The research examines the contributions of the African Indigenous Knowledge System and, more precisely, the African traditional philosophy of community or Ubuntu as a countermeasure against the challenges of child-rearing in a changing society. The research contends that Ubuntu has a sagacity from which the world can learn lessons to combat the challenges of child-rearing in a changing society. Challenges named above are mainly due to society becoming more modernized, and individualistic thereby neglecting African ways of child rearing. This is the case with urbanization whereby many people move to urban places for economic prospects. Another challenge is that of family decay worldwide, where there’s an increase in a number of single parenting due to a number of factors. Some of those factors are due to the high divorce rate, the death of a partner etc. The author argues that Ubuntu can contribute to offering helpful solutions to the challenges under study. The research utilises the secondary research or desk research methodology. The results show that Ubuntu is a likely good countermeasure against the myriad of challenges in child-rearing worldwide. The research concludes that the utilisation of this African philosophy may be extremely valuable in contributing supportively to the many challenges of childrearing faced by people worldwide.

The high divorce rate in Indonesia, including among Christian families, has in recent years been a struggle together. Divorce itself is the mouth of a variety of pressures faced by Christian families that are not properly resolved. Not a few Christian families have a vulnerable resilience due to their inability to manage conflicts that occur. On the other hand, the Church must recognize that it has an ethical and theological responsibility to maintain the resilience of the family members of its congregation. However, the fact is that most churches do not have a programmed mission to nurture husband and wife members of their congregations in order to maintain family resilience. In fact, many churches do not have documented teaching material for cultivating Christian families. This article is a summary of development research that seeks to create a design for Christian husband and wife formation materials that can later be used by church leaders for the survival of the family of church members. The research method used is Research and Development (R & D), which is used to produce certain products, and test their effectiveness. In this research, the design of Christian husband and wife guidance materials for the family resilience of church members is produced.

Purpose Defects can be caused by a number of factors, such as maintenance damage, ground handling and foreign objects thrown up from runways during an in-service use of composite aerospace structures. Sandwich structures are capable of absorbing large amounts of energy under impact loads, resulting in high structural crashworthiness. This situation is one of the many reasons why sandwich structures are extensively used in many aerospace applications nowadays. Their non-destructive inspection is often more complex. Hence, the choice of a suitable non-destructive testing (NDT) method can play a key role in successful damage detection. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach A comparison of detection capabilities of selected C-scan NDT methods applicable for inspections of sandwich structures was performed using water-squirt, air-coupled and pitch-catch (PC) ultrasonic techniques, supplemented by laser shearography (LS). Findings Test results showed that the water-squirt and PC techniques are the most suitable methods for core damage evaluation. Meanwhile, the air-coupled method showed lower sensitivity for the detection of several artificial defects and impact damage in honeycomb sandwiches when unfocussed transducers were used. LS can detect most of the defects in the panels, but it has lower sensitivity and resolution for honeycomb core-type sandwiches. Originality/value This study quantitatively compared the damage size indication capabilities of sandwich structures by using various NDT techniques. Results of the realised tests can be used for successful selection of a suitable NDT method. Combinations of the presented methods revealed most defects.

Nowadays, the worldwide growing demand for energy from renewable sources is observed. This fact is related to a number of factors, especially environmental ones. In the renewable energy sector, the most dynamic development which can be seen is wind energy. This is due to the construction of huge wind turbines, whose power exceeds even a few megawatts. The main problem that should be solved is finding a proper location for such turbines. Generally, wind turbines are located off-shore and on-shore. The most favourable are off-shore due to better wind condition, which relates to power generation. Notwithstanding, it is possible to install smaller turbines in urban areas: so-called wind turbines in built-up areas or integrate wind turbines with buildings (BIWT). This creates an opportunity to develop an integrated system of small energy sources located directly in cities. However, it is necessary to be aware of the many problems connected with the above mentioned installations. The article presents an overview and data related to operation of wind turbines integrated with the Center of Energy AGH building.

Since 1968, an advanced educational program in the fluid dynamics of turbomachinery has been offered by the ASME Turbomachinery Institute at Iowa State University. Initiated by concerned individuals to help meet the need for high-level, continuing education in this field of specialization, the course appears to be accomplishing its original intent. The success of the program can be attributed to a number of factors including a good faculty, an eager and qualified group of participants, and scholarly surroundings. As might be expected, timely and thoughtful planning, good luck and competent support are also essential. Of the many lessons learned about this kind of educational effort, several seem important enough to report in this paper.

This paper describes the working of an oncology nurses coping group which functioned under the guidance of a consultation-liaison psychiatrist at the Toronto General Hospital. Nurses were helped to deal more effectively with the many and varied stresses which they face in treating patients with cancer. As a result ward atmosphere, patient care and inter-staff communication improved. The success of the group was due to a number of factors that included the high motivation of the staff the high level of stress on the ward, the support of the head nurse and the consistent relationship of the consulting psychiatrist. A series of cases are presented to illustrate these points.

The high divorce rate in Indonesia sometimes result with positive and negative trends. Positive trend meant the rise of women to defend their rights as a wife that is often abused by her husband so divorce is the best solutions and alternatives. Trend downside besides destroying a family structure also carries a psychological impact, especially children in addition to great effect in socio-civic life. Legal divorce just look at issues from both parties (husband and wife) only, while the other family members in this case the child is not involved. Though the realm of the family consisting of a husband and wife and children. Child has a fundamental right within the family and also have the right to intervene to prevent his parents' divorce because he was the main victim of the divorce itself. Required a special advocate to defend the interests and rights of the child in his parents' divorce given the level of skill in the legal act has not been adequate. In this case the role and functions of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) is necessary in order to fulfill these rights.

Background/Aims: Seminal vesicle (SV) stones are a rare, and thus readily misdiagnosed condition in practice. Understanding the etiology, diagnosis, and management are crucial to guide a urologist's care, and are provided in this literature review. Methods: The inclusion criteria for the literature search, using the search engines MEDLINE® and PubMed was conducted using a combined query of “seminal vesicle stone” and the following keywords: calculi, hematospermia, calcification, and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS). Results: The etiology of SV stones is currently unknown where majority of the patients present with having painful ejaculation and hematospermia. However, clinicians have reported potential etiologies by categorization as an inflammatory or non-in-flammatory. A majority of the previous cases had shown multiple stones being present in the SV duct system that are typically diagnosed through radiological examination such as TRUS, MRI, or plain radiographs. Amongst the many imaging approaches, TRUS remains the primary imaging diagnoses of SV calculi. Transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy has shown to be used in an abundant of the case reports to be an ideal surgical approach for managing small SV stones. In regard to larger stones, a transperitoneal laparoscopic protocol is proper. Conclusion: The current imaging techniques have increased the case reports and diagnosis of SV calculi; however, more research is warranted for understanding the pathogenesis of the formation of SV stones. An optimal management of the extraction of SV stones depends on a number of factors such as size and location.

Your editorial in the February issue of Pediatrics was most apropo and frank—a just criticism of the economics of the "new pediatrics." Your invitation for further comment has stimulated me to write concerning two other aspects of the problem. First of all, a conflict of interests arises in the young pediatrician's mind when, on the one hand, he wants to encourage the mother to return as often as necessary in order to build up his practice while, on the other hand, he is attempting to help her develop independence. If he truly helps her to handle the many vexing problems of child rearing and minor illnesses, he will develop a pleasant practice with a limited number of frustrating telephone calls and few night visits. However, this is poor economics for the pediatrician starting out in practice.
