knowledge with regards to the series’ form, content, and practices.

Mass media is one of the leading sectors in handling COVID-19. Amidst current health emergency, public trusttowards the information conveyed by the mass media is the key to successful mitigation. Various types of newsregarding massive COVID-19 reports in several media channels have the potential to cause information bias whichends in pros and cons. Insubstantial debates in varied media are counter-productive to the efforts of various partiesin educating the society to avoid misinformation. Based on this, it is important to know the media that are referencesand that gain public trust in seeking information. This study examines the level of public trust in information aboutCOVID-19 in the mass media, both old and new media, using an online questionnaire methodology on May 3, 2020,which was given to 60 respondents. The results show that the respondents’ level of faith in television is higher, but itsconsumption by viewers is much lower than that of online media (news sites and social media). The results showedthat viewers still deemed television a reliable reference for information. From these data it was found out why themedia are rarely used by the people but are able to gain high trust in the eyes of the public. The results of this studyare expected to provide an overview of the attitudes and behavior of the community in understanding COVID-19information so that relevant parties can make appropriate policies in the perspectives of media and communication.

Citizen journalism was initially practiced via mass media. This is because citizens trusted mass media as an independent information channel, and social media like Twitter was unavailable. Following mass media’s affiliation to political parties and the rise of social media, citizens began using Twitter for delivering news or information. We dub this as citizen journalism from street to tweet. This study found that such process indicates the waning of mass media and the intensification of social media. Yet, the process neither strengthened citizen journalism nor increased public participation as it resulted in netizens experiencing severe polarization between groups critical and in support of the government instead. We consider this as a new emerging phenomenon caused by the advent of new media in the post-truth era. In this context, post-truth refers to social and political conditions wherein citizens no longer respect the truth due to political polarization, fake-news-producing journalist, hate-mongering citizen journalism, and unregulated social media activities. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with four informants. While conversation data of netizens on Twitter were acquired from a Twitter conversation reader operated by DEA (Drone Emprit Academic), a big data system capable of capturing and analyzing netizen’s conversations, particularly on Twitter in real time. This study may have implications on the shift of citizen journalism due to its presence in the era of new media. The most salient feature in this new period is the obscurity of news, information, and opinions conveyed by citizens via social media, like Twitter.

This article examines about Islamic Theoantropocentric, a new paradigm of integration between the source of knowledge from Allah in the form of the Qur’an and human science. Islamic theoantroposentric phenomena that exist in the mass media space or called mass media religiosity. This form of religiosity is in the form of morals which is sourced from the revelation of Allah contained in the Qur’an and hadith. While the mass media itself is in the form of human knowledge such as print media, electronics and new media. The existence of integration between mass media and religion is complementary and become a unified whole. The use of mass media must be accompanied by the morals or ethics of the mass media. Mass media as public media must present religious content or that does not deviate from the teachings of Islam to meet the needs of the audience, especially Muslims themselves. So that the mass media with morals can create good communication and bring benefit to mankind, even the mass media can be a means of minimizing conflict.Keywords: Theoantropocentric, Islamic, and Mass Media.

This study aims to examine the role of the press council in enforcing the press law and journalistic code of ethics where digital developments are currently very developed, especially media that utilize new media platforms. Not all online mass media are legal entities and not all news that is conveyed through online media follows a journalistic code of ethics, giving rise to overlapping perceptions and activities due to the lack of understanding of journalists and the public in the midst of easy access to information. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, data collection is collected through observation and documentation sourced from literature and document studies that examine the phenomenon of digitalization dynamics around press laws and journalistic codes of ethics. There are a number of efforts from the press council, including enforcing the press law on online mass media by carrying out a number of verification processes including administrative verification, factual verification and content verification. The third verification cannot be carried out because of the constraints of human resources and budget. A mass media that receives a report will be handled and mediated by the press council if the mass media is already a legal entity. Meanwhile, the enforcement of the press code of ethics is carried out by first classifying journalism activities based on whether the mass media is a legal entity or not, then screening complaints of violations of the code of ethics, and reprimanding the problematic mass media to apologize and clarify the misinformation that has been published.

The mass media in the sphere of work include the production of information, communication, and the creation of public opinion in all areas of social life, including the areas that belong to the social and natural sciences, where ecology also belongs. They have become the basis for initiating social action in the field of environmental protection, which is necessary for the existence of raised ecological awareness, which is also expressed through knowledge about the threat to the balance in biodiversity and nature. The protection and preservation of biodiversity, as a significant part of the human environment, deserves more attention from the mass media, but also from the members of a social community. A modern man lives in an era of information abundance. It on many occasions disorients the modern consumer. For these reasons, a person, who already lives in a kind of "new media order", is recommended to adopt fundamental knowledge about the so-called media literacy, as well as biodiversity protection. This paper considers how the mass media should influence the raising of environmental awareness in the field of biodiversity conservation, taking into account all the dynamics and drama of information technology development and emerging forms of environmental and biodiversity threats.

This research is motivated to find out the influence of mass media on students' political awareness. The role of mass media in the era of globalization provides a very large role in providing information to students, especially as a voter beginner or 17 years old. Through the media, information about politics is widely spread quickly and widely. The role of PPKn teachers in dealing with the influence of the mass media is the existence of political education provided to students in PPKn subjects. The results showed that at SMK Negeri 1 Cianjur the influence of the mass media on political awareness of students was very large. Technology has a very important role in this case social media, print media and electronic media which contains a lot of information and the role of PPKn teachers as educators in providing understanding to students so that they use mass media more wisely and aim so that the knowledge obtained can be used in community environment, in order to increase student participation, especially in any political activities. Thus, the influence of mass media can significantly increase political awareness (political awareness) of students and be democratic (democratic attitude).Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi untuk mengetahui pengaruh media massa terhadap kesadaran berpolitik siswa. Peran media massa di era globalisasi memberikan peran yang sangat besar dalam memberikan informasi kepada siswa khususnya sebagai pemilih pemula atau berusia 17 tahun. Melalui media, informasi mengenai politik banyak tersebar secara cepat dan meluas. Peran guru PPKn dalam menghadapi pengaruh media massa yaitu dengan adanya pendidikan politik yang diberikan kepada siswa dalam mata pelajaran PPKn. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di SMK Negeri 1 Cianjur pengaruh media massa terhadap kesadaran berpolitik siswa sangat besar. Teknologi memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam hal ini media sosial, media cetak dan media elektronik yang di dalamnya banyak memuat informasi dan peran guru PPKn sebagai pendidik dalam memberikan pemahaman kepada siswa sehingga memanfaatkan media massa dengan lebih bijaksana dan bertujuan agar pengetahuan yang diperoleh dapat digunakan dalam lingkungan masyarakat, guna meningkatkan partisipasi siswa khususnya dalam setiap kegiatan-kegiatan politik.
