Purpose Future speech-language pathologists are often unprepared in their academic training to serve the communicative and cognitive needs of older adults with dementia. While negative attitudes toward older adults are prevalent among undergraduate students, service learning has been shown to positively affect students' attitudes toward older adults. TimeSlips is an evidence-based approach that has been shown to improve health care students' attitudes toward older adults. The purpose of this study is to explore the change in attitudes in speech-language pathology students toward older adults using TimeSlips in service learning. Method Fifty-one students participated in TimeSlips service learning with older adults and completed the Dementia Attitude Scale (DAS) before and after service learning. In addition, students completed a reflection journal. The DAS data were analyzed using nonparametric statistics, and journal entries were analyzed using a qualitative analysis approach. Results The service learners exhibited a significant increase in positive attitude as indexed on the DAS. The reflective journal entries supported the positive change in attitudes. Conclusions A noticeable attitude shift was indexed in reflective journals and on the DAS. TimeSlips is an evidence-based, patient-centered approach well suited to address challenges in the preparation of Communication Sciences and Disorders students to work with the growing population of older adults.

The study aimed to develop culture-based lessons in Biology 9, integrating indigenous medicinal plants and practices in Cagraray Island. These developed lessons were designed incorporating features of research results, problem-based approach, active learning, and culture- or context-based teaching. The accounts from eight folk healers revealed the abundance of indigenous medicinal plants and practices for treating wounds, hypertension, anemia, cough and colds, and asthma. These illnesses were used as springboard for the development of five culture-based lessons with entry points in the K - 12 curriculum. Implemented to 45 Grade 9 learners for five consecutive days at Cawayan National High School, the culture-based lessons were found effective in developing learning outcomes like conceptual understanding, metacognition, science process skills, and cultural appreciation using quantitative data analysis ( p < .05). Qualitative data also supported these findings through Focus-Group Discussion (FGD), journal entries, interviews, and observations. Educational philosophy for culture-based learning revealed the need to incorporate hands-on activities producing concrete evidences for culture-based learning. In general, the study concluded with the potentiality of using indigenous medicine as resources for culture-based lessons in biology. For further study, it is recommended to design and develop more studies about local medicinal plants so they can be integrated, as well as multiple cultural facets, to culture-based lessons.

This article illustrates American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions’ support of the “missionary matrimony”, mid-nineteenth-century New England women’s perceptions of the missionary career obtained through matrimony, and their impressions of the Oriental mission fields and non-Christian or non-Protestant women, who were depicted as victims to be saved. A brief introduction to New England women’s involvement in foreign missions will continue with the driving force that led these women to leave the United States for far mission fields in the second part of the paper. This context will be exemplified with the story of a New England missionary wife. The analysis consists of the journal entries and letters of Seraphina Haynes Everett of Ottoman mission field. The writings of this woman from New England give detailed information about the spiritual voyage she was taking in the mid-nineteenth century Ottoman lands. In her letters to the United States, Everett described two Ottoman cities, Izmir (Smyrna) and Istanbul (Constantinople), and wrote about her impressions of Islam and Christianity as practiced in the Ottoman empire. Everett’s opinions of the Ottoman empire, which encouraged more American women to devote themselves to the education and to the evangelization of Armenian women of the Ottoman empire in the middle of the nineteenth century, conclude the paper.

Background/Context The literature on emotional and social intelligence, based on the theoretical constructs of several authors, identifies self-awareness as a core skill for leadership development. However, there is very little research or theory on how one might develop a pedagogy of self-awareness for leaders. Purpose/Objective/Research Question/Focus of Study This study describes an innovative leadership development program in self-awareness in the Summer Principals Academy at Teachers College. It describes both the theoretical and practical pedagogy of self-awareness training. What follows is a description of that pedagogy and some preliminary research results based on the journals and feedback of 45 students who completed the program in 2006. Intervention/Program/Practice The intervention consisted of daily 45-minute sessions of training in sensory awareness. The primary modes of training focused on breath, body sensations, listening, and visualizations. The training occurred as part of a five-day-per-week, six-week intensive leadership development master's degree program over two summers. Research Design Participants recorded their thoughts and feelings in semistructured journal entries immediately following the training sessions. At the end of each week, they reviewed their journal notes and wrote a weekly reflection on their experiences with the practice. In addition to the weekly reflections, they wrote three-week, six-week, and summative reflections on their experiences with the practice. These qualitative data were entered into NVivo software, coded, and analyzed for themes. Findings/Results The themes that emerged from the data led to the development of cognitive maps for practitioners that provide heuristics and developmental guides for practice, as well as refinements of the training protocols.

There is limited evidence for what characteristics of supervision delivery facilitate novice supervisees’ development. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between supervision-delivery approaches and the perceptions of service-delivery competence development in novice practitioners. The authors interviewed 9 supervisor–supervisee dyads before and after the academic term in which the supervisees had their first applied experiences. Supervisees also completed reflective journal entries regarding their supervisory experiences and development. Data analysis included constant comparative analysis and triangulation of qualitative results with a practitioner-skills inventory. Different approaches to supervision delivery seemed to contribute similarly to novice supervisees’ development. Supervisees developed in more areas when the dyads had consistent meetings, close supervisory relationships, feedback, and frequent opportunities for self-reflection and when supervisors adapted the delivery to the supervisees’ developmental levels. In addition, factors in supervisees’ background, practice, and supervision that contributed to perceptions of service-delivery competence are discussed.

This PKM aims to provide an understanding of trading company accounting, especially regarding adjusting journal entries in trading companies for students at St.Kristoforus Catholic High School. The training is carried out by providing an explanation and understanding of adjusting journals and working papers and how to fill them out. Evaluation is carried out at the end of this activity by distributing an evaluation form regarding the benefits of this activityTujuan kegiatan PKM ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman mengenai akuntansi perusahaan dagang khususnya mengenai ayat jurnal penyesuaian pada perusahaan dagang bagi siswa/i SMA Katolik St.Kristoforus Pelatihan ini dilakukan karena mitra merasa bahwa kemampuan akuntansi siswa/siswi mereka masih sederhana dan belum update sehingga perlu ditingkatkan  Pelatihan dilakukan dengan cara memberikan penjelasan dan pemahaman mengenai jurnal penyesuaian dan kertas kerja  serta cara pengisiannya. Evaluasi dilakukan di akhir kegiatan ini dengan menyebarkan form evaluasi mengenai manfaat kegiatan ini.

Anamoly is an uncommon and it represents an outlier i.e, a nonconforming case. According to Oxford Dictionary of Mathematics anamoly is defined as an unusal and erroneous observation that usually doesn’t follow the general pattern of drawn population. The process of detecting the anmolies is a process of data mining and it aims at finding the data points or patterns that do not adapt with the actual complete pattern of the data.The study on anamoly behavior and its impact has been done on areas such as Network Security, Finance, Healthcare and Earth Sciences etc. The proper detection and prediction of anamolies are of great importance as these rare observations may carry siginificant information. In today’s finanicial world, the enterprise data is digitized and stored in the cloudand so there is a significant need to detect the anaomalies in financial data which will help the enterprises to deal with the huge amount of auditing The corporate and enterprise is conducting auidts on large number of ledgers and journal entries. The monitoring of those kinds of auidts is performed manually most of the times. There should be proper anamoly detection in the high dimensional data published in the ledger format for auditing purpose. This work aims at analyzing and predicting unusal fraudulent financial transations by emplyoing few Machine Learning and Deep Learning Methods. Even if any of the anamoly like manipulation or tampering of data detected, such anamolies and errors can be identified and marked with proper proof with the help of the machine learning based algorithms. The accuracy of the prediction is increased by 7% by implementing the proposed prediction models.
